The location is great - close to everything in Friday Harbor but not on a street with as much traffic as some others. The customer service is great - just send them a text and you get a response in seconds. The staff are friendly and helpful. Our room interior was good - everything looked clean with plenty of toiletries, cozy robes, and a heated bathroom floor. The bathroom in general was dated. We had a non operational jetted tub that had been converted into a duel faucet rain shower. It was rather weird, but it worked. I also really liked the keyless entry, so no worries about losing your key! Now, my one negative. Our room, and I'm assuming all rooms on this side of the building, abut a loading dock and parking lot for an adjacent grocery store. Every morning at 5am, a semi truck, fork lift, and workers unload the truck. In addition to back up safety alarms, truck engines idling, and workers talking, you also hear the constant rumbling of goods being unloaded. This goes on for HOURS.....starting at 5am. The hotel gives you ear plugs and notes that there is no noise ordinance on the island and notes that neighbors can be noisy and the hotel can't do anything about that. I get it...you can't control noisy patrons or neighbors, but the description given doesn't really convey what is actually going on with this side of the building. Constant, very loud noise and alarms for over two hours starting at 5am. All that said, I would stay here again, but I would make sure any room I book has views of the harbor, and not the back side of the hotel.

It has steps, indoors and out (I found the outdoor steps easier on my bad hip) and it's just a lovely place - nicely decorated and SO clean. Our room was Fidalgo, we had a big soaker tub and kitchen area, I loved having two places to watch tv since sometimes one of you can sleep and the other is enjoying vacation insomnia time. ;) Out back, a walk through a parking lot takes you to King's Market which had everything. We did not find the hotel loud, but they offer earplugs just in case. The mattress was great, seriously- firn enough but with a soft topper or something, we both slept so well.

They had a cot for each of our dogs to sleep in, treats, poop bags, and a coupon for the neighborhood pet shop. I think it says a lot about a place when they welcome dogs with such open arms. Outlook Inn is also situated near the downtown area and is walking distance from some nice shops and restaurants. This doesn't count towards this rating but Orcas island was beautiful. I highly recommend you visit and stay at Outlook Inn, especially if you have a dog.

Honestly the most disrespectful person I have ever talked to in customer service and I will steer everyone I know and everyone who asks away from this hotel. Second, an Inn employee hit my brand new car (Mercedes Benz with 100 miles on it) while I was getting a treatment. As I was leaving, the Innkeeper or Manager laughingly told me my car was hit. I thought it was a joke because he kept laughing and telling jokes. He had not called to report the accident and didn't notify me until I was walking out the door to catch a ferry to go back home (live on island). I finally told the manager (or whoever he was) that thanks, but I wasn't in the mood for humor given the circumstances. I had to call the Police to make a report. The report clearly showed the employee was at fault. Given that we live on an Island, this is going to cost us thousands - not even to mention the huge depreciation on a brand new car. After some consideration, it seemed reasonable that perhaps the Inn would credit my stay given the circumstances. My wife called the Inn and spoke with the manager and owner. At first, they immediately hung up on her saying "we don't have time for this" - she was being very polite. Flabbergasted, she called back, and they said we don't care about your situation or that our employee hit your car. Call the insurance company. They were exceptionally rude about it as well. Finally, there are other accommodation options in La Conner. I highly recommend them over Blue Heron. People like this don't deserve our business.

How cool is that? They put a lot of thought into the design of this place and it is truly a wonderful bed-and-breakfast situation. All the little details have been thawed out from the entryway right to the bathroom. We are in Friday Harbor Friday. Harbor has a reputation and it is not inexpensive to be in this area so don't be surprised by price stickers if you shop around. You get what you pay for here they give you a lot of class along with a good product. I would like to stay longer if I could, but our time is limited and we have to go home and the weather has been perfect.

Severe plumbing failure, hostile management, physical aggression, and unlawful eviction…read more In short, please don't stay at this location, I just got the worst experience in my life at this venue. I strongly warn anyone considering staying at Lakedale Resort. What should have been a peaceful trip turned into a complete nightmare involving structural property failure, hostile management, profanity, physical aggression, police intervention, and wrongful eviction. 1. Severe Structural Water Damage & Uninhabitable Conditions During our stay, wastewater from an internal plumbing issue leaked directly through the ceiling into our downstairs bedroom, completely soaking the mattress, bedding, and our personal belongings with foul-smelling water. Despite the upstairs bathroom floor being dry (with only a minimal corner puddle), the building completely lacked proper subfloor waterproofing, allowing dirty water to pour directly onto the bed below. 2. Complete Refusal of Reasonable Remedy When we reported the biohazard and asked for a room switch or a guaranteed clean replacement mattress, the front desk repeatedly stalled, shifted blame onto us for "normal bathroom use," and refused to provide a habitable solution. They offered neither an alternative cabin nor a guarantee that we would have a dry, sanitary place to sleep that night. 3. Profanity, Physical Altercation, and Police Intervention When we attempted to escalate the issue to the higher manager to reach a resolution, the situation escalated dangerously: When we tried to record the interaction to document the unsafe conditions, the manager lashed out with profanity, screaming, "Are you recording? Get the f** out of here!"* The manager then became physically aggressive and pushed us. Fearing for our safety, we immediately called 911. Local law enforcement had to be dispatched to the property to document the incident (Police Incident report filed). 4. Wrongful Eviction & Fraudulent Charges Instead of taking responsibility for the structural failure and their manager's violent conduct: Management unlawfully evicted us on the spot, forcing us off the property in the middle of our trip with nowhere to go. To make matters worse, they issued Folio, refusing a full refund and unilaterally slapping an unauthorized $200 "Property Damage - Water Damage" fee onto our card--penalizing us for their own defective plumbing. We have audio recordings of the verbal abuse and profanity, receipts of the unauthorized damage fees, and the official police incident record. We are pursuing a full credit card chargeback, filing complaints with the Washington State Attorney General (Consumer Protection) and San Juan County regulatory agencies, and pursuing legal action. Do not stay here. If anything goes wrong with their aging infrastructure, management will blame you, curse at you, physically intimidate you, kick you out, and charge your card for the damage.
