They are a business afterall so of course they are going to want to buy items as cheaply as they can. Then sell for a less than new price. That being said sometimes they will come down on the price. I've had mostly good interactions/transactions at this pawn shop. In my opinion this is the best pawnshop in Whatcom county

I have been to this pawn shop on a few different occasions over the years. Customer service is like night and day, depending on if you are buying or selling. For example, I had an extra portable air conditioner that I was willing to part with in the heat of one summer. I paid over $500 new. I took it in on a Sunday. They were the only place still open and they offered me less than $40 for. I said no way, which they all laughed at me as I packed this air conditioner back into my truck. They insisted I would be back. Instead, I put the air conditioner while still in the parking lot, on Craigslist and within two hours, it was sold for $240. I wasn't in a hurry but because the demand was high, it sold very quickly. I got what I wanted from it and was able to give a great price on a barely used air conditioner. No heckling, no snide remarks and didn't just sell something to a shark who is so used to getting his way, he won't even pretend as if they care about you business. Saying all that, prices on items are pretty fair. They seem to have a great selection and variety of things from electronics, tools, dvd's, jewelry and I'm pretty sure they have plenty of guns as well. My vote is 3 stars for their inventory. I am sure their prices are okay, due to the unbelievably unfair pay out, to people selling their stuff. I am recommending you take your money elsewhere. My opinion is based three deprecate and embarrassing experience's I have had over 20 years. Don't be surprised to get laughed at, if you choose to ask for at least 1/3 selling price. If you choose to sell your things that have value, be patient and sell it yourself. Get what you mostly know it's worth.

I had a pal who introduced me to this place after he a smooth order and delivery of a Savage rifle. Everything is in process, so assume the 5-star service stands... if something goes awry, I'll be sure to update. Hopefully those old 1 star reviews are a thing of the distant past. I've had the opposite experience thus far.

I'm a bit shocked by the negative reviews, which -- frankly -- seem to come more from uninitiated people or lunatics who are afraid of inanimate objects. The selection of firearms is exceptional. Service is superlative. What I find very satisfying is that, unlike the sporting goods giants such as Sportsman's Warehouse where the people behind the counter are mere sales clerks, the people who work here are not only experienced, but they know their products very well. I began shooting 57 years ago in U.S. Air Force Basic Training, in one of the last groups that did marksmanship training during the Vietnam War; not only did I qualify for rifle, but my job at a SAC Command Post required that I qualify for pistol as well, shooting the Colt combat masterpiece, the 1911 Series 70. I've been teaching for about 46 years and have had certification as a pistol and rifle instructor. I've been trained in a number of military schools and been to three marksmanship academies that are the most highly rated in the U.S. Granted, I don't know everything about firearms -- but I know almost immediately when someone knows what they're talking about. What's more, I'm a facilitator and instructor who is an end-user of industrial psychology... and can smell BRAVO SIERRA readily... as noted on quite a few of the reviews posted for Skagit Arms. Not one of those I talked with tried to snow me about firearms, were rude, or were anything but polite and pleasant to talk with. I saw one "customer" asking about pistols "sweep" the store and its customers with a pistol -- a definite safety violation and no-no -- until the salesman stopped them almost immediately. Thankfully, the salesman didn't offer any other firearms to the individual who left in a huff. (I've been a Range Safety Officer for almost 9 years, and if this kid knew anything at all about firearm safety, I'll eat my hat. Yours, too.) And, if I may add, I think there were a number of individuals whom I believe may have been in the store to cause trouble -- including a number whose IDs failed to pass muster at the door. I'm NOT a Washington resident, but I have a Conceal Carry certificate from the State of Washington (which I've had since the 1970s): I usually show the certificate before handling a weapon. I closely watched every salesman in the store handle weapons, and they were all very well-trained, safety-conscious, and professional when it involved handling firearms. The store has an excellent selection and I will do some research on prices, quality, and track-record of the few firearms I'm interested in purchasing, as well as obtaining the FFL information from my local (Arizona) proprietor for transfer. Last of all, I appreciate the discount offered to this veteran. Well done, Skagit Arms.

And they seem to hate it when we ask if we can see a firearm in the case. They just huddle up together talking story and laughing and never acknowledge and greet us. If it weren't for their assortment of ammo I wouldn't be shopping here. But after today I'll take my business elsewhere. Not worth your time and money I can guarantee it!
