John was/is awesome. As a homeowner, I need two things: (i) the job done (right) and (ii) communication. John nails both of these. His service calls are during working hours (as is custom) and his communication is at night ... which is not customary, but totally 100% works for me because he's just doing calls and not trying to do a job at the same time. I have nothing against multitasking, but distracted calls, when things are being explained or scheduled, doubles or triples the degree of difficulty for me. As for the job itself, My default setting is to fix something rather than replace it unless the math is all wrong. And John, to his credit, has the math that has worked every time. Once in a great while you run into a solid, affordable and dependable contractor like John. Pure luck. Called him, got an appt within 24 hours. Came and fixed my stove in 30 mins for a fee that is about the minimum charge for a plumber! Just cannot believe it. National Grid told me that the stove is old, not too safe and you better buy a new one! National Grid, please, watch your customer's budget man! I was very disappointed with Accurate Appliance Repair. I have, in fact, left a glowing review of this business a couple of years ago when John repaired the clock on my stove at a very reasonable price. I called last week to see if he could repair the same 40 year old stove that would not ignite without using matches. He made an appointment with me, then changed it to the next day. Then did not show up at all for that appointment and did not answer my several calls. Most likely he had no interest in trying to fix something so old, but he could have told me that instead of making an appointment that he did not keep. read more

John fixed our dishwasher and dryer. He is excellent with trouble shooting. Saved us money and filling a land fill with a dishwasher. He calls back often very quickly. John is the owner of Accurate Appliance, and I have to say he was terrific in fixing my dishwasher in Brookline. He was easy to schedule with (accommodated my work schedule and came at night). He called before coming to confirm the time with me. He spent two hours looking at the machine from every angle to make sure he had the problem properly diagnosed. Our dishwasher broke down right before the holidays and the large appliance distributor we bought it from couldn't make it until after the new year. Accurate Appliance responded to our request within 8 hours and was onsite to perform the repair within 48 hours. He arrived when he said he would, systematically diagnosed the problem, and completed the repair in one visit. The total price was very reasonable (only slightly more than just the "dispatch fee" we were being quoted by the large appliance distributor). Highly recommended. read more

We had a burner on our gas stove that would not ignite. While that seems a simple fix, the particular brand of stove complicated things by making it necessary to replace the entire control knob assembly for all four burners. John of Accurate Appliance Repair quickly diagnosed the situation and was able to order the required assembly which he replaced upon the second visit to our "patient." Unlike some electric stoves which are hinged, the entire top of our gas Frigidaire stove had to be removed by first removing the individual burners which hold the top down. John did this quickly and expertly and then replaced the entire burner control assembly in very short order. I also liked that he was fastidious in cleaning up his work and left this stove top perfectly clean--no smudges. I would add I usually read the other reviews, and I found one that was, to say the least, disturbing, not so much in that one's opinion is one's opinion, but in that it was inappropriate. If the customer was disappointed, he should have dignified his commentary by using language that shows some semblance of civility. read more

John was fantastic. He came to fix my oven and spent 1.5 hours looking at it and charged a very reasonable amount for all that time. There was a delay in getting the part needed to repair it, and John kept me informed every step of the way regarding when the part would arrive. He accommodated my schedule and came in the evening. Absolutey awful!!! If I could give - stars I would. Made an appt. on a Fri for next Tues 3pm to repair dishwasher. Didnt hear anything at appt. time Tues so called John and got voicemail at 3pm and left mssg. saying wtf? He called back at 6pm. I got held up was the response. OK i am a nice guy. ^$% it. Ok lets try tomorrow at 2pm. John's reply "Ok i will call u at 1 pm to give u time to get to location from work". Fine. I leave work early and get to location at 130 and wait..... Nothing F'ing crickets!!!!!!! I call our hero John at 215 and again leave mssg I say nicely wtf? Wait, wait, ....still #$%#ing crickets!!!! BTW who doesnt answwer their cell during working hours??? But i digress. Economy must be great if tools like this are blowing off potential customers with multiple properties to service. Since we moved into our condo in Aspinwall Hill in Brookline a few years ago, many of our appliances have needed maintenance. John of Accurate Appliances has worked on the washer, dryer, dishwashing machine, oven, and sink disposal. Every time he diagnosed the problem and got the machine working on the 1st or 2nd visit (when parts were needed). All of them work as new after he is done. He is punctual, and I appreciate the way he works and explains what needs to be done. Our dishwasher wasn't cleaning properly and we were debating whether to replace, and we decided to give a shot at repair. My husband contacted John who came and spent a considerable amount of time diagnosing and repairing, explaining (best type of dish soap to use etc..) and instructing, and it worked! It was obvious that he wants a job to be well-done, and he even put in a follow up call after. He let us know we could be in touch if anything not resolved, but seems it was! Unfortunately I had the same experience as Marcy below. I left a message on the answering machine on Monday AM. The message, which I presume was recorded on Sunday night said that I should expect to receive a call back that evening and have an appointment scheduled for Monday or Tuesday. Monday night rolled around and no call. This morning, Tuesday, I called back and got the same voice recording, but now the mailbox is full! I get that it may be tricky to manage things as a sole operator, but updating your voicemail message can be done remotely and it would be perfectly acceptable to leave a message that says that you are currently booking appointments Wed or later. I could then plan accordingly. Instead, I have simply lost another day without a refrigerator and have to call a different repair service. This is all the more disappointing b/c John was recommended by neighbors. read more

His work is high quality, his rates very fair, and he always arrives for appointments on time. He also has evening hours. I have used John three different times for repairs to my stove, then my refrigerator and finally my dishwasher. He was always prompt about responding and showing up. The most important thing is that he is scrupulously honest about what needs to be done. With my refrigerator, he said right off that it could not be fixed and I would need a new one. He only charged me $60.00 to come out and evaluate it. With my dishwasher, a plumber said I would need a new one and when I called John and described the problem he diagnosed it immediately, ordered the part and came to my house and fixed it. It was hundreds of dollars cheaper than buying a new dishwasher. It is great to have an appliance guy that you can trust. read more

John was excellent and repaired my stove better than new!! I had company coming the next day and my oven was not heating up. John came and replaced the heating coil and it work perfectly now. In the span of one week, our refrigerator stopped cooling, the oven stopped heating, the dishwasher (seemingly) stopped functioning and the handle to the dishwasher was falling off. John fixed ALL of these issues with incredible expertise and efficiency. He's a miracle-worker and someone extremely skilled at his trade. Not only did he fix every one of these issues, but he explained the issues with each problem in a way that a layperson could understand. The refrigerator was the most complicated of all the problems, so he consulted someone else and then when fixed, it works better than it has in five years. We've been using Accurate Appliance since 2004. John has worked on our Sub-Zero fridge/freezer, our oven three times (different issues), our dishwasher and our washing machine. I've always found that he's diagnosed the problems quickly and correctly. What I especially appreciate is that he gives honest, professional advice. In the case of our dishwasher, he identified the problem but said, given its age and its lack of energy efficiency, he recommended we buy a new one. He made the recommendation knowing that it meant less business for him (the appliance company did the install and hauled away the old one). His prices are reasonable. If your schedule can make it work, I'd recommend scheduling him for morning slots. Because of our work schedules, we've usually scheduled him to come at the end of the day. If a job takes longer than expected, later appointments can get pushed back. However, he's very responsible and responsive. He fixed the broiler element in our oven on Saturday night at 7 p.m. If we have a problem, he's the first guy I call. read more
