Unfortunately, getting the part turned out to be a challenge, but that was of no fault of Above Par appliance repair. Once the part came in, Jared came out and quickly installed the part which got our refrigerator back up, running like new.

He wanted 45.00 for the part he said but I only had 60 dollars so he said he would apply the rest to the repair, and order the part which should be in on Friday or Monday. Friday came and went, then Monday without so much as a call. On Tuesday I called twice, the first time leaving a message, and the second time another message. Never got a call back. The next day I got a call from a lady who said they could get a repair man out on Thur. to evaluate our problem. I told her that their repairman had already evaluated the problem and I had given him 60.00 in cash to order the part that was to come in on last Friday or Monday. She apologized for the error and after taking some time said that the part would be in on Thursday. I said I felt that no one had ordered the part and they were just now doing so and I thought to cancel the order all together. At that point I asked her what day they ordered the part, and the line dropped. I called right back and got voicemail. Later I received a call from a man who said that he was the acting manager and that the owners were away and they had taken a lot of the records with them. He had no idea about anything, didn't not know when the part had been ordered so I told him to cancel my order. He asked why I had given the tech. 60 dollars and I said I didn't have change so it was to go for the part. He said the service call is 45 anyway and I wouldn't get that back. No problem, I said to just send me a check for the 15.00. Been over a week. No check. Now here's the kicker. This week I had more time and I downloaded the manual for the dryer. we took the back off to check the fuses, as prescribed. The first thing we noticed was that a wire was off the terminal from on of the fuses. We then took off the two fuses and checked them. All good. Put the wires back on, including the one that was off, and what do you know, our dryer now works just fine. I am going on every site I can find and tell this story.

She said it stop in a wash load, and left water in the machine when it was done. She reset the machine and it drained. The tech came out and spent 20 to 30 minutes doing something. He told her the lid latch switch was bad, and because of that he couldn't do any further troubleshooting. This switch would have to be replaced at a cost of $260 after a $20 Senior discount, before they could find out why it supposedly didn't drain. The switches sell for $59 on amazon. Because I suspected this diagnosis was incorrect I did my own diagnoses. I'm an electronics engineer with 35+ year's of experience. After 3 complete cycles I could find nothing wrong with any part of the machine. The lid latch came on as designed just before the wash cycle began, and when I attempted to open it the machine did sense the switch losing contact, which shut off the machine for a moment. This is a normal condition, and verification that the system is recognizing the switch correctly. This diagnosis requires waiting for the machine to cycle, and it could not be done in the half hour time he spent. The machine is less than 5 years old and very basic, but the controllers are digital, so you can't dial a knob to select or change modes. It appears obvious to me that these people didn't test anything, and they were likely going to come back and say more repairs would be required. The machine was only about $500, so another repair would end up costing more than a replacement machine in total. Take my advice and find someone else.

I initially called the manufacturer and they informed ma based on what I described that it was the compressor. And since 'this unit has been out of production for a long time they no longer carried the spare parts. I called a friend who has several larger units and has bought spare compressors to keep them running. Jd informed me that his large ones the costs were about $2000 each. He informed me that the smaller ones were about a $1000. I tried to find the compressor but non available even through eBay. I called Apache and Mike got back with me and recommended to buy a new unit. After 14 years there was bound to be more things to go wrong and the repair cost he estimated at a $1000. Which aligned with my research. His great honest opinion was welcomed. I like that thus recommend Apache appliance. Oh I found the replacement vinotemp brand new at $725.
