The work the crew did was exactly what was promised, and the windows work great. I stopped by one afternoon to check on them, and the house was open. The windows were out, the holes weren't boarded up, and there was no one there. I came in, and just stood there, totally stunned. I was there for a little over 15 minutes before anyone comes out. My home is on a main road, I've had issues with packages missing off my porch, I can only imagine what might have happened if someone feeling thefty had walked by and just seen the whole side of the house open. I called, and the reaction was 'Oh, they must have just gone for lunch'. Lunch? With my home open? They even left a ladder pulled up, so someone could have just hopped in. Apparently this is just how they do business, because both the owner on the phone and the workers (when they returned from getting coffee) just shrugged like it was no big deal. Also, when the work was done (which I had to call myself to find out about, there were no updates, no progress reports, and no notification when the work was completed) I went to check it out and the back door to the basement was unlocked. So anyone could have entered the house through there at any time between the completion of the job(which again, no notification) and when I went to check on it. So down one star for leaving the house open and the door unlocked, and one for shrugging and not taking my concerns seriously. Again, the windows work fine now, but I don't appreciate them being so lackadaisical about my home being secure when they weren't present.

At first, we were a little worried because his bid was low and he seemed a little nervous when he met with us. He turned out to be the best contractor experience we've had. He had a really good understanding of the period and architectural style that we were after for the moldings and quickly built out example pieces for us to look at based on suggestions that he added. For the doors and windows we gave him basic specs and he could have cut corners on the actual materials. Instead, he installed really high quality materials that probably exceeded our expectations. We had both a flooring and drywall contractor on the job and, despite the fact that they were nice guys, Rod is the only one I'm writing a review for. While we are generally happy with the other contractor's work, it is Rod's work that shines; uncompromising quality, honesty and within our budget. We would call him back in a heartbeat. After leaving voicemails for 3 other businesses who never called back, I found Don on Yelp, called, and he picked up right away. I told him I was needing a bedroom window replaced and gave him the ballpark dimensions of the window measurements. He asked some questions I didn't know the answers to, but was patient and helpful with walking me through how to tell the difference in order to answer. I liked that I was able to text him a picture of the window so that he could visually see what I was talking about, and he was able to give me an estimate soon after. He came out later the same day to assess the window and take accurate measurements. He gave us an estimated time of when he would be able to replace the window (he came out on a Thursday and got the window replaced by the following Tuesday) and was on his way. Throughout the entire process, I appreciated Don's clear communication along with the updates. The pricing was reasonable and the install was quick (even though I talked his ear off the whole time) and took less than an hour. He cleaned up any mess the install left behind and even wore shoe covers when he had to come inside to get to the window. Don was respectful, transparent, and was able to maintain great communication throughout the entire process. His pricing was fair and the installation was quicker than expected, but efficient. We would use Don again in the future since we had such a great first experience and love to support small business owners!

However, just two years into living in our 2-1/2 year old home (we're the first and only owners), multiple appliances have failed, parts of the furnace needed replacing (multiple times), the generator constantly malfunctions due to incorrect installation, the tankless hot water heater has had issues AND was installed incorrectly (to the point we've had to have it re-plumbed for simple maintenance), the rain gutters are too small for the home, faucets have broken, and rain water drainage issues have caused damage to our neighbor's property. This list goes on... We feel deceived by Renaissance's apparent corner-cutting during construction, despite charging a premium. If considering them for an existing or custom-built home, caution is advised.

They were able to fit me in the next day and get the job done, using all the materials that I already had on site. About as professional a company as one could hope for. I never met the team in person, but handled all the work via phone and could see their work and actions via full coverage surveillance system. Everything was done to the highest quality, and I was provided with multiple photos of the work during and after completion. After completion, I offered to pay more somewhat as a "tip" since their level of service deserved it, but they wouldn't have it. While I expect my roof to last for decades, I would love to find additional roofing projects in the future for the company. I hope that I can provide them additional work by reference at the very least - they deserve to be one of the more successful contractors around.
