Wow, just wow. I have heard good things, saw good reviews about this place, and it's around the corner from my house so stopped by their showroom that was listed as being open until 5:30 to find it closed with a "by appointment only" sign. I called the number to be greeted with a "hey." No "accurate window and door, this is the owner." I mentioned my surprise at a business answering that way and was advised their showroom hours went with the recession. Apparently so did their professionalism? I still never got his name. The conversation continued to a negative rant when I asked about a bid on some vinyl windows and a front door. To the average homeowner a sizable investment, but to this gentleman small potatoes and not worth bidding on. Apparently he only does fiberglass high end custom windows and doors. I am all for a target demographic and choosing your customers, but the negativity of this guy was over the top and I warn anyone that doesn't have, as he said, "a high income and plenty to spend on windows." read more

I recently moved into an old home in Portland and called John for an estimate to replace windows throughout the home. Not only was he a wealth of information but he convinced me to live with the windows I have, as nearly all are still functioning and most have storm windows installed, which, after a tutorial from John, provide me with the air circulation which is so important to me. I found this so refreshing. No hard pressure sales pitch, just a genuine concern for meeting a customers needs. I was amazed. While new windows are certainly in my future, I am relieved to know this added expense is not as immediate as I had envisioned. John and his crew are amazing. He gave us a solid quote that was never adjusted once agreed upon. We got estimates from everywhere including Home Depot and multiple local companies. Home Depot was the cheapest but also the cheapest quality windows. Others were higher and by quite a lot. He was great about adjusting numbers when we shifted what we wanted before agreeing on a final plan as well as explaining what all of the options meant and what was best for our circumstances. He had a fairly accurate guess of the timeline until windows would arrive as well as being super knowledgeable about their and others financing options. He offers a good quality of window and won't install windows that will only last 5 years, he's built his business around quality product and service. Communication was spotty at times along the way but my house mate and I are generally connected more frequently as are most folks in our generation. What's important is he would always get back to us eventually. Come instillation time there were some delays but these were certainly out of his control and when they did start they worked efficiently and with care for both our home and the windows. He quoted it as a two day job, it ended up taking 3 so just know the timelines are flexible. They were informative with a walk through after the work was completed answering any questions and with the full commitment that if you need anything down the road he stands behind his work. We are pleased with the work, the windows and the results. I would without a doubt recommend him to anyone looking for a great local windows installer! Pro Tip: Window contractors and installers are not actually finish work or painters so the inside of the window is essentially yours to deal with once their job is complete. John is nice enough to do a fairly clean and lovely job both inside and out so you may have to do some sill painting but overall won't have any gaping holes or rough carpentry to hide. read more

WOW, these guys are great! I was looking to replace an exterior door a few years ago and was referred to John and co. @ Accurate Window & Door and I couldn't be happier. So happy in fact, I just had them replace three OLD windows. Their doors and windows are of the highest quality at a competitive price and the installation was very professional. The salesman(Shane) was on time, courteous, friendly and had great product knowledge. He followed up quickly with an estimate and a phone call. The ordering and payment process was simple and efficient. Britney kept me informed of the progress and made the scheduling a piece of cake. John and his apprentice worked like Ninjas, I hardly knew they were in my house. They cleaned as they went and left no trace. In 1995 I purchased a 1910 house and had John come and install all new windows and doors plus add a sliding glass door. The work he did was amazing. I've never had leaking issues with the work he did. In 2020 I had dry rot issues on the two main thresh holds and I remembered John's service so I called him again. The dry rot has more to do with our NW climate and chronic moisture. He worked hard to come up with a solution to remedy the issue. I now have 4 new doors, new locks, new door frames and the dry rot has been removed and the rotten wood replaced with new wood. My cat even has a new pet door which he likes. John and now his son, are professionals and also take time to talk with their clients. They work hard and clean up after they are finished. The work they do is highly accurate. I trust them to work on my 1910 home because I know they have the experience of working with older homes and understand all the quirks of an older home. read more

We had Accurate Window and Door install 37 windows which included the garage and basement windows last October 2013. John Schwager is the owner and is very knowledgeable of his product and other replacement windows that are on the market. He did such a wonderful job the installation and explaining the use. We chose John and his company because of his reputation for excellence and the Marvin Infinity windows which are fiber glass and more costly but well worth the extra dollars. He said when all have been installed it would look great but it turned out so much better than I ever anticipated. It also keep with the original look and feel of our 1951 cape code home. We recently had Accurate Window and Door come and replace all the windows and sliding door in our home. Our home is 14 years old and almost all of the vinyl windows had already failed and we could hardly see out of them because of the condensation. They came and replaced those windows with beautiful energy efficient windows. They were friendly, hard working and did excellent quality work. They went the extra mile to make sure I had no clean up to do. The windows have only been installed a few days and I've already gotten compliments on them. John Schwager is the owner and installer of the products he sells. I was referred to him by a very good long term friend. His knowledge of the products is very good, and he has been doing this kind of work for 35 yrs (since age 15). John tends to sell and install high end products, and his craftsmanship is of that caliber. He is also a very honest hard working person. He took a great deal of time to answer my questions in full. I had a special problem with my front door project that required a custom door (no premanufactured products would fit my needs, and this project was not inexpensive, but the solution was much more appropriate than the other high end (and his pressure sales operation) of the other company in my town. John also sold and installed 3 new high quality doors to replace the old poor quality doors installed by the builder of our house (1990 vintage but a nice house). He has also provided good followup for minor problems that arose and the resolution of these problems is to my satisfaction. I would do business with John again and confidence that the job will be done well, and have good followup. I get the impression that he will not do cheap windows because he feels that they will not in the long run perform satisfactorily. read more
