I called the number to be greeted with a "hey." No "accurate window and door, this is the owner." I mentioned my surprise at a business answering that way and was advised their showroom hours went with the recession. Apparently so did their professionalism? I still never got his name. The conversation continued to a negative rant when I asked about a bid on some vinyl windows and a front door. To the average homeowner a sizable investment, but to this gentleman small potatoes and not worth bidding on. Apparently he only does fiberglass high end custom windows and doors. I am all for a target demographic and choosing your customers, but the negativity of this guy was over the top and I warn anyone that doesn't have, as he said, "a high income and plenty to spend on windows."

I recently moved into an old home in Portland and called John for an estimate to replace windows…read morethroughout the home. Not only was he a wealth of information but he convinced me to live with the windows I have, as nearly all are still functioning and most have storm windows installed, which, after a tutorial from John, provide me with the air circulation which is so important to me. I found this so refreshing. No hard pressure sales pitch, just a genuine concern for meeting a customers needs. I was amazed. While new windows are certainly in my future, I am relieved to know this added expense is not as immediate as I had envisioned. And when I decide to install new windows, Accurate Windows and Doors will be doing the installation! A first rate company......

Reviewing these people is complicated…read more Their problem, it seems, is they are severely understaffed for customer service purposes, and when customer contact is not convenient for them ... well, then the customer just gets ghosted --- not reply-delayed, but totally ghosted. Seriously. There already is a review reflecting this. But the problem is not black and white because, when they ARE flesh and blood (i.e. not ghosts), and they are on the job initially, they are personable, concerned about doing a good job, and their work product is decent. So they are NOT crooks. But the problem arises if you need them to do additional work or make adjustments after the job is done. In my case my job needed secondary work --- NO FAULT of theirs, just extra improvements/corrections that I was willing to pay for. They ghosted me. No reason. Just ignored hone calls and the extra work. I won't list number of calls and emails made and appointments ignored. But it was unacceptable. Times are rough. Labor is unavailable and demand is high. So I have to acknowledge this. But ghosting a good customer is not acceptable practice. I therefore do not recommend these people, because regrettably they are not reliable. I almost gave them a 2 star review for this reason, but that was too harsh. But I reluctantly do not recommend someone who you cannot count on to support their own installation.

He was unresponsive for 10 days after saying he would provide shop drawings within "a couple days." Eventually sent shop drawing that did not match what was sketched nor read any dimensional info in the email/contract. I was very patient and polite throughout the process. He then texted out of the blue to cancel the job altogether 3 weeks after he quoted the job and over 2 weeks after I signed contract . Waste of 3 weeks. Luckily he did not require any deposit or this would be a bigger issue. He seems nice but maybe he just overbooked himself. I try to give people benefit of the doubt, but I would definitely not recommend based on my experience.

I can't say enough about Nick, Amanda, and Kailash at PDX Homeworks. They gave us the most…read morebeautiful kitchen we could have asked for. They took a kitchen to the studs and built a masterpiece for my wife and me. How much do we love them? We rehired them to renovate our master bathroom completely. The fact that we rehired them should tell you all that you need to know about how amazing they are. So, again, the best review is that we are using them again, and you should use them too because they are the best. What made them the best: 1) They helped us save a lot of money. They have a unique approach to ordering materials for the project. They let us know what they needed, and we ordered it directly. We ordered the new cabinets, the new doors, the new appliances, etc. By doing this, there was no additional markup on the items ordered, and it saved us a lot of money. Other contractors we met with didn't want to do this, and their quotes were at least 20 percent more than PDX Homeworks. 2) Their work. Unlike other contractors that we have had in the past. When they saw something that wasn't quite right but that we would never know about, they didn't just cover it up and move on; THEY MADE IT RIGHT. Not to mention that their work is very precise. I once watched Nick get so frustrated when he was leveling the kitchen as he tried to level everything because it was off, to me, an imperceptible amount. At least the amount was imperceptible to me, but to Nick, it wasn't perfectly level, and he continued until it met his exacting needs. 3) Helping with design. We were amazed at how painless the whole design process of our kitchen was. We gave Amanda some inspirational pictures, and she came back with a fantastic design that only required a few minor tweaks. THANK YOU, AMANDA. 4) They only work on one project at a time. It is just Nick, Amanda, and Kailash. They don't have multiple crews doing multiple jobs that they are overseeing. They were at our house every day, working and working. It was so lovely that we had consistency in seeing them every day. 5) They're very clean. Every day, they would use drop cloths on the ground to make sure they didn't get the carpets dirty. I even told them that they didn't need to do that because I was getting the carpets cleaned after they were done. They didn't listen to me and continued to use drop cloths every day. They also vacuumed and cleaned up every day. It was a very clean renovation. 6) They are just the nicest people. It was great getting to know them during the whole process of our renovation. They don't do this type of work to become huge builders with millions of dollars of work completed every year. They are just the nicest people who love remodeling, helping people out, and helping them save money where they can. Again, we can't say enough good things about them except that we used them, again, to renovate our master bathroom. If you need a contractor, unequivocally, I can say that you don't need to look any further because you have found the best contractors in Portland and possibly the world. USE THEM!!!!!!

We gutted, repaired, leveled, and rearranged our 1970's worn out and disfunctional space into something unique and perfect for us. PDX Homeworks is amazing at accommodating a budget (and very skilled with the customized-IKEA route!), superbly knowledgable for those of us who have no idea what we're doing, and go the extra mile daily to ensure their clients and their homes are cared for like their own. By the end, we felt more like family than clients, and won't hesitate to work with y'all again! Thank you!!
