Awful experience with the Gurnee, Lindenhurst, and Round Lake locations. Lindenhurst location for 3 weeks told me to come back next week because another location had their lense cutter. Finally decided to go to the Gurnee location but wasn't able to get lenses made that day so I decided to wait a week. Went to the Round Lake location who said I need to have my glasses sent out due to my insurance type - Gurnee was ready to do them overnight at their location with the same insurance information. Not to mention all 3 locations had difference prices. When the Round Lake location looked at my glasses, they said "you must have had a cheap anti-glare put on the lenses".... These were the same lenses that were made in Gurnee. Awful experience at 3 locations, I will be going elsewhere to get my lenses replaced. read more

I am very disappointed. I have been going here for at least 3 years. I have always brought my 2 young children there (ages 5 and 7). They have always been so wonderful with my kids and really helped to ease any fears. I called to make my annual appt for the 3 of us like normal and was told they can only schedule an appt for 2 of us due to policy. I calmly explained that I had never had that happen in the past and that it wouldn't make much sense for me to schedule a 2nd appt for one of them on a different day. The person on the phone explained that due to cancellations of previous clients in the past this was now their policy. I told her I had not ever done that and that I have 2 small kids so I really needed for all of us to come together. She said the 3rd appt wud need to be a walk in. I then got frustrated in my tone and explained again that I was not going to be able to do that if it meant we couldn't all be seen. She then became very condescending in her tone and said "I will just make a note then that I told you of the policy and then just schedule you". I told her no thank you. I understand the need to create policy so ur business isn't taken advantage of but then charge a cancellation fee. Don't penalize your good customers for the mistakes if the bad ones! I have even referred them at least 3 clients over the years bc they WERE great. read more

I have been a patient at AccuVision in Gurnee for YEARS. Probably over 10 years now. I never had any problems with them until now. I recently moved to California and found a new optometrist. My new optometrist suggested I get my eyes dilated and that it's good to do so every couple of years. I don't remember the last time I had my eyes dilated (15 years ago, perhaps? It was never done at AccuVision because they never suggested I do so) I just did it today with this new optometrist and he looked very concerned that I hadn't done this before. He informed me that I had a hole in the back of my eye that looked very old and luckily the tissue around it had healed itself. He seemed concerned that my previous optometrist never bothered to do a routine dilation to check! I'm very disappointed in AccuVision, I have been a loyal patient for years and trusted them to know to do a more comprehensive eye exam. read more

Horrible customer service. My first time here and the little receptionist got smart with me when I asked a few questions in regards to my insurance. She told me I had all day to get my insurance straight, when they had all day to call blue cross blue shield to get information they needed for payment....but I had to do their job for them since little ms pretty was too good to take the initiative to help a new customer. I wouldn't recommend them if my life depended on it. read more

I guess I'll start at the beginning......I adopted my 7 yr old grandchild and got a note from the school for the first time, telling me she needed to see an Eye Dr. Because I adopted her, she has Il state insurance. First visit - the Dr there could not get a tell what was wrong with her eyes and suggested we dilate her eyes so he could get a better look.....but they couldn't do that on the same day so we went back the next day. They dilated her eyes......after some time the Dr told me he didn't know what was wrong with her sight and that he had gone as far as hes equipment would allow. Needless to say, I was very concerned about her sight and worried about her future. We went to an Opthalmologist who asked me how old the Dr at AccuVision was and said he was just young and didn't have enough experience to tell me she had a normal astigmatism and was near-sighted. WOW.....Really? Back to AccuVision to get her glasses.......they gave us a tray and her and I sat down and went through all of them. By ourselves. After picking out a pair, they let me know that the state was taking 3 -4 MONTHS to fill these orders. SO........I bought a pair and we waited for the first pair. About a month later, true to form, my 7 yr old took her glasses off and one of the arms got broken. So, since I didn't feel confident with the Gurnee office, I went to the Round Lake office. They took the glasses so the person in the back could attach a new arm. They warned me that it may not be exact....I said ok, as long as we could get close. When they brought me the glasses the new arm was clearly for an adult pair of glasses. The new arm was much longer than the original one. I didn't think this would fit on her head comfortably or correctly. I asked them to please find one more compatible. We then got one a little closer and do-able until we got the first pair that were on order. While the person in the back adjusted the new arm, HE BROKE it at the joint where it attached to the main part of the glasses. (the original arm broke in the middle and was easily replaced) Now starts the argument with the manager of the Round Lake office. He told me there was nothing they could do about it!!!! Really? I have a 7 yr old that the Gurnee office couldn't diagnose with a simple prescription for glasses, the RL office breaks the ones I had to buy from AccuVision and there's nothing they can do for my child????? Just send her to school without glasses????? First, the Gurnee office never offered me insurance on the glasses I purchased. The RL office never gave me the form to sign that tells me if anything happens while they're fixing them they are not responsible! The manager at the RL store had the nerve to ask me if I knew how to replace an arm? I said "remove a screw, put the new arm on and replace and tighten the screw? Yes, I'm sure I could do that." I felt the need to fight for my child. As soon as I asked the manger for his name (he would only give me his first name) he told us to go ahead and pick out a new pair of glasses. I think this is bad business to leave a child without glasses for school after THEY brake them. This all started in Dec of 2012....it's now April 2013 and we still don't have the original pair that we ordered because when I called to check on the status...................they told me for some reason they WERE NEVER ORDERED! I don't know how they stay in business. Most of the people who work at both locations were very pleasant. I think the Dr in Gurnee was just inept and the manger in RL was just plain rude. read more

If I could rate a 0 I would. What a rip off. Took my 5 yr old son there for a vision exam. Doctor was so mono tone and unperson-able my son asked to leave! A 5 yr old! Then they tried to charge my wife $350 for 1 pair of glasses with $50 frames. I lost it! After she paid and was walking out the lady stamped the receipt "No Returns, All Sale Final." I made sure I got a refund! When I asked the doctor why the high charge he couldn't even tell me. Just said that he needed them and I should care more about my kid then money! I will never return to this place! Went to Vision Works and got 2 pairs of glasses for over $100 less then they wanted for 1. Do yourself a favor and walk a few door down to one of the other actual real vision care places in the mall or drive somewhere else! read more

I have been a loyal customer of Accuvision for many years but I recently ordered contact lenses online through Walgreens.com since they had a 20% off coupon and offered an additional $10 off for using Visa Checkout. (Trying to save some money!) I submitted my prescription and was advised that they would verify it and continue with the processing after verification. When I got the confirmation email telling me that my contacts were being processed, I noticed that my prescription was different. I contacted Walgreens right away to let them know of the possible mistake. They told me that they had to continue with that prescription since that was given to them by the doctor. I asked the representative what would happen if those contact lenses were not the correct ones, could I return them? The representative told me that I could not do that because the doctor had verified them and that I would need to contact Accuvision to correct the issue. I called Accuvision right away and talked to Tanya. Tanya went above and beyond and made me feel at ease that everything was going to be okay. She told me that Accuvision price matches (which I didn't know) and that they stand behind their products. Something that Walgreens doesn't do. I am so thankful that Accuvision will take responsibility and is going to take care of me since Walgreens was not willing to help! Thanks Tanya! You are the best! read more

Thank you Accuvision. My 5 year old son had lost a lense out of both pairs of his glasses. I took them where I had originally bought them at VISION WORKS in Gurnee Mills, the staff at Vision Works was rude, disrespectful and to make it worse they wanted to charge me 300.00. I explained to the man behind the counter that, that was more than I had originally paid for the glasses and he told me in a very rude tone, well that's the cost. I explained to him I would be taking my business somewhere else no matter the cost. I found AccuVision a few doors down in the in Gurnee Mills and explained the situation, the staff was very understanding, sympathetic and kind. The AccuVision staff were able to put lenses in both pair of glasses and replace a screw for a fraction of what VISION WORKS wanted to charge me in less than an hour. If it was not for AccuVision my son would be without glasses. Thank you AccuVision especially the wonderful staff. You have a customer for life!!!! read more
