Didn't use services, but had the unpleasant experience encountering one of their drivers on my quiet residential street at about 8:30 am who refused to budge at a stop sign while he played with his phone, head down. A tap of the horn didn't even get him to look up. I eventually went around him, proceeded through the intersection, then continued on my way down the street. A block down, guess who woke up, and is now in a hurry tailgating me? He passed me, and my carload of kids, racing down my street like a true a-hole doing 50+. It's a side street packed with houses and kids, not a highway. The company's employees are a reflection of the company, so this should provide some insight to how this company operates. If this guy was an employee of mine, I would want to know how he's operating my equipment when my head's turned. 0/10 do not recommend, the employee lied about the wait time said they'd be there in 10mins but ended up taking 30mins to arrive. A 30min wait isn't bad but do not lie about an eta when it's below freezing outside. When the tow truck arrived he didn't have the tools even though I gave my make and model before the tows arrival. (My sister had to bring us a tool to open my tow hook cover.) I ended not needing to go as far as my requested destination once the tow truck finally came so I asked to be refunded for the miles I wasn't going to be traveling. I informed the employee I needed a receipt to reimbursed by my insurance. I didn't receive a receipt so I had to reach out via text message AND Email in addition to calling them myself. By the time I received the info my name was spelled incorrectly and my car info was missing and some other validation stamps a tow truck company should be putting on receipts regardless of a customers payment. (And for the reference in the picture is me asking for a refund and and reaching out multiple times with no response.)My total was $165 to literally be moved to the next block. Horrible company. They were dispatched out by AAA. Been waiting 4 hours for them to come out. They keep saying 20 more minutes. My front tire has fallen off my car, blocking the road. They bring a flatbed tow truck out to take away my vehicle, and can't get my car....because my car is disabled and unable to move. Does anyone know the name and address of this company's insurer? Young man left before we had opportunity to exchange insurance information and company rep refuses to cooperate today over the phone. My car door was severely damaged while on the in motion flatbed. My door will no longer close and is hanging! Several neighbors, relatives and I saw the entire thing! Another automobile was damaged in the process. Tried to flag him down to tell him he forgot to secure the door to no avail. Now, their claim is they are not responsible for the damage. ACD is a scam business run by an owner who will not honor warranties. They are one of the primary providers for AAA in Chicago so that's how most people will interface with them. I'm ending 1 year of a battery saga with ACD where 1) they didn't honor a battery under warranty that was discharging quickly in Spring 2020, 2) I gave up and bought a new battery in late December 2020, 3) that battery died almost immediately because the tech didn't tighten the battery cables, 4) the next tech tightened the cable but didn't have it set correctly so the new battery died again, and 5) again the ACD management refused to provide a warranty battery even though all of this was their issues. Not only were they unresponsive to my request, but they also told AAA they wouldn't honor the warranty. All of the techs seem nice; none seem to enjoy working for such a horrible manager. read more

This is possibly the worst place in existence. I called Allstate motor club yesterday and they sent me to this company. ACD was dispatched to me at 11:20am. My car was disabled I had on very little clothes and it was 10 degrees outside. ACD told me I would get a tow about 1:30. At 1:45 Allstate called me and ACD was nowhere in sight. When Allstate contacted them, they told Allstate they wouldn't show up for another 90 minutes. I decided to go another route!! ACD contacted me at 4:15 looking for me and my car. This is very unacceptable !!! That's even 60 minutes more than the time they told me at the last interval. We'll never use this service again! read more

I'm seeing all the horrible reviews, and while I'm sure those experiences are valid, it made me feel compelled to write a review. My wife lost her keys, and then locked my keys in the car shortly after. AAA said they'd be there within the hour, and they were. Keith was patient and had to try a number of things before finally managing to somehow fish the keys out through the door (all the "normal" methods were not working). So, hopefully they fired the people responsible for all those terrible reviews. All I can say is Keith was great and he could definitely help them restore their reputation. read more

I purchased a battery from AAA that 6 months later had corrosion. Luckily, the battery was still under warranty. Robert from ACD was dispatched to jump start my car and commented that the previous installer did not take time to clear the corrosion after installation. He took the time to clean it. This tow company was dispatched to tow my car through AAA. The axle broke on my front wheel and these guys had no idea how to get my car on and off the truck without doing further damage to my car. By the time they got the car off the truck at the auto shop, my front bumper and side fender were hanging off. Then the guy had the nerve to yell at me when I told him he did further damage to the car. This company obviously doesn't train their employees how to properly load and unload cars. Avoid when it come to motorcycle towing. Damage my motorcycle when towing from my house to the dealer. I just put a new exhaust and wanted to get it tune. I used my roadside assistance for a free tow and they've chosen ACD. i would have just use u haul and done it my self but free towing from the insurance you pay sounded good at the time. Horrible company with horrible employees . They have a black driver who should be fired or if he's the owner nobody should support. He left a woman with 2 small children on the side of interstate 90 for 2 hours, then showed up, then left her again to sit there with 2 small children after being rude and disrespectful to her. He was demeaning, disrespectful, and rude. He had dreads and a horrible demeanor. Stay away from this company. After leaving the woman with two small children she had to find another service. She was taken to a local drugstore by IDOT and she secured another service. She didn't realize the roadside company sent this guy and this company again after just leaving her. They did not call her and say they were not coming, they did not call the roadside assistance and cancel, they just left her. Someone from Vietnam with little understanding of the area and two small children. After waiting another two hours well into the early morning she called and had a service come again who actually showed up. If I could give negative stars this is a negative 6 star review. Allstate Road service Dispatched These folks around 9:45 at night. It was a difficult location, in Far Eastern DT Chicago, to reach. I contacted dispatch directly and I asked to have the driver meet me up at the High rise entry and I would lead them down to loading dock area where my disabled car was pushed by the phenomenal valet attendants. At the appointed I recieved a text they were there. No one was around. Called the dispatcher and was told they were getting a differnt tow truck because they could access the location because of height and width. WT.... This is a loading dock of a high rise. Nonetheless i waited another 40 mins plus with no call. After several calls that were not answered. I went online and found they had cancelled the pick up. I called Allstate and got a new service to tow my vehicle. This company wasted 4 hours of my time. This is unacceptable for any business. read more

I am a member of AAA, who called ACD Emergency Road Services to tow my car to my local repair shop since it would not start. The woman who towed my car was extremely slow and did not seem to know what she was doing. Everything was supposed to be paid by AAA, but when I received my credit card statement there was a charge of $147.48 for the tow. When I called AAA I was told the company was paid by AAA for the tow, and I should not have received a bill. The phone number AAA gave me for ACD Road Service was disconnected, so now I am having to dispute the charge with my credit card company. I was expecting a horrible experience but the guy was nothing but professional and super nice. He was even 15 mins earlier than the eta. Not only did they restart the battery, he followed my car car to make I made it to a autoshop and when they could not help me ACD changed my battery for me. I would give these people a 0 if I could. I called to arrange for a tow to my mechanic on May 2 about 3:30pm. The dispatcher told me that it would be $2.00 a mile over the 5 mile limit; I said that's fine. The driver came to pick up my car and I followed in a different vehicle. After driving for about 10 min., the driver calls me and says that the cost is $ 60.00. I said that can't be right because my mechanic is 14.5 mi away and the dispatcher said that it was $ 2.00 per mile over 5? So I'm paying for 9.5 miles. That's about $19.00 plus tax if there is any? How did he get $60.00? 9.5 miles x $2.00 is not $60.00. And if he wanted to illegally change the price mid-tow and charge me $3.00 per mile; 9.5 x 3 is also not 60.00; it's $28.50. Of course the driver said I was wrong. So I told him I was going to call the dispatcher. I call the dispatcher and explain the situation to him. He says, he has no idea whatsoever as to WHO told me it was $ 2.00 a mile but it's $3.00 a mile. I said you can't change the price in the middle of the tow and his math was completely wrong. Then he threatened to take my car back to its original location. I said that's fine, I'll call another company. I drive back to my original location and I'm sitting and waiting for my car to come back. About 15 min passed and I get a call from the driver saying that he dropped my car off on some random street, left the keys in the cup holder, door unlocked of course, and he's gone!!! OMG! Are you kidding me?!!!! I asked if he could wait til I got there because someone would steal my car with the door unlocked and the keys sitting in plain sight. This is on the Southside of Chicago! He said no; he was leaving! I asked him how he would feel if someone left his car unlocked with the keys in it, in a high crime area? He said nothing and hung up. Fortunately, my car wasn't stolen. This is the type of service you get with this "so-called towing company." Don't call them! You will sincerely regret it! read more
