I met with Ramona for a scheduled appointment. She met me right on time. Upon engaging in conversation with her, she started me on the process of what to do for my dog's specific grooming. We went over what shampoo she would use, and what services would be provided. I think it's important to note that you must have the influenza vaccination present at the time of the appointment. It is a separate vaccine that is not included with the routine Bordetella/Rabies shot. I picked up my dog as they were closing and I was very happy with what I saw. I was very pleased with his cut- his fur has not been shaved, but is short enough to make me feel like I got my moneys worth. His nails have been cut and filed, mouth has been cleaned, and his overall hygiene is greatly improved. I wanted to note, I have never really felt comfortable with dog groomers. I don't like placing my pets safety and care in the hands of someone else. But Ramona made sure that the expectations set were satisfied, and she did it with compassion and reassurance. I am very happy to have met her. Lastly. If you pay with card, come prepared with a cash tip. There is no option to tip when you pay on a card. I recently welcomed a puppy into our home, after not having a dog in over a decade. He's good-sized now, 63 pounds and a short-coated Louisiana Catahoula. I bathed him during his first months, when needed, but now at 18 months, recognized a professional groomer would do a much better job. Reviewing Yelp and Nextdoor, Ace Dog Grooming received an abundance of praise, and decided to give them a try. Called and made an appointment and Beth answered many questions and offered wonderful suggestions to get him ready for his first professional grooming. His appointment was for Thursday (July 21, 2022) and everything went smooth and Ace performed wonderfully! Our boy was treated with care, pampered well, and came back happy, and clean. Thank you for the kid gloves and taking care of all his needs, his nails trimmed, ears cleaned, glands expressed all for an exceptional cost. The next day, Friday (July 22, 2022), we were in Griffith Park, walking the long loop by the Autry Museum and around the golf course. The large lawn next to the museum was empty and we allowed him to romp around the area. Being a hound dog, this silly dog zeroed in on something and before I could prevent him, he rubbed himself in a pile of excrement! I suspect it was human and the smell was horrendous!! He's never done that and I was aghast at his condition, from prince to pauper in seconds. I called Beth and explained what happened and she graciously allowed me to immediately bring him in and he got another bath. Luckily I carry damp towels to wipe him off and cleaned him as best I could. The stench from the park to Ace was almost unbearable. Dropped him off, used bleach wipes to clean and deodorize the car interior, discarded those damp towels, and took the hottest shower I could withstand. Three hours later, he was ready and once again spotless and smelling like a rose. What an ordeal, but so grateful to Beth and her staff for their care and help with this minor crisis. I cannot recommend this groomer enough! I have found his forever groomer and know he will receive exceptional care in our future visits. Thank you again!! read more

Ace grooming took her in and treated my dog Bear like a queen. Bear loved going to get groomed. I knew my dog was safe, loved and well taken care off. When I got my second dog Bambi I brought her here as well because I refuse to go anywhere else. I just don't trust any other place. Bambi is a special girl and kinda needy and they do everything to make Bambi comfortable. They use the best products and was using natural products before it was the thing to do. This family feel grooming studio is nothing short of extraordinary. I researched and researched groomers, looking for someone ready to execute the perfect goldendoodle haircut I had envisioned but was not successful in achieving it with a groomer... until now!!!!!!! My puppy was SO happy to be there and it was evident he was so loved. For his first visit, they even gave him a toy! I also got their teeth brushing service and they gave me the very cool toothbrush they used (score!). I could go on and on about how in love I am with the look of my sweet fur baby, as these groomers are highly competent and nailed it! They go to great lengths to educate you and ensure they are getting it right! The owner (I believe), who would be grooming my boy, spent 30 minutes with me just hearing out what I wanted and informing me on all the ins and outs of grooming. Further, when I misunderstood her, she created a compassionate space for us to work through things until I was comfortable and excited to move forward. If ALL of this is not enough of a testament to this wonderful groomer, there is MORE. I was a first time customer today and found myself in a car accident right as I needed to pick him up and while waiting for a tow. I called crying and hysterical, and everyone was so kind and gracious. These people TRULY care about their clients. I was told repeatedly not to worry, as what mattered most was getting there safely and was rest assured they would be there. They stayed open over an hour past closing in complete compassion and patience with me. This will be our groomer (if they take us back!) forever. I cannot imagine going anywhere else and look forward to personally calling the owner to thank her again and again! I'm in awe of this place and didn't know we still had these great, loving places. Okay...I saw the other reviews and I thought: Why not? let's try it... It is true, the ladies there are really sweet but here's what happened. first of all the place looks really nasty and gives you a sensation of dirt sitting on everything you see...but again, I thought about the reviews and said to myself...let's get over it... then when I walked in, their dog was eating (then laying) in the area where they have the grooming station...(????)... Once I picked up my dogs they were all clean, looked pretty happy except that my big dog's tail was brushed in the wrong direction and looked like the poor creature went inside a vacuum cleaner.I took a deep breath, I paid and left... couple of days later, I took my dogs around my boyfriends pool and they were playing around, on the flagstones, when my boyfriend noticed some blood on the ground.... They were bleeding off their nails!! Both dogs! Both of their back paws... now...dogs have blood vessels in their nails and what happens is, if you trim them too short, once they exercise , they wear off.. .this happened only a couple days after I took them to Ace Grooming so hey...I don't want to blame them but it is certainly a bizarre coincidence isn't it?They were the last one who trimmed their nails... Now they hardly walk...I really hope they will get better soon because it really makes me angry and upset seeing them like this... I would definitely look for a new groomer...:( read more

When searching for a groomer who would give my cat a lion cut for the summer, I had but one requirement: I was not going to spend more on my cat's haircut than I do for my own. Apparently, that was a lofty demand in this city of overpriced services, because every place I called charged $65+. Then, I stumbled upon Ace Grooming. The place itself is a mom-and-pop operation that looks like it hasn't been updated since the early '80s. They don't have a computer, instead relying on index cards in a box for client info, and all their paperwork is in piles around the front area. I guess not paying for software and a receptionist is what allows them to pass the savings on to me. And boy do they! I expected to pay $40, but it turns out that is the price for a wash and a cut. I knew just how my princess would react with a bath (I have the scars), and fantastically, getting the cut only cost $25! It was a little uneven without the bath, but I was told to expect that, and I was not going for aesthetics as much as I wanted a shed-free cat. The only point of note is, you have to specify that you want them to include the tail. I did not realize that, and I was a bit surprised that my cat's super fluffy tail was still super fluffy and made her look disproportionate. No matter. I will just make sure to tell them next time, because I will definitely be coming back here for all of kitty's grooming needs. Yay for a cute and reasonable pet salon! read more

Scaredy cat?? Check.... I have a fat cat that is truly scared of even venturing outdoors. She was shedding alot and so i finally decided to take her to get groomed. I took her in the early morning and the lady there was so sweet and took my cat out and petted her before anything. When i went back to pick her up in the afternoon, my cat was looking all fit and fabulous. I swear cutting her hair made her look thinner. She also smelled fabulous and had her nails trimmed for a very low price. She also didnt seem scared or traumatized. Overall, id recommend this place without a doubt. Make sure to call them to make an appointment since they dont accept walk ins and also NO credit card. P.S. I will be bringing my entire pet collection here to get them groomed. :) read more

When you walk into Ace grooming you'll see a few dogs at the grooming station looking calm, and a few walking around who are waiting to be groomed or have been done. It's very peaceful for a groomer, without those barking dogs in cages you often see. I don't think any pet really likes grooming, but they don't seem unhappy at Ace. My dog requires very frequent grooming and pretty much hates it. She has been to groomers before who complain that she bites, etc. Though she doesn't like going to Ace, she's always happy and calm when I pick her up, and she looks great. They tell me she behaves decently, so I'm happy about the whole situation. Not to mention, it's affordable and they are very nice. read more

My partner and I have an amazing pug and we've been shopping around for the right groomer for a while now...we have found our home groomer at Ace. When my partner went to pick up our little guy after a standard groom, Ramona immediately disclosed that a blade of grass had gotten into our pug's eye, which is important in breeds with sensitive or bulging eyes. She didn't minimize the problem and her concern was 100% about our little guy. We took our guy to the vet and she remained in communication with us after closing and throughout a holiday weekend and picked up the cost of our vet visit. Her commitment to our dog's health and well-being and honesty was so unbelievably refreshing and it really meant a lot to our family. When I called the person answering the phone was not very friendly and they were asking $150 for a puppy clip (shave) on a 4 pound poodle. When I questioned to make certain I heard correctly the reply was quite unfriendly. We went somewhere else and had a very positive experience.
