This hardware store comes in handy. For those times I don't feel like going to the big Home Depot or Lowes Hardware stores that are 75,000 sq feet big. This store helps me save some energy for the home projects. They are located in a shopping center next to a Meriwest Credit Union and Chavez Market and Dicks Sporting good. It fits the purpose of my shopping needs. Service is great. The store not that busy so plenty of help to find what I was looking for. I have bought the aerator screen that goes into a faucet sink and filter for our furnace and paint brushes for our home projects. Prices are pretty competitive and they have different choices for those of us that value our money. They also take used batteries AAA, AA, used light bulbs. The store is not that old. I'm so glad that they brought this store so close to home. We have been needing a local hardware store in our neighborhood, and every time I visit here they are very very helpful. Today, I had to replace some LED lights for my kitchen, and I carried them in, and as soon as I entered the door, a young man looked at me and asked if I was looking to recycle them or replace them or what my need was. And I told him I needed both. He proceeded to tell me where to find the bulbs that I needed in which aisle, and then also that I would be able to recycle them at the front desk. I found the bulbs exactly where he said I would find them, and the cashier was able to assist me with recycling the bulbs. It was a very seamless process, and I very much appreciated the attentiveness, and the ease of taking care of me in a really fast way. read more

This is one of those hardware stores that remind of hardware stores from childhood. It's not even close to a big box store. The shelves are tall and they use their vertical space well. They don't have a ton of each item favoring breathe instead. I decided I needed to make a shopping list because right now I don't have a lot of storage space. Better to walk around the store to jog my memory and find all the items that have slipped my mind. And it was so, I got a comprehensive list full of items that I'd forgotten. Just a smattering of useful items A caliper/vernier to replace the one that died Food grade silicone sealant to fix up kitchen utensils. Flex seal waterproofing sealant just in case your windows need waterproofing or just to seal up drafts A metal grade glue to repair broken metal parts. If you need to repair automotive parts they make one that can take high temperatures. JB weld makes several of these A fly trap. Oh yeah I need one. Household Goop- acts like rubber cement but so much stronger. I have some glue jobs that are 20 years old and still good. Of course if you want to remove it... I didn't spot a clearance section but the sale prices were quite good. Certainly I paid more on Amazon for some of these items. A fire extinguisher because I have set fire to my kitchen. More than once. Saved by my fire extinguisher. Rescue tape. This is a tape that can be stretched and will stick to itself. It can take high pressure. Great as a temporary fix for plumbing, garden hoses. It's been used to seal underwater fixtures both fresh water and marine. There is more but I had to leave to meet a friend. Next time... read more

First time visiting Ace Hardware! Local to my area and about a 5 minute drive. We had a home project to accomplish of installing new curtain rings for the living room. The staff were very friendly and communicative in helping us find exactly what we needed. We found curtain rings and it was easy to install also! I was helped at Ace San Jose #18860 and Jac was extremely friendly and efficient with the car key cutting and programming. Gave me multiple alternatives to find out what was right for my situation. I ended up getting one replacement key with all electronics for $160 and then another car key cut but swapping internals for about $30. This was a great deal comparatively to any dealership or people who drive to you and cut your key. As one of the two employees at this store that can cut and programming keys, I think Jac should get a raise. That's a valuable asset as the day before I came in, and they informed me that the key person was not in and I'd have to come the following day. I went to Ace Hardware to check out grills for Father's Day. When I arrived at the store, Jack was the person who helped me. Jack was phenomenal. He asked questions to understand what my needs were to help find the best grill for our family. He wasn't pushy or trying to sell me any particular grill. He was patient, kind, and answered all of our questions. I told him that we were in a bit of a rush to get our order in since we had family coming into town and we needed to have the grill ahead of time to make sure it was in working order. Jack called all of the other stores in the area and stayed late to ensure that he got our grill assembled and delivered as soon as possible. On delivery day, he called ahead of time to make sure he was coming at a good time and worked hard to get this (nearly 200+ pounds) egg into the perfect place in our backyard. We came in today shopping for a chainsaw. Jac provided assistance and was extremely knowledgeable about the Stihl saws. We decided on a saw and Jac walked us through the setup and startup of the saw. I proceeded back to the front of the store and asked a different associate for the code and they actually opened the door for me. I picked up the items I needed and went to the register where this same person was helping someone and in the middle of the transaction they had another associate take over and went to chat with another employee. At that point there was two other customers behind me that felt this was an odd way of doing business. I usually have very good service at this store but not today.
