It's cheap up front, but YOU WILL PAY. I have rented from many different companies with no problems. But every single person in line had an issue. The guy ( LAZIZJON) said that I was required to have their insurance ($479 in addition to the $300 rental fee unless I provide a full pdf copy of my full insurance coverage. I had 1 bar reception on my phone and their wifi didn't work, so after 45 minutes of trying to get it online, I called my insurance company and they were able to email it. It took me 2 hours at the car rental place. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he told me there was no way to contact a supervisor. Then later, when another lady yelled at him, he told her he would call the supervisor. So I asked "I thought you said I couldn't talk to a supervisor" and he just smirked. LAZIZJON was condicending and dismissive. This was everyone's experience (we were all frustrated and trying to support each other because it felt like a big scam). And to top it off, the bathroom toilet was overflowing. 1 guy told LAZIZJON and he sounded surprised that the bathroom was broken. Then 20 min later another lady asked him where the bathroom was. He told her and then acted as though he was surprised that it was broken when she told him. This car company will sell you on a cheap car and then REQUIRE you to buy their insurance. read more

This trash company tells me that's not enough and wants to sell me their dad by day insurance That costs more than a day rental. Then demanded I have my personal insurance contract with me. Needless to say I declined and they refused to cancel my reservation and are now making go through this company. F this company, complete roberry.. Don't rent..they're Not in jfk...u Gotta also take a shuttle there anyway which runs every hour. I promise you, it's not that deal.. Also complete unprofessional bums at the counter. Terrible company. Unprofessional. Canceled my booking on the day I was picking up the car without a valid reason or explanation or notice. I had to scramble to book another rental from a different company. They refused to issue my refund. I called corporate. The booking company have been trying to reach them, still no answer . The counter staff was very rude and didn't have answer to why the booking was cancelled or to why they never send a notice out before showing up to pick the car. It has been one week and neither I or the booking company have heard anything back from them. read more

This company is the worst, DO NOT RENT FROM HERE! First off they forced us at the front desk when we were picking up the car to go online and leave a "positive review" in order to get the car (that should have tipped us off as to what we were in for)! After we turned the car in, what they didn't tell us was that they were going to hold a $200 "security deposit" on my card and that after 21 days I could call them and get it back (this was supposedly to cover and tolls that we may have incurred). Mind you, they dont tell you this, I had to disscover this on my own! The really criminal thing though is that it is up to me to call them 21 days after my rental was over otherwise they keep the money! To make matters worse, I called them 21 days later and they then told me it was 21 "business days" and weekend days don't count! This is absolutely absurd and should be illegal. Once again, it was up to me to call them back to request the refund because no longer was it a hold on my card, it was an actual charge! I wonder how much money they make from this scam because so many folks dont even realize that they charged their card for both the rental and the security deposit as separatecharges. I hope this review either puts them out of business or changes this practice because it is not right on any level! read more

Horrible! Worst customer service ever! We arrived to NY at 11 pm. We were at the rental location around 11:30, there was a line. We got to the agent around 11:56 pm and they couldn't process our insurance because after midnight they close their business. We spent 2 hours there and they wanted to charge us another $450 for their insurance on top of what we already payed. We had to take pay $88 for an uber at 1:30 in the morning!!! And come back at 6:00 am the following day to pick up the car. Why would you allow operations after certain time if you're unable to process customer requests. I tell you why, because you want to scam customers into paying hundreds of mor $$ My children were existed we were super stressed, this unacceptable . And we had to deal with that because the company we booked through was unable to guarantee we get a refund. Stay away from Ace and their sister company Drivo. The customer service is beyond horrible. And all the agent could say is sorry. They offered us a 10% discount if we take a car at 1:30 am and pay their $450 up charge!!! Ten percent, insult to injury.... I had a terrible experience with ACE at JFK. They advertise a "free shuttle to and from" the airport, but once I returned the vehicle, they refused to take me back to the terminal. They started making excuses that the shuttle car was blocked and they couldn't get it out, which is completely unacceptable for a service they claim to provide. I had to call a Lyft back to the airport! On top of that, their payment policies are deceptive. They only disclose that they reject certain major credit cards once you're at the counter, which almost left us stranded. They also failed to mention that standard insurance wouldn't cover a 15-passenger van until the very last second. Between the lack of transparency and the shuttle excuses, this place is a nightmare. I booked a rental car through booking and paid in full in advance. I received a clear list of required documents: my driver's license and a credit card which I provided on arrival at the rental office. But instead of handing over the car, the staff started asking for a credit check. I've rented cars all over the U.S., and this was the first time anyone ever requested that. I agreed, since I have no issues with my credit history. Still, they said their system couldn't verify my address which I've used for over a year and is listed on all my official documents. We tried other previous addresses -- same result. While I was waiting at the counter for over 30 minutes, the employees were casually chatting about coffee orders at Dunkin' Donuts instead of helping me solve the issue. Then the manager came, took a photo of my ID on his personal phone (!) and disappeared for a while. Next, they tried to force me to buy their insurance. I explained I already purchased full coverage from another company during my online reservation. The employee insisted it was "not valid," took my phone, and spent 10 minutes trying to convince me using random Google results that my coverage was incomplete. When I asked him to show exactly where it says my insurance doesn't cover third-party damage -- he couldn't. After I pushed back, he suddenly said they could "make an exception." But then they circled back to the same issue -- their system "still couldn't find me," so they refused to give me the car. I had travel plans, accommodations booked, activities paid for -- and they left me stranded. I had wasted over an hour standing at the counter with no help, no solutions, and not even an apology. I rented a car, and the agent told me there would be a $200 fee if I planned to drive to Canada. He also offered me a free upgrade to an SUV. I agreed and paid. However, when I returned the car and received my final receipt, I noticed two unexpected charges: $140 for the Canada fee (not $200 as stated) and $60 for the vehicle upgrade that was supposed to be free. When I raised the issue with Davide, who works in customer support, and later with his supervisor Adam I was shocked by how everyone seemed to be covering for each other. Completely unacceptable. When I finally returned the vehicle, I was charged for things that were false and fraudulent, which I'm now disputing with my credit card. I never opted for their insurance--I even showed them proof of my own personal coverage, and they took down my policy number. Still, I was charged for insurance I explicitly declined. On top of that, I returned the car nearly full and was still charged for half a tank of gas. This company is poorly run, understaffed, and dishonest. A total mess from start to finish.
