I've been a fan of Aces & Ales since the original location at Nellis. They are remarkable for standing their ground and not selling out to Big Beer. Hence, the entire draft selection at all of their locations consists of craft beers made by independent breweries. The centerpiece of this location at Tenaya is the impressive selection of 50 rotating craft beers on tap. This includes plenty of strong beers for hardcore craft beer enthusiasts like myself. Now, it also includes beers made by the newest location in their family, Evolve Brewing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The size of the location is also impressive. It is divided into a gaming tavern (with ashtrays and video poker machines on the bar), beerhall sports bar, outdoor patio, and private event space.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] To me, the most unique item on their food menu--and its claim to fame--is the Eddie Spaghetti pizza. As Aces & Ales has evolved--no pun intended--the business has placed more emphasis on its food menu. Historically, their kitchen was secondary to their draft selection. Now, the business wants to be a restaurant first, and taproom second. Upon being seated, you are handed oversize food menus with heavy lamination (as done at their Evolve Brewing location at The Bend). These overshadow the single beer menu provided separately on a smaller sheet of paper. The server is trained to use scripted language to further induce you to order food. In other words, it's not the kind of place you can come for a beer without being expected to order food. Though, that is what the name of the business implies. I'm okay with the concept of the restaurant being primary, and the craft beers secondary. As long as this is reflected in the business name. For example, why not call it, "Aces & Ales Tavern, Restaurant & Taproom"? Similarly, "Evolve Restaurant & Brewery"? Another surprise during my most recent visit came after paying my bill by credit card. The server returned with a receipt that included a 2.99% "credit card surcharge." First of all, why is it not rounded to the 3% that it really is? Secondly, this is not a typical fee charged by restaurants. Therefore, shouldn't it be disclosed to customers before accepting their credit card? Furthermore, does this lack of transparency have the potential to discourage repeat business? Great food. The avocado melt is the bomb. Get it. I would suggest tater tots over the fries. I had such high hopes for those fries. From wings to chicken sandwich to a burger, everyone else at the table was pretty happy with what they ordered. I highly recommend the fresh margarita. It was the perfect thing after getting off a long flight. And I can't forget - if you are a fried Oreo fan give them a try. I am not an Oreo fan so I did not partake. First off, great beer selection (around 50 to choose from)! I did a flight of the 4 sours on the menu and they were interesting for sure. Secondly, the food menu looked pretty decent for a craft beer bar- plus the weekend brunch offerings look fun. For what we actually had though, the beer bites were really good, the fried pickles were better than other places, and as a self proclaimed sauce boss I love that we had several different sauces served with them. We used to love the Juicy Luci burgers. It was something we go out of our way to get but for some reason they might have change the way it's cooked and served . Taste completely different and no more of that bomb sauce it used to have. Just a plain burger now :/ That's unfortunate. Aces & Ales is a DIFFERENT one of those 24/7 gaming, bar, restaurant places with three locations in Vegas. They offer a really great selection of beers of different types. The food menu is a bit more hip and cool than from other similar places. Here you can try things that your grandma and grandpa never ate like "Chili Crisp" on a sandwich or a "Juicy Lucifer Burger." We were planning on going to a different restaurant that Yelp listed as opening that day but didn't so I had this place in my mind from reading a recent Eater Vegas Article so we went here and I'm glad we did! The Crispy Hot Chicken Sandwich is REALLY GREAT! It's a BIG giant juicy, crispy chicken breast dressed with a not TOO hot Chili Crisp, and adorned with pickled vegetables type of sandwich that is really great. My side was the side salad that also was very generous in size and tasted fresh made to order. I made a great choice selecting today. I also brought half my sandwich home for latter. My husband tried the Juicy Lucifer with Onion Rings. There is one problem on the menu and it doesn't list the "Crack Sauce" that is applied to the burger and my husband HATES anything mayo or mayo-ish and had to tell the server that he didn't want it on the sandwich (even though it might be great for most people) The burgers here need to be cooked to medium and above so this isn't for every burger eater out there. They have great craft beers and some rare selections such as Pliney , the elder. Tequilas such as Fortaleza.. just solid overall availability. 2. Food! The food is great. We ordered a custom pizza and I got a glass of their strongest beer on tap. I really wish I remembered the name of it, it was dark, bitter, and chocolately/coffee-ish. Aces & Ales is a great happy hour spot because they serve awesome drafts and the service is top notch! The pricing is decent for what you're ordering and the service is okay. At times you're met with servers who are super busy so it can be a bit of a wait and it can feel rushed if you're ordering drinks and such. I've been here for happy hour, date night and always had a good experience. What I do not like is when a simple menu item like French fries are neglected. I got some French fries because I was craving them for weeks and this location is a 3 minute drive. I showed up when they said, $5 for some fries and ranch. Price is worth it, it's a big portion of fries with a 2 ounce cup of ranch on the side. I dropped my ranch, so I could not taste it, but it looked homemade. Now the fries must have been sitting in the closed container for about 12 minutes total down pickup to eating. They're dry, crusty, and a lot of pieces that should be trashed. So you're either using old fries for customers in house and out, or you're just giving takeout orders old fries. They're not fresh, they're not crispy, just dense, overcooked, sitting in the warmer for a long time and tossed in the box. No salt, no seasoning nothing. I'm so disappointed in Aces & Ales. Well, upon getting your check, the owner informs you (on the check) that they will be charging a $.75 credit card fee, which is total BS and amazes me that an establishment that goes to all that trouble with marketing and details to get you in the door and they want you to come back again but then they go low class low-brow and charge you for what is truly a cost of doing business. So my $65 bill for myself that I usually spend will go to other places like STEINERS's who don't charge you the minutia. Not classy, whoever owns or runs this place. They clearly make their bread and butter from the surrounding hospital, medical offices, etc., but I still can't believe that they charged that fee. [[HIGHLIGHT]]And I was there on a Wednesday around 1:30 PM and there were only three other customers in the entire place which should tell them something.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] That's totally ridiculous and not worthy of my future dollars. It makes no sense when thinking about growing your business, to place an added fee on your menu or on your checks. Diners aren't there to offset your cost as a business owner for payments. You're supposed to work those fees into your business plan and the pricing of all of your food and everything that you sell. My assumption is at some point someone got the bright idea to make a little bit more money to offset those credit card fees costs, which does nothing to grow your customer base, to retain those customers that you've acquired either by marketing, location, etc. Thinking that it's a probably a captive lunch audience and happy hour audience from the medical areas, pharmaceutical reps, etc. But are you getting local business within a 3 mile radius? What (I assume) you may not know is the research which shows that diners/consumers do not like to pay those added fees and will actually avoid, on principle, restaurants and businesses that charge them for spending money with the business (and word of mouth, in this case, isn't a good thing). I mean, when was the last time that somebody told you how endearing it is and how much more value they get out of your culinary/drinking/gaming experience by adding that fee? FYI, one of the reasons I've never come-in prior to this visit, having lived here for over seven years, is that your prices are more expensive (like +5% or greater) for the online delivery service service menu and I personally didn't realize that you charged differently onsite and lower prices (anecdotally, speaking, from my experience, and observations, most restaurants offer the same prices across-the-board). Consistency. I would love to be a regular, and you sound like you're really cool. And if anyone who is reading this, if that fee isn't an issue, please go check them out, it's a really good experience. PS: the only and first place I saw the fee disclosed was on the check, after the meal, and I certainly didn't see it on the menu, where it probably isn't listed. Too late for me. So I had no choice because I don't carry cash. The great way to offset those fees is to bring in a lot more new customers. The $.75 nothing compared to the cost of acquiring new customers. Being classier will result in not only being able to acquire new diners, but to retain them. Loyalty. My wife and I have been going to Aces and Ales Bend (Evolve W Sunset) for the past three or four months. The beer selection is great, and it's cold. The offer of spirits is enticing, but our drive keeps us from indulging in it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a nice atmosphere, and the staff is fantastic.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My wife, who generally does not eat fried foods, took a chicken tender from my plate on our first visit. She was hooked! From that point on, we ordered chicken tenders for her, and I would select something different - something always good. She enjoyed the tenders because they reminded her of her childhood. Apparently, someone in her family had a similar delicious recipe. It was tasty, tender, and juicy - not greasy. On our last visit in June, she ordered the chicken tenders again, but this time it was different. Instead of 6 or 7 generously sized tenders, she received 4 small portions that did not have the same taste. In addition, they were tough and dry (overcooked?). I'm not sure if this is a matter of "shrinkflation," but we're not going to order that again. It's a shame. It was the best chicken we ever had - and we are in our seventies! Had a break during a tournament and 8 familys came in for a quick bite and some drinks. YES, I know, there was a bunch of us, probably 35. We also called ahead and gave a warning we would be a big group, we mentioned split checks, AND said we could add gratuity per check. EVERYONE came in, hungry, happy, and ready to spend money. You'd think a restaurant would love that kind of business, right? Nope. From the moment we walked in, they seemed bothered. Keep in mind, only 2 other tables were there when we walked in. We understand the pressure, so we also let them know again about split checks by Jersey number, tip, and that we would make sure none of the kids ordered food so we could keep everything organized. They just nodded as we filled in the three tables they prepared. The first issue was because a team dad moved his chair to an aisle to create more space. Staff rudely stated "I didnt put a chair there for a reason. We need that aisle to move food." Very hostile, but we undestood and adjusted. The second issue was when my toddler neice, being a toddler, ran towards the bar area and as my cousin went to grab her one of the staff spoke to the baby directly and was like "you can't be here, someone needs to get her out of here." Completely understand, but also, that's a little kid and you could CLEARLY see that her dad was right behind her to grab her. We understand liability, but the attitude and speaking directly to the child so hostile was unnecessary. The last issue was, the initial table space. The 3 tables had 10 chairs shoved to a table that normally fit 8. Not suprisingly, we needed another table. We asked to start filling another table, and all of a sudden, more attitude and less patience. We asked for another chair and staff replied with "there is too many of you, it's going to be too hard to serve you." We realized it was better to just leave. All of the money we planned on spending to feed all the families and the afternoon drinks we wanted to enjoy, did not seem welcome there. I don't want to imply if was because of anything other than guest size, but the Yelp pages say "good for groups." Look, we get it--big groups can be tricky. But hospitality means you handle it with some grace, not attitude. Instead, we felt like a burden for just showing up. We travel often, and have NEVER been treated like this anywhere, ever. Small local gaming bar and grill. The bartender was friendly and accommodating set me up on the rewards program relatively quickly and made sure I always had something to drink. The beer was good and they have a decent craft selection. I also ordered some of the beer bites which were pretty good with the dip that came with them. Main issue with this place is the price and game quality. Food is pretty expensive for a gaming bar even just the appetizer was over $10. The pay tables are pretty bad unfortunately and the offers aren't too good gaming wise. Overall would recommend for the craft beer at the very least but can't see myself coming back unless they give some good incentives. read more

We ordered the Yes, Please Cheeseburger and House Mac on Crack! The Yes, Please Cheeseburger was cooked medium and added with bacon/egg. It was really delicious and the fries that came with were like bigger in-n-out fries. The mac is also really good. It has a balanced amount of cheesiness and creaminess. I would definitely go back because everything during our visit went well. Some things to note is that it's super dark in the parking lot, I almost thought I was at the wrong place. One year ago I ordered just what I did today. I gave them 3 maybe stars. I said it wasn't terrible, it just wasn't good. Well, tonight it was terrible. I ordered fish and tots and a burger and fries. The tots were cold and barely cooked. I wasn't even sure what they were because they put them, undercooked, under the two pieces of fried fish. I asked for extra tartar sauce and they told my Dasher that would be extra...but put 2 malt vinegar in the box? The burger was soggy and the fries were barely cooked. So, last year same meal not terrible me..this year terrible. There won't be a next year Unless we eat at the pub. In the pub you'll find hot delicious food with wonderful employees. This just isn't the place for takeout delivery. One plus, the fish was delicious. read more

We visited on Friday for lunch with a party of four and it was a very nice experience. We arrived and sat ourselves in the bar area, be aware, the seats are quite high, my wife had some issues getting on to the bench. The waitress came by and we ordered drinks. They have a large draft beer selection, and the margaritas were strong. We ordered a few appetizers; Nachos, Deviled Eggs, and Bacon Bombs. All were well prepared and tasty, the nachos are huge. From there we got Mac & Cheese, Prime Rib Dip, Hangover Burger, and Fish & Chips. They were fresh and delicious. The service was very good. The waitress was prompt, friendly and professional. They also had a military discount, which is appreciated. Overall, a very good place for drinks and lunch. read more

Service was good, food wasn't. Ordered yes please cheeseburger, not great. Fried tater tots, over fried. Won't be coming back.
