I had a slight problem with my old oil company on Thursday. I ran out of oil, and my house was at 48-50 degrees for about 2 hours after I called. Long story, short. I didn't get my auto-matic delivery, and was out of oil. I called Albrights as soon as they opened. The woman I talked to was BRILLANT. She told me the best plan for us, explained everything to me in detail, with prices. And got me filled, that day! Even being a brand new customer that morning!! I talked to her several times during the day and she was so nice and helpful. The man who brought the oil, was awesome, I went out and chatted with him about what may have happened, and he explained it to me. They even emailed me later in the day, to make sure everything was running smoothly, and asking to give the furnace and oil tank a look. The man that came today, explained everything he was doing, looked at the furnace. And said everything liked good. I also, have my truck at the shop at Albrights today, for an alignment and tire rotation. I got a call this morning from the nicest mechanic, who told me, my little Tunney had a bad ball joint. And it needed to be fixed before the alignment. He explained what was wrong, and asked if I wanted it fixed, or if I needed time to think about it. Because it was a costly repair. Which I greatly appreciate. Everyone at this business that I have had contact with over the past four or five days, is so sweet and great! I really appreciate a small town business like this!!! When I picked up the car and began driving it home, it immediately started running roughly and the check engine light began blinking -- indicating an active misfire. This serious issue did not exist when I originally brought the car in. I returned the vehicle the next business day. Rather than re-checking their work or considering that these symptoms appeared immediately after the fuel pump repair, the shop diagnosed a completely different issue (spark plugs) and charged me an additional $900. What was most frustrating was being told that these were "two separate problems," that the timing was "just a coincidence," and that it was reasonable to pay full price for both repairs -- even though the second issue only appeared after the first repair and was not caught during the initial diagnosis. While it was acknowledged that it was highly unlikely the spark plugs happened to fail on the exact same day as the fuel pump replacement, the shop refused to consider the possibility that something was missed or that something occurred during the repair. After posting a review, the owner publicly stated that he hoped to discuss the matter further and work toward a resolution. I followed up with a direct email, but more than two weeks passed without any response. Given the lack of follow-through, I have filed a formal complaint with the New York State DMV so that a neutral third party can review the situation and find a resolution. I am sharing this experience so future customers are aware -- not only of the repair outcome, but also of what happened afterward. I expected the shop to stand behind its work when new problems appeared immediately following a major repair. That did not happen here, and I cannot recommend this shop.
