Love the patio! It's always a treat to dine at Acitron! My boyfriend and I were craving Mexican food and decided to come down to Acitron on a Sunday night. They have really upgraded their patio seating area which is now covered and filled with many plants and lightning. It feels like you are dining inside a green house. They always bring complementary chips and salsa and we always gobble them up and ask for refills! They have really good cocktails to choose from but this time we decided not to have any drinks with dinner. We decided to share their Oaxaca tomatoe salad and I ordered their enmoladas and my boyfriend got their shrimp mole with a side of Mexican rice and beans. The food always looks amazing and is always very flavorful. The salad was very fresh and crunchy and the dressing was very good. My enmoladas were very filling but I had to finish them because they were so good. We had a great dinner and the service was very attentive, our water glasses were always full! Acitron Cocina Mexicana... a must visit Mexican restaurant in Arlington! Located on Mass Ave, they have lots of meter street parking spots. We went today, on a Sunday, and were able to snatch a spot with ease for dinner, + free street parking Sundays. It was pretty busy on a Sunday night but luckily didn't have to wait for a table. The service was great, someone filling waters every few minutes. What we ordered: -tacos de pescado (fish tacos) with rice + elote $24 -choice of 3 tacos: Al pastor, chile verde, & carne estofada w/ rice + elote $22 Within less than five minutes after we ordered, our food was ready and arrived at our table. So quick! My favorite taco that I tried tonight was for sure the fish tacos. Great flavor and loved everything about it. Only thing I can think of that would've made the meal slightly more enjoyable was if the rice was more hot (arrived warming cold) & if meats were more hot. First off, beautiful little spot, bustling! Service is A1 thumbs up and thank you for such great service from start to finish. Waters always filled, food was prepared FAST. Yes we did opt for tacos tonight for a Sunday date night! The lady ordered the fish tacos and i must say out of all the styles we tried that was my favorite, pickled cabbage, crispy fish, great tasting with the sauce they got for it! The other tacos we got were al pastor with pineapple, chile verde and carne estofada, out of those the Al pastor was best imo. I did wish the meats and rice etc were hotter, everything came out pretty room / temp or slightly cold. (Not sure if it's supposed to be like that). The elote corn on cob had a nice char, good flavor and i really enjoyed that! The rice wasn't hot but it had tomato flavor and was soft and easy to eat with the tacos. Would come back again, nice date night atmosphere. Prices for most dishes were about $24+ and noticed tables around us, many ordered the shrimp dish might have to try that next time! Acitron used to be a favorite, but after my last visit, it will be a long time before I go there again. Three of us sat outside under their covered and heated patio. The waiter rushed us from the moment we sat down. Before we finished eating, he gave us the check. He came back 3 times while we were still eating to see if we had paid yet. Another server took my friend's plate from her without asking her if she was finished eating and still had food on her plate. We asked the waiter why he was rushing us out, as there was no one waiting for a table, and there was an empty table in the main dining room and two empty tables out on the patio. He said the manager told him to. We ran into the manager as we were leaving and told her what happened. She told us she would need to speak to the waiter to see if he was having a bad night. She said she would call the us the next day after she learned more about what happened. She did not call us. Total disappointment. There was no need to be rushed. Especially since no one was waiting for a table. Just bad service all around, and we spent a lot of money there. read more

I wanted a margarita tonight and wanted to try a different Mexican restaurant. So I looked this one up, had lots of stars and decided to try it. Oh and I am so glad I did! I started with the house margarita, because I've had a busy week. Well it was tasty! Satisfied my thirst. Next, I looked at the food and I saw lots of choices on the menu. I ordered fajitas, with chicken and you choose sides like rice, pinto beans, black beans or corn on the cobb. I could have had another meat or shrimp but I chose chicken. They do bring you chips and salsa, and the salsa was really good. When my meal came, it looked good. I tasted it and I was blown away! Okay, I did feel good with the margarita, but the food was very tasty and well made! With the rice, they bring sour cream, salsa. Everything was very good. Oh and the corn, out of this world! You must try it. My daughter had the fish tacos, and she had corn on the Cobb and rice. She was very pleased. Very tasty tacos. It's small inside but very nicely decorated. The waitstaff are friendly. For a Thursday night, it was busy. They also have a nice dinning area outside. I peaked and it's cute! I am so glad I found this place. I will return. You must try it. Love Acitron and have been coming here for 10+ years with groups of friends and family. They cook their food with care for taste, portions are perfect, fine presentation, and the service is some of the best in Arlington! Jose is my favorite waiter - so kind. In terms of plates, there are so many good ones but my favorite is the super spicy Camarones a la Diabla. Other good ones are the taquitos, guacamole, and chile relleno. If you like creamy dishes with vegetables, the Crepas de Rajas Poblanas is one to try. Finally their patio offers lovely lighting and ivy walls, which is a nice setting for 2 or a group. They are pretty full in the evenings so may be helpful to make a reservation. read more

First of all, well worth trying. I would like to start by saying the service was good (not a busy day), food was good quality, and the menu choices were appealing. Would try it again if in the neighborhood. But I would say the difference between the 3 stars I gave, instead of 5, which it could have had, really had to do with a bunch of little things which detracted from the food being great. For instance, the Guacamole was really a big serving with wonderful chunks of avocado etc. but simply had a pinch too much salt which instead of sharpening the palette upon the great guac, distracted it with slightly too much salt (my father agreed as well, so it wasn't just me that found slight overselling a theme). They do a tomato rice, which is nice, but on it's own could be come a tomato heavy flavor (I'm used to a lighter saffron style), but I found better mixed with the black beans, which also were a touch over salted, and hence better mixed with the rice. I had the Al Pastor taco, and it was good, but the grilled pork was slightly dry and the pineapple did help to moisten it, but seemed more stuck together and tasty, than it was well paired. The ground beef, once again just a touch over salt. The chicken with poblano sauce had a nice heat spice, but it would have been better if they let the pulled chicken sit in the poblano sauce overnight to soak up the deeper savory goodness, as opposed to seeming like a savory component tossed on top. My analysis might not be culinarily completely accurate, but that was how I call this one, and it could easily have been 5 stars with a bit less salt and minor improvements. It was just one visit, and would say I would give it another chance to win me, as it was so close be being really something I would praise. read more

I highly regret not getting the guacamole. My mistake. Ceviche with shrimp was good. Super refreshing with citrus and vinegar. Definitely light and delicious. Needs a little kick. This dish is so light and very nice to cleanse your taste buds. Ample portion for table sharing. The chicken tinga tacos were very heavy with a vinegar flavor. It might have been the mole. I'm not certain. They were more tangy than spicy. Not bad, but not my preferred. The elote was barely warm and the roasted flavor was not detectable, again hidden by a vinegar flavor. Alot of tangy without any spice. The food all looks beautiful. When i go back I'll definitely order something different. I highly suggest the guacamole as I saw it on another table and was jealous. We enjoyed our impromptu dinner here. We sat at the bar because we didn't have a reservation which worked out just fine. The Bartender was friendly and took good care of us. Great place we tried while on a visit to Cambridge and Boston for a long weekend. Brought our German exchange student for him to try Mexican for the first time. All the food was good and the drinks were also great. Only exception would be the mezcal drink I had was a little too acidic and low on the passion fruit. People that had the fajitas were happy. Salad itself was pretty good, with generous strips of avocado and the tortilla strips were a nice crunch, though I do wish everything in general was more chopped (only the red onions and peppers were diced). But the grilled shrimp was A+. It wasn't your average shrimp thrown onto the grill and seared but rather doused in some sort of spicy marinade. Top level. They give you free chips and salsa at the beginning (if you're a spice fanatic like my husband, I'm sure you can ask them for some additional hot sauce to add to the salsa). Sangria was good and strong, I definitely felt it after the first glass. If you're with a group, order the pitcher size. I was recommended this place in my search for authentic Mexican food. It is a small cozy warmly lit environment. Everything I ate was fabulous, perfectly seasoned, and juicy. The restaurant was empty when we arrived, but outside, the patio was loaded. The staff was quick, friendly and answered all questions. Very sweet waitstaff. Food came out quickly and was fabulous! Drinks were perfect (margaritas) Not overly expensive, but comparable to local places. The patio was wonderful. Parking was on street and easy. As we left the inside was completely full.
