Fast forward 18 month and one of the air control motors failed and needed to be replaced. The technician presented a quote for $600.. I questioned the technician on the cost of the part, really not believing this part was that expensive. I declined to have the work done. Right after he left, I removed the air control motor by unscrewing a single screw and purchased a new one for $54 delivered.. I sent the purchase invoice to the technician with a description of my disappointment in such a charge, for a part that was so inexpensive and so easy to remove and install.. remember I mentioned I recieved 2 years of labor with my purchase and therefore no labor should have been included in the cost. I asked the technician to forward my concern to the owner, Gary. It's been weeks, and I have not heard anything back from either the owner or the technician. Why can't you trust contractors these days, you have to watch them and question everything they say needs to be done.​

Not quite a year later the capacitor went out again (our unit is old and needs to be replaced, so it going out again was normal wear and tear). It was two weeks shy of the original replacement so nick replaced it at no charge. Just like our first experience, he was prompt, courteous, and honest! He was transparent about what did and did not need to be replaced so I felt comfortable he was not just trying to sell us everything he could. I received a phone call this morning saying our technician was on his way and would be arriving in 20 minutes. Walker arrived right on time and addressed the issues we had. Our first issue was that the outlets in the garage sometimes trip for no reason. The service call charge is $84 and that gets applied to the bill in terms of covering your first issue. We had an outlet replaced and that should take care of the tripping problem. Our second issue was a request to add an outdoor outlet in the front of the house. I can't believe when the house was built they never thought to install one. We have 2 indoor outlets right on the other side of the brick and windows. Walker was very professional and knowledgeable and added the outlet outside and it has a protective box around it so moisture won't get into the electrical outlet. Walker did a wonderful job and I highly recommend Selectric Services for any electrical work you may need.

The cost was what we thought high ($750 for all units or $150 each). The tech was knowledgeable. One unit needed a new thermostat and he quoted $595 to replace it. He stated that two units had weak fan motor capacitors and recommended replacing them at costs of $218 and $185. There were other items he recommended replacement and one I agreed to because that unit had stopped operating. I declined the three items mentioned here because I believed the prices were outrageously high. The prices he quoted were for the parts as my "tune up" charge covered the labor for minor fixes. I looked up the prices for the three items: Thermostat: $75 Capacitors: $10 Each So, Roberts was going to charge me $998 for a thermostat and 2 capacitors that I can buy retail for $95 That's a X10 markup Anybody know a good AC guy in Galveston who works for a fair price?

They tested the system, found it was the lineset and gave me a price for the repair. The price seemed high enough to have included replacement of the line. After the work was almost done I saw the leaking line had been repaired, not replaced. I asked why, and they said they had not priced it that way and replacing the line would have cost more. They were willing to give me a discount on re-doing the work, but not credit for the repair I had never wanted. I cannot imagine why they priced a job differently than what I had said I wanted without at least warning me the work they were pricing is not what I had said I wanted.
