I've visited this store a few times lately, most recently to find whole nutmeg. After searching other stores for a couple weeks and coming up empty, I was please to find whole nutmeg here. I found some other stuff too! I remembered seeing large bins of bulk candy and spices at Acme. So I figured, why not visit again to see if they have whole nutmeg. I didn't realize whole nutmeg was so expensive! It's like $74/lb. But I only bought two seeds, which ended up being $1.49. I'm following this chef that swears by fresh nutmeg. As I was walking around the store, happy because I found whole nutmeg, I saw a couple candy aisles. They have all the good stuff from when you were a kid. See the pictures of those candies that I posted. They have an amazing alcohol selection also. They have a ton of wine, a ton of spirits, and it's not the cheap stuff either, and all the beer you could possibly drink. Need a bottle of Stoli? They got it! They have top shelf liquor and you don't have to sneek into any silly state liquor store to buy it. I asked a worker discretely, "Is there a special cash register for this hard liquor" and he's was all like, "Na, man. You just take it to the checkout." I'm going to have to visit again. Pricey I love trying new grocery stores and on a trip to fairlawn decided to give this one a try. We went on a Sunday evening and the store was not crowded which was great. They do have a large selection and more variety. I didn't feel like the produce selection was that great. Not as many options and lots of rotten produce mixed in. Unscrupulous business practices when it comes to pricing. Haven't had this happen at the Medina Road store but several other stores have been guilty. Some seem to be notorious according to social media. Much too often to be a coincidence. You have a bad reputation on social media. Many people complain about your corrupt practices. If you were honest you would probably have more customers or at least keep the ones you have. A lower price on the shelf and a higher price when you check out. That's illegal. It's theft. Sometimes there has been a sale sign on the shelf and when you check out it's not on sale. Illegal, that too is theft. If you blame your workers for the problem I suggest you fire them. No one would work for me that did that. If you condone it yourself well then that's your problem. If I conducted a business I would treat my customers with honesty and respect. Maybe that's old school and you don't do that anymore. I have done most my shopping at Acme so long ago I can't remember. Back when the store first opened on Manchester Road. Gradually I have had problems and shopped elsewhere but Steve Albrecht was a great man and always corrected things and so I always went back. Seems like it's out of hand now that Steve's gone. Very seldom do I shop there anymore. Other stores are much better. They seem to be more honest and they are respectful of their customers. If you rip your customers off you have no respect for them and I personally resent that. I wouldn't rob you and I don't expect you to rob me. read more

There's a nice little fresh market store that my wife and I went into while we were staying in the area at a hotel and needed dinner for the night and snacks. So we got some lunch of bulls with the kids and get some lunch meat and bread and chips for the family. I like this place. Partially because I worked here through college, but also the set up, location and yearly sales. They hire a lot of students, as well as seniors which I find admirable and enjoyable. It's clean, they have periodic police presence and everything grocery wise you could ask for. The pharmacy employees are great and the entire store is inviting. read more

I have always loved Acme! I've been to other locations many times. I was excited when I saw there was one located near our hotel, sadly when I visited to grab a few things I was disappointed. The store seemed dirty, the items we needed were extremely picked through and they didn't have a good variety. I worked at acme fresh market for only 4 days and I had to take two days off cause of my sons doctors appointments and the management said that was fine and when I got hired in they told me my hours were perfect. But when I went in I was filling out paperwork to get paid, I turned it in and I told my manager that I was pregnant just out of respect to let them know once I did that, the manger told me that today was my last day cause my hours didn't work with them. Why tell me one the day I was hired that those hours would work but all of sudden they don't work. And that is just bullshit, how do they think that is right tell me that my hours were perfect when I got hired and then when I come back in that they don't. That doesn't make any sense. I got told that I could finish my shift and then leave and never come back. But I didn't stay because I am pregnant and I was stressed as hell and I didn't want to stay there and become fore stressed cause of acme. Don't work here cause they will just tell your bullshit lies about your hours can work and then all of sudden they wont. read more

As my neighborhood grocery store, I like it. I was an Aldi shopper before I moved to Fairlawn and grew to really dislike the local Aldi. Plus, my husband is from Akron and grew up with Acme, so he turned me on to this place. The prices are pretty high unless you only buy their sale items, which for me is not hard to stick to since I'm not picky. Bratwurst on sale this week? That's what I'll be eating. Shrimp on sale the next week? Shrimp for dinner it is. Seriously, if you shop their sales, you get a bang for your buck. Make sure you get an Acme card if you shop here or you miss most deals. The store is clean, spread out and associates are usually nice. Also the liquor, wine & beer selection is expansive! If you live in the area I recommend as your go-to store but have other options on your radar for deals you might miss here. read more

I'm giving this Acme two stars based on the staff. It is a nice grocery store but they just recently went thru a major renovation. I went in today looking for bread crumbs and it wasn't obvious to me where they were located. After searching every aisle for an employee I finally found one. The female seemed so agitated that I was bothering her and when I asked her where the bread crumbs were she rudely says "either at the end of aisle 7 or 8." She didn't even look up from the box she was unpacking. Of course the bread crumbs weren't at the end of aisle 7 or 8.... I eventually found them in aisle 5. Most grocery stores are the same and what should set them apart is the service. I just am not overly impressed with the customer service at this location. read more

I am here almost every day to the point the hot foods folks know me already. I love their daily lunch specials, especially the turkey (cajun or smoked) and deviled egg potato salad on Tuesday and the brisket on Wednesdays. They are nicely priced and very tasty! I also find everyone is always friendly and will stop and chat for a second if you have the time. If they have their sauerkraut balls or green bean fries..TRY THEM! I keep giving Acme chance after chance with their meat because it's convenient to buy all my groceries in one place. I'm always disappointed, for instance I made a huge batch of chili this weekend. I didn't have time to go somewhere else for ground beef. 3 bowls in and three bone chips later I will end up pitching the rest of it. How can that be possible?! Employees need guidance on how to handle complaints: small example, bought a loaf of bread from the bakery. When I got home my wife said there was mold on it and threw it away. So, today I go in to pick up my prescription and stopped by the bakery. The guy, said he is a designer( of bread?) tells me I have to bring the bread in because anyone could say that and get a free loaf if bread. Really?? I regularly shop at this Acme. It does get fairly crowded at times, but the prices are reasonable, the produce, bakery and meat and poultry items are always fresh. I really enjoy the fact that the isles are wide, it's new (was recently renovated, 2013) and they have a large beer, wine and liquor selection. They could have a few more cashiers working at times but I'm understanding in that the customer headcount varies throughout the day and days of the week. read more

Seems like the cranky old register workers have moved on, now the younger staff running the registers are fantastic. They are amazingly pleasant and helpful. Plus they always ask if I want items like bread or pastries in a separate bag. Also, you can request paper or plastic, ask to have something packed separately, bring your own bags if you're so super concerned about waste or just show some initiative and bag them yourself via self-checkout. I'm always able to find an associate if I have a question, and am walked to the isle to find the product I'm looking for. Take advantage of their weekend sales, you can't beat the prices and use the store coupons. Two years ago, the customer service was abysmal and I would have given Acme two stars, but the improvements they've made merit a five star rating. read more

The staff in the deli and meat department are great. The prices are a bit high and Im always bagging my own groceries as they don't have enough staff. I work third shift and normally go when they just open and most items in the deli are not even ready yet. The staff is great but its hard to believe the staff gets in before 0600. read more

I have been a faithful supporter of this store for 25 years and I can't do it anymore! They used to have a great meat supplier that changed sometime ago and now the steaks are average if not below average.
