Horrible Service !! They are just fortunate to have been an essential service in this unprecedented times - otherwise would not patronize them - The signs are confusing I stood diligently in section where it states " Line Starts Here " as I had only 5 items the security personnel told told me to go to self checkout - on going there saw another line - I stood on the side where i could have gone quietly to the register waiting patiently apparently the extremely rude employee " Emely " who said go back to the line - mentioned was in the line already and another employee with red bandana told me you can't read - it got more crazier - she told me to shut up - all over my position in a line -later the security guards intervened I did get back in the line on self checkout without making an issue further - after finishing the purchase I told the first security guard that he sent me to self check out realizing his mistake apologized - but I did ask for Manager his name was " Pastor " looked baffled didn't say much only basic sorry which he didn't mean it as when he came out from his room didn't seem interested to help - I know we are going through this horrible time in our lives - it should bring more empathy towards one and other but apparently - NOT AT ACME in Edgewater- NJ very sad turn of events .. read more

The worse experience I ever had !!! My husband as long as my father went to return meat because it was expired and rotten and when I tell you was rotten it was bad, as soon as I opened the meat the nastiest smell came out of it !! They asked to speak to a manager and the manager tried to say " what you guys emptied out your freezer because you guys need money " that the kind of people you hire to work for your company acme ? This supermarket was better when it was Pathmark. It's expensive and be careful of the expiration dates. I've seen expired merchandise on the shelves. Also, stay alert at the checkout area, the signage incorrect for many of the items and if you notice and say something, you will get the item for free. read more

ACME IS A SCAM!!!! OUR LOCAL STORE IS PLAYING GAMES WITH OUR MONEY. HMMM, Whole Foods, Cafasso, HMart, Trader Joes, Mitshua, and ACME??? Save your money, whoops, I mean go buy better because you won't save money here. Acme takes the place of a reliable chain of food stores in our area and starts mixing it up. At first I was worried about the quality drop off from a Philly chain coming up here but that quickly waned as they seemed to try to bring or keep the same products. They neither improved nor declined the products offered. Service seems the same, listed prices are okay, but seem to have risen. HOWEVER, the most important thing is the price at the register. I have been shopping there since the changeover. In 50% of the visits I make (since I have started paying attention) there have been overcharged items. On those visits the average is 2 out of 10 items that were overcharged. Of the items overcharged, those made up a 10% increase on the bill. Which means 1 out of 2 visits to Acme stores costs me an extra 10% due to mistakes between pricing on the shelf, and the prices charged at register. I do not believe these are silly mistakes on their part. In one case I picked an item up from the closeout shelf and was charged the standard price, okay maybe a mistake in their inventory control and pricing. On another incident the item was listed on the shelf as a sale item but rang up at normal price. Next an item bought off the shelf listed at 6.99 rang up at 8.99, for no apparent reason. This seems to be endemic in their stores. I have never experienced a mistake in my favor for example. I have noticed other things and will post them as I discover more but for one example, they price the produce in very tricky ways, alternating the price per Lb, per package and by count on the same or similar items next to each other to make you think you are getting a deal on one or the other. For example: a shelf with portobello mushrooms will show prices on the shelf selling these by the pound, quantity, and entire package At a glance, if you do not notice this difference in pricing you would be inclined to think they are all listed by the package price and compare them all on that criteria. It would appear one is cheaper than the other, but it really isn't. When they are compared using the same criteria, say weight, the one that appears to be less expensive turns out to be more. Example: You see the 18 oz package (smaller) next to the 2 pound package selling for 4.99, then see the bulk 2lb package with a shelf price showing 5.99, but you don't notice this is by the pound not by the package as the one beside it is listed. So you would think to grab the bigger one (2lbs @5.99lb) that shows a price of 5.99 on the shelf tag thinking it was a better bargain, hey it is almost twice the size for only a dollar more, then the register rings it up by the pound making the package cost double what you expected. So they fool you into thinking you are getting a good deal causing you to actually buy more than you might need and spend twice more then you thought. I am sure there are other tricks they employ to get your money, so I would say everyone beware, and post your experiences so we can call them out on it, or just shop somewhere more expensive where you will get better products, Caffasso's is my recomendation or Whole Paycheck. If you are going to spend at Acme you might as well shop Whole Foods, you'll end up paying as much in the end due to their trickery but at least get what you paid for. ACME IS A SCAM Oh and for those shoppers who miss the self checkout, ask yourself why they removed them. Perhaps shoppers would be more likely to notice the difference in price if you check yourself out. A cashier doing it for you, makes it less likely to see those scams. I have started to keep a notepad with me each time I go there, and avoid going as much as possible. read more

Pleasant shopping experience - m huge store, wide aisles, bright lighting, no crowds, ample parking. I am not sure how this store will survive in the long term given the low customer traffic. In the meantime, I'd recommend taking advantage of this ACME for your everyday staples and other packaged foods. For produce, I would still recommend Hmart (or whole foods if you are less price sensitive). read more

Bad night at Acme. Deli closed at 830pm, sign says 9pm, because as the two deli people said, they were short. Open and closed times should be consistent. Go to check out, and asked one checker is she was open, and said no. Only one checker left with light on, no big line, but two morons in front, a price check and someone forgot their coupons in their car. Not Acme's fault. No 15 or less check out line either. Wish they did self check out. When I left the checker that said she was closed had a line. Get some consistency please. Think I'll try Trader Joe's for awhile and see how they do. read more

I'm writing this review not from just one visit, from several visits? I actually like going to this Acme! Every single time I have shopped here I found the staff to be very friendly and enjoying their work! There has not been one time while I was browsing along that one of the employees say "Hello" or "Can I help you"? The prices are ok not the best, but I go elsewhere for certain items. The selection is good, and the store is clean ! Overall, I don't cringe when I have to go food shopping, I now enjoy being at a place where people like people !! read more

First of all, there is NEVER anyone around when you need help, and if there is someone they are busy having their own little personal conversation to bother to look up at customers! Second, I understand that it must be hard to keep a great positive attitude when you're on your feet for your entire shift, but please be happy to have a job and look up at approaching customers and offer a little smile. I've been frequenting Whole Foods and Trader Joe's more recently because I don't have the time to walk from aisle to aisle looking for an item or to find someone to assist me. There is rarely anyone in the meat department and not even a sign posted to say if anyone will return to that department. A little advice to Acme before hiring: please stress the importance of your employees possessing a welcoming demeanor for your customers because without customers there will be no jobs. read more

Nice market. 4 stars for having a organic grocery aisle. Though I did spot some expired organic milk but after telling the staff they quickly removed them. Nice produce section. Clean store. Wish there was a self check out but Acme doesn't do it. Overall it's a big store with plenty of brands to chose from so I'm pretty satisfied overall. read more

The bakery in this place is perfect! I make cake orders for my toddler bday cake every year and they take their time taking down the details of what you want & they don't rush you. The cake always comes out better then I imagined it. :) I definitely recommend them. read more

Visited acme yesterday afternoon and had the most pleasant experience . My first visit to the store so I was not familiar with the aisles , I asked for help and Patty stopped mid track of stocking to assist me , walking me to the aisle . Understanding at times workers are not always accessible or available to instantly assist , this experience was extremely appreciated . Eric was my cashier and his eagerness as well as conversation sealed the deal of Grade A customer service. This store is a disgrace. Just left the store the day before Mother's day and No Mother's Day cakes on display and no fish in the fish Department.. They should have left this store as a Pathmark..
