This was dinner last night. I went a little crazy. I normally order my deep dish from Chicago and have to wait a week and then attempt to cook it appropriately at home. Now yes, I'll pour one out for the missing OG Chicago tavern pie--but what they do offer is a legit Chicago-style stuffed pizza. The ingredients are high quality, the sauce is bold and savory with real tomato chunks, and the crust is straight up chef's kiss. This thing eats like it was built with purpose. I drove about 30 minutes out of my way from Raleigh, and I'll happily keep doing it--especially for big Chicago sports moments (like a Bears playoff game... which, let's be honest, don't happen often). It's genuinely a taste of home. I'm getting serious Giordano's vibes, and I'd honestly love to hear the owner's backstory--because I find it very hard to believe some random person in NC just decided to casually start slinging Chicago-style stuffed pizza at this level. This restaurant has a nice open pizza pub vibe that is clean and well-maintained. The owner/management are visibly present and carefully overseeing the staff which is noticeable in both positive and negative ways. The food itself is a mixed bag in that there Garlic Knots are really good and their thin crust pizza is inconsistent. One time the pizza was excellent, the second time it was honestly terrible. If the Coyote ever found out about the Acme Chicago Style Stuffed Pizza, it would be all over!!! The Road Runner would stop dead in his tracks if he found it on the road! Came here on a Sunday and the restaurant was not full at all. Nice decor for for a pizza joint. The wait staff was very friendly. We had the wings and the wedge salad and both were very good. Wings were meaty and the buffalo sauce was very good. I ordered the deep dish sausage and pepperoni and it wasn't bad but it lacked that wow flavor I was expecting. I had driven by ACME Pizza quite often but never really thought to try it until my wife was out running errands and noticed the smaller font "Chicago Style" below the main logo and came home and suggested it knowing that Deep Dish is my personal favorite. Our server was very helpful and after learning it was our first time dining with them, made some very helpful recommendations such as, consider ordering appetizers to hold us over, as deep dish pizza does take longer than traditional pizza to prepare. Deep dish pizza takes a while to cook, so plan accordingly if you want to do lunch and dine in. Acme also has a pizza challenge: 1 hour to do 1 medium deep dish pizza with 4 toppings. I'm probably too old at this point to do silly ish like that, but then again... I might not be able to resist trying it. We found ourselves traveling through Holly Springs, and remembered that we had Acme Pizza pinned to our must try restaurant list. We quickly called them and placed a to-go order. Be aware that the deep dish pizza isn't going to be ready in 15 minutes like your everyday fast food pizza. We were given an estimate of 45 minutes, during a quiet afternoon. This also isn't going to be a $5 hot n' ready, be prepared to pay over $30 for a large deep dish pizza. The price will definitely be an issue for some people, but you can probably feed 6-8 people since it is so hearty and filling. The pizza was amazing! It was absolutely loaded with meat, veggies, cheese, and sauce! This is the best deep dish pizza that we've found here in North Carolina.
