I been in Rome for last several days and tried many restaurants and this place is on top of my list. Great fresh food amazing customer service. Don't even think about any other places. Just come here.

Acquasalata is a cafe in Rome, that serves both food and illy coffee. I came in here after being approached by a waitress, I shown her my coeliac gluten free card, and she understood it!!!!! After a long, painful progress of finding gluten free, I finally have... well sort of! They didn't have a particular book or dietary labeling, but they was someone who was able to tell me if something was gluten free, it was a little hard in translation as my server didn't speak perfect english, but we still got there. I want to start on a negative and say I was upset that no one came over while I was eating to make sure my food was okay, I'm sure the woman standing near to me would have taken negative feedback but as she was just standing their waiting at times, it would of been nice if she took a moment to check if everything was okay. It is mainly outdoor seating, with a little inside and they is a big menu outside, where someone if often standing. They is wifi here, which as I recall is the cafe name followed by 2015, although I'm not confident of that, so I would suggest checking with the staff! I ordered some baked potatoes, I didn't really know what to expect other than potatoes cooked in oil with garlic and rosemary, would they be like jacket potatoes, chips, cooked potatoes, wedges? They were mainly like crisps but hot and cooked, they were okay but they were nothing special, and probably was slightly overpriced at 5.50 euro, by a euro perhaps as they were basically homemade crisps. Most of the crisps were quite soft, and you could tell they was a potato, but in some parts they were crispy, and I found it to be far too crispy and I prefered the more softer ones. It was pretty pricy here, for 2 small coffees and my meal, and a cheesecake (not for me, not GF sadly) it was about 25 euro, and the quality could of been much better. I must comment, the cheesecake was presented immaculate, and my friend seemed to enjoy it! The staff were not great, they did seem nice, trying to help but still as I said, it would of been better for the both of us, if conversation flowed better, things were explained better and easier in english. I was very upset to be approached by a beggar when I was trying to eat my food, I was sat in the chair closest to the high street and in all honesty I feel the staff should do something to avoid things like this, especially when paying, customers are trying to enjoy a meal in their restaurant. The outdoor seating isn't particularly nice, the seats are garden chairs, which are able to fold up but it is a hassle, and the staff seemed to struggle, and the table I sat (not physically) on was quite slanted, which worried me a little as I had a hot coffee, which was okay but nothing special or fresh italian coffee as it was simply illy, which is available in England, but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it. Even though they could provide gluten free information and my food was up to a satisfactory standard, everything here is at the lower end of average, but still I don't feel this place deserves more than 2 stars, for the following reasons: - The staff could speak more fluent english, hence making it easier, and asking me how I was getting on. Although I appreciate them trying! - The outdoor seating is not too nice, although not the worst I have seen - They did originally only bring the one coffee instead of two! - The situation with the beggar also disappointed me.

Daniel, the son of the chef and part owner was gracious and conversational and made great recommendations for our dinner. We started with a crispy sage leaf appetizer made simply with sage leaves lightly battered and fried in olive oil. Yummy! All of the pasta is made fresh and Mary selected Ravioli ricotta e Spinach while I selected Saltimbocca alla romana (Veal slices in Roman style) and both dishes were delicious. After dinner we opted out of dessert, but Daniel brought a treat to the table consisting of two sugar coated cookies and suggested we soaking them in our wine as a final treat. They were Wonderful! So far one of the best meals we have had in Rome. We would both highly recommend this restaurant, both for the family atmosphere and the great food. We hope to return before leaving Rome.

Review # 1200 After…read moresome shopping on the Via cola Di Riemzo, we were ready for lunch. This spot was a Yelp find. We arrived just before they opened at 12:30. We asked for a table outside and the kind lady asked us if we had a reservation (oh oh). We didn't. No problem as we took our pick of one of the tables. Two levels inside with a small Bar in the back. Before we knew it, outside seating was full and inside also filled up-a good sign. We ordered a liter (ended up being too much but when in Rome...) of their house Red and enjoyed it. For starters, we ordered the Fried Artichokes (thick breading and will order the Roman style with garlic/vinegar next time), fried Zucchini and Suppli-Cacio Pepe. The Suppli was delicious and was enjoyed the most. For main, it was Pasta Carbonara (Guanciale )-Proper carbonara and the streak of not having a bad version of this dish in Rome continues. The sliced Beef with mushrooms was also delicious -super tender and thin pieces of beef (medium rare as requested). We asked if the Tiramisu was house-made. Our server answered, "yes, and I am the one who makes it." How could we not order after that?! One of the best Tiramisus we've had. Perfect balance of coffee dipped lady fingers with cream-delicious! Our Server was kind, attentive and full of hustle -she was covering a lot of ground. Don't miss this Gem if you are in the Prati district.

This place was a treat. Yes, it's hot in the summer. Yes, it's crowded and popular. But also yes, the food makes it all worth it. I had the oxtail pasta at the recommendation of the waiter (and a couple Peronis to drink, ofc). This is slow cooked oxtail that just serves to bring even more flavor to the hearty tomato sauce, ladled over the aforementioned thick homemade pasta... and plenty of it. Served of course with fresh bread and regional olive oil and vinegar, what better? We actually had plenty of attentive service here, and it was honestly the only time a tip was ever mention in our whole time in Italy. This young man earned it. As I mentioned before, it's hot inside. There is air conditioning according to my eyes, but you couldn't feel it making any kind of difference between all the people, the kitchen, and the absolutely stifling temperatures of a Roman summer.

Our family of four was waiting to be seated when a local family of four arrived after us and was seated immediately. We were eventually seated right next to them, and they were served bread while we were ignored and received none. We ordered wine that was never brought to the table, and at one point a waiter who was not even serving us removed our wine glasses after we had already ordered the wine. The service throughout the meal was chaotic and rude. The artichoke dish was extremely bland -- no seasoning and no flavor at all. Most of the food was greasy and disappointing. To make matters worse, we were seated directly next to the kitchen where the cooks and waiters were loudly arguing throughout our meal. We understand that service in Italy is often slower and more relaxed, and we have enjoyed wonderful hospitality everywhere else during our trip. However, this was by far the worst service we experienced anywhere in Italy. We were even asked if we wanted the bill before we had finished eating, while the local family next to us remained seated comfortably long after finishing their meal. We left feeling unwelcome and discriminated against. Unfortunately, this restaurant seemed interested only in serving locals well. If you are not Italian, do yourself a favor and dine elsewhere. We absolutely do not recommend this place.

The menu had all the Roman classics, and we ordered Pasta Carbonara, Casio e Pepe with Guanciale, Roman style artichokes, and Zucchini Flowers. After a few minutes, I was transported to the Jersey Shore. As the food arrived, that Jersey Shore analogy grew into reality. I have tasted this food before. Il Ragno d'Oro became a mediocre Italian restaurant in Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey. However, I was in Rome, Italy and expected more. My Pasta Carbonara was heavy, stuck together, and thought al dente was a bodega in Newark. The Cacio e Pepe had coagulated into a sticky mess. The artichoke and zucchini dishes were greasy and standard fare for an Italian restaurant anywhere in the world. But I was in Rome! Roma-the home of Pasta Carbonara, Cacio e Pepe, and Artichoke preparations. Yes, everyone was perfectly nice, the prices were reasonable, and the people around me were all having a grand time. My wife, who is of Italian heritage, couldn't eat her pasta. She said her Italian grandmother would have gone into the kitchen to show them how to cook pasta. I too, usually a human garbage disposal, left most of my pasta on the table. We walked back to our apartment in Prati disappointed. This was our worst dinner in Rome. Sorry, but it's true. Maybe the cooks had a bad night, but the dishes were subpar at best.

The only thing I can say that was off, was the older woman who was paying her bill before me was pressured into leaving a tip ( service charge, is what he said). I was prepared for that but was not asked to tip. Great meal, we enjoyed it immensely, but the service charge that was scammed out of the 70+ year old lady in front of me kind of left a sour taste in my mouth. It is a large restaurant and was full of lively patrons. The indoor decor is warm and inviting. The first thing I noticed was the camaraderie between the waitstaff - everyone seemed to get along, helped each other and were having fun. We had 2 wonderful Filipino waiters. One had the same Ray-Ban meta glasses as my husband, which they bonded over. We ordered the bombolotti carbonara and lasagna-both delicious. For the mains, grilled Turbot (which was perfectly de-boned tableside) and meatballs w/ mashed potatoes. While the waiter was de-boning the fish, the song "Take Me Home, Country Roads" by John Denver came on overhead. My husband and I both looked at each other and smiled, thinking WTH?! I asked the waiter, "did we tell you we were from West Virginia?" and he smiled and shook his head. But later confessed, he played it for us (I guess we did tell him, lol). It made our night. Rome was the last city in our multi-city 12 day tour and we loved every minute but we were looking forward to going home. Hearing "Country Roads" at a popular and busy restaurant a block away from the Spanish Steps blew our minds. A young couple sat next to us for a quick snack, I asked her what she ordered (it looked delicious) and she said "Im from a different part of Italy but come here just for their artichokes". A few minutes later, I saw a plate full of artichokes pass by, being brought to a table outside. They made my mouth water. Al 34 was one of our favorite restaurants in Italy -- wonderful food (extensive menu), very lively with a mixed crowd (lots of Asians, English speakers and native Italians).
