A couple disclaimers before I review Acre. I was at Acre for a rehearsal dinner with an open bar. SO. I am not factoring in prices to my personal experience. Therefore, take this one with a grain of salt. That being said... I really liked Acre. Part of what struck me about it was that it was one of the first truly unique microbreweries that I'd encountered in a long while. They're as popular in the day as they are in the evening because they double as a craft coffee house during the day, and then make the chance to craft cocktails at night. I wish that I had more of a chance to sample their Java, but alas, it was already 8pm by the time I arrived, and coffee was not calling to me. Their drinks were very good. They offered a selection of whiskey, gin, and vodka cocktails, as well as some high quality Moscow Mules (which is quickly becoming one of my favorite drinks). I did glance at the prices and they were steep. But I didn't worry too much about it; it wasn't coming out of my pocket. However, it is clear that this is a 1-2 drink place. Located in the heart of Downtown Ft Worth is Acre Distilling Company, known for the award winning bourbon, malt whiskey, vodka and gin. We walked in and to my surprise there was more spirits to choose from such as moonshine, liqueurs and even coffee. We walked up to the bar and the bartender recommended a flight. A flight includes 4 spirits of your choice. We ordered the Cherry Bourbon Bounce, Cinnamon Girl Whiskey, Texas Rye and the Texas Single Malt Whiskey. My favorite was the Cinnamon Girl Whiskey, it is packed with cinnamon flavor and goes down smooth. The whiskeys were well balanced and did not burn going down. After the flight I had to try at least one cocktail before I left. I ordered the Ft Worth Fire which is made with Cinnamon Girl Whiskey, lemon juice and maple syrup. It was quite delicious and I highly recommend it. If you want to take some of your favorite spirits home they also have bottles for sale. My only regret is that we didn't get a chance to stay for the tasting that they were hosting. We will definitely be back. read more

We signed up for the tasting tour - and it was fantastic! This was our first time visit; we noted a great happy hour (all day on Sunday), clean space, friendly service. The tour was led by the owner and it was fun, informative and interactive. 7 different spirits were offered with great explanations of their distilling process and some fun Fort Worth history as well. The Two Minnie's Gin was a favorite of ours. We took advantage of the 15% off bottles for takeaway offered. Can't think of any reason to not give this place 5 stars. Went for the tour/tasting on 10/12 and it was fantastic. The guide was great. Knew everything about the process and the products we were tasting. The price was only $15 and we got about 9 (generous) tastes event though the tour said we would only get 6-7. Didn't feel rushed and met some great people. Their gin and aunt maddies blackberry infused tea vodka was freaking stupid good! Bottle prices were way less then in the store (especially when you check in via Yelp). Go. It's fun. And it's that time of year. read more

They do a one-hour tour for $20, and it comes with a free cocktail from the bar; what's not advertised is that you get to sample between 8-12 of their offerings. This is a distillery, so they make liquor. Tony pours you half-shots of liquor and tells you the history of Fort Worth's historic Hell's Half Acre. Hearing the history is amazing, and almost worth the price of admission itself, especially if you're not familiar with the area. And, to boot, the amount of alcohol you're served will have you stumbling out toasted unless you've eaten beforehand. Lightweights beware. On top, you get a free cocktail, usually a ten dollar value. 10/10 I've taken this tour three times, and always bring my friends. Breweries are a dime a dozen in most cities, but distilleries are far rarer, especially ones that do sampling tours. The bar area itself is in their production facility, with windows overlooking their production floor where you sit for the tour. Nice wooden tables are available for people who don't want to sit at the bar. This place also has a coffee bar, supplied by Magnolia's Avoca. Makes the place a nice area to work or study in the early-late afternoon. They have an expanding menu, primarily offering charcuterie boards and hand-made pizzas. Both compliment the liquor nicely. The drinks are all hand made; all of the liquor products, by TABC regs, must be produced in house. This includes the bitters and other liquor, making for an impressively unique experience. The cocktails are more expensive than other bars but definitely worth it. This is my all time favorite place in Fort Worth and I can't recommend it enough. read more

So glad to have found this place!!! They are making some killer whiskeys, vodkas, gin, and rums. My favorites would have to be the Longhair Jim Straight Bourbon, Limoncello, Cinnamon Girl, Blackberry Sage Vodka, and the Golden Halo. The bartenders are BAD ASS. This place not only makes kick ass liquors, but they are killing it on the craft cocktail game. The Old Acre is a perfect version of the Old Fashioned. They do tours on the hour every Saturday until 7. We were thinking about doing a tour, but got there at 4:30 so just decided to kick it with a flight. The quality of these liquors are incredible. Everything is made with food ingredients including the cocktails. I can easily see this being a spot I would frequent and even pay an Uber to go to. That's saying something in my book. A nice distillery with good whiskey (yeah, and other stuff). I'm a big whiskey fan so naturally, I like to check out the local digs whenever I'm in town. This was one of the few spots open when I was hunting for whiskey (I seem to recall it being a Sunday), and so I stopped on in. They have a nice bar that you could sit at and try everything yourself or a "tour" where they'll let you try tastes of it all. They have a great staff of folks that provide a wonderful story-telling experience in the tour but it's more of just that, a story-telling experience at a table while tasting their spirits (good spirits, at that). read more

I finally got to make it to this place and I'm so glad I did. They have a free parking lot in the back, otherwise street parking is free after 6 and weekends. Upon entering, the interior is done very well and is visually appealing. A nice place to come hang out and grab coffee, snacks or cocktails. My friend and I explored the menu and the owner came over and talked to us and was very friendly. I ordered myself a Raisin' Mary which is their form of a bloody mary. It came in a boot! It was pretty good and I thoroughly enjoyed it. During the tour, you go into the distilling area where you sit at a large table to taste six different styles of their spirits. They will talk about the history of the area and turns out the owner was a part of Rahr when he helped them get off the ground as well. Really smart guy! They explain the whole distilling process and it is phenomenal. I tasted items from the cheese board and pizza and they were fantastic however they do have other options on their menu. If you are in Fort Worth, this is a MUST. Happy drinks were so reasonable which gave us a chance to try out their different drinks. We sat at the bar and listened in to the conversations the bartender had introducing the brand and drinks. If Celia is working you are going to learn a ton about all their bottles. The water is also high quality; the owner explains during the tasting that the water they use goes through three different filters, so you know the water is good and clean. My wife and I have been wanting to try this place for a while, so we went over on a Saturday about 7:00 PM to check it out. As with the other reviews, the space is well laid out. Great view of the stills, ample seating for couples to large groups, and a long bar. There was a really off putting smell the whole time we were there that I could not put my finger on. It smelled like something had been burned. Remember, this was my experience and my opinion. I highly recommend making your own decisions, however hopefully this review will prepare you for your visit. Here is my take on the rest of the place: Bartending Staff: I never expect someone to fall over when I enter an establishment, however a smile and a greeting would be nice. The bartender looked at me and said in a gruff voice with no facial expression, "What do you want?" I usually walk out if I run into someone like that. I know we all have bad days, but at the end of the day, they are in the hospitality business on top of selling spirits. During our stay, I noticed he was the same with everyone he encountered. I felt the view of customers by the bar staff was one of inconvenience. Drinks: My wife ordered a cocktail with whiskey, cold brew coffee, honey syrup, and egg whites. I had Acre's riff on a Sazerac. Both cocktails were satisfactory, but lacked balance. I know this sounds pretentious, but I'm really not. All you could taste in my wife's cocktail was coffee and syrup. My cocktail was WAY anise forward. Acre does not have absinthe for the glass wash like a classic Sazerac calls for so they used a different botanical and all I tasted was anise. We probably should have gone with flights so we could taste their spirits alone. Food: We didn't order any food, but noticed a large group with multiple pizzas half eaten. That I don't understand. Maybe they weren't hungry. It just seemed odd to leave that much pizza. We saw a meat a cheese board come out and it looked great. Overall not a horrible experience, just not what we were expecting. I hope that the negative aspects of our experience were isolated and when we return, things will be different. We always go back when we have a less than stellar experience because everyone has a bad day now and then. Give Acre a try and draw your own conclusions. read more
