This place blew me away. It may not look much in the small strip mall but when you walk in it's most inviting and the aroma in the air is delightful. We got the grilled cheese Oh Yea!! We will get it again. It seems like everyday theirs a lunch special 2 courses for $14.95 all the entrees sounded delicious, we tried the Chicken Swarma and Moussaka, we were both please. We got to taste the Hummus with the Swarma and if was full of flavor lots of garlic. This was the best Moussaka I have had other than homemade at someone's home. Came to Acropolis searching for legit Greek dining and it did not disappoint. The food here is spectacular and affordable. I had the leg of lamb lunch 2 course lunch special and it was superb. I started off with the lentil soup which was unlike any other lentil soup I have had at any other Mediterranean restaurant. The lamb was perfectly sliced and seasoned with lemon omg was that good. I was a little jealous of my friend's meal, a whole side of redfish grilled to perfection. I will definitely be back. read more

When anyone mentions Acropolis for lunch in my office, everyone wants to get in on that order. The food at Acropolis so downright delicious. Their Greek-Mediterranean cuisine is of the best I have tried. I absolutely love their Moussaka. I have to stop myself from eating the whole thing because it a good size portion. Their hummus and baba-ghanoush is bursting with flavor. Sometimes I order one of those for lunch on its own. You have to get there early because they fill up quickly. They have a small closure window after lunch before dinner so check the hours. read more

Acropolis has been one of my favorite Metairie spots for years! I have never had a bad dish here and I love the variety of options they have. Every time I go here, I try something new off of the specials menu on their chalk board and it has never disappointed. My favorites so far off their specials menu have been the kasseri burger and the crabmeat stuffed flounder. I also enjoy their wraps on their regular menu with the california wrap being my absolute favorite. Their ingredients are fresh and their roasted veggies side is by far my favorite off of their menu. I never usually order soups off of menus, but I cannot seem to stop ordering their 6 onion soup every single time I go! It is so unique and the flaky pastry on top pairs so well with the creamy onion soup. And I cannot even begin to express how great the staff at Acropolis is! They recognize me every time my family and I come in and they are always so welcoming. Aside from their outstanding food, their staff is one of the reasons I never hesitate to go back! I always enjoy my dinner at Acropolis! Here you will find a variety of 4 course meals for the low, low price of $18.99! This includes homemade soup, salad, entrée, and dessert. I normally order one of the fish specials, and especially the last two times I ordered fish it's been cooked to perfection! Another item I always enjoy off the regular menu is the gyro. The gyro meat here is really to my liking. One menu item I just have to mention is the pork chop entrée. They serve two huge pork chops cooked to your liking. You really have to see it to believe it! Aside from the food I just want to mention this is a small family owned and run restaurant. The owner is hands on and he cares about his customers. Busy place. We wait a bit for our order to be taken. Once it was taken the food came out quickly. The toasted ravioli were good. Reminded us of St. Louis. Seems odd I first reviewed Acropolis Cuisine years ago but as I re-read it there is nothing in that review that still doesn't ring true. We ate there Sunday and it was great. I just ate my leftover Chicken Acropolis and it has to be one of my very favorites dishes in all of NOLA. The Spinach Cheese Pies are just amazing too. We often have the same young lady wait on us...I don't even know her name (updating again...I think her name is Rebecca) but she is always very nice. Everyone is always very friendly and it's almost like your being served out of your friend's kitchen. If it's my birthday and I can go anywhere in the city this will always be one of my top picks. I'd even pick this little place above places like Commander's...it's really been that good and consistent over the years. I can't say enough about this little hidden gem on Vets! read more

I LOVE GYRO WRAPS. Like I'm seriously obsessed with them. I came here to eat lunch with my friend and we both got the gyro wrap with fries. We also got the Hummus appetizer. Their pita bread is not your typical pita bread. It has a certain flavor to it that I love. It was quite addicting. When the gyro wrap came out I was so excited. The gyro meat was tasty, not dry, and delicious. Even if I don't eat anything else on the menu, I'd love to have the gyro wrap again and again and again. Sadly, I hated the fries - they were fat steak fries that were way too salty. That was a little disappointing. Not much seating area, and the servers are very frazzled for only 10 tables, but the owner or chef (not sure) who gave us our food was really sweet. read more

Wow!!! My wife and I were blown away. We stopped here for lunch today and was amazed at the service and food. This was our first time here and heard many great things about it. The people working here are very attentive and polite. Our food came out quick and was awesome. My wife and I both had the gyro platter with mixed grilled veggies and a salad. One of the best Caesar salad that we have ever eaten. The gyro was good and the season that they put on the grilled veggies was awesome. Our drinks were never empty and the portions were big. Came here to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. I'm usually not big on Greek food, but this was PHENOMENALL (double "L" because ALL of it was PHENOMENAL)! The ravioli appetizer was perfect and could serve as a small meal on its own - my boyfriend said he was so full from the ravioli it was hard to find room to enjoy the gyro he ordered! The menu suggests which wine to pair with which dish (so helpful!). My shrimp salad was great. Just - perfect! I crave it even now as I write about it - crisp salad, excellently prepared shrimp, creamy dressing. We walked in one week night to have dinner. There was no hostess and a waitress told us there weren't any tables. We saw several that weren't being used, but hadn't been cleaned. I don't know if this place requires reservations, but it was a week night. We were told to go to the back area and wait. There isn't much room when you first walk in, I almost hit a patrons chair walking in. I am part Greek myself, and I would never go back. Staff was not friendly and I felt more like we were bothering them. Update: we will be returning to the restaurant to try it again. I'll post on it later! The owner is very professional and nice so we will give it another shot. read more

We absolutely loved this place. I party included 6 people. This restaurant was referred to us by one of our party members who actually resides in New Orleans. We were not disappointed at all. I had the lamb and shrimp kabob, steamed veggies, with a Caesar salad. Absolutely delicious. My boyfriend ordered the gyro wrap. I had a bite of that, delicious as well. The fried calamari was our appetizer with their homemade marinara sauce. It was great as well. Other party members had the pepperoni pizza (tasted great), lasagna (a huge portion and so delicious), another gyro wrap, and I believe pork chop (large portion). Our waiter was very pleasant and attentive. He gave us his suggestions and answered all of our questions. We will definitely return when we visit New Orleans again. This place is a Mediterranean hidden gem. It is inside of a really outdated, dark and grim looking building in the back of the shopping center, but do not let that defer you! I honestly wished I could have taken a photo of the chef because you could tell that he was actually from a Mediterranean country by his dialect and the way he dressed. I wanted to make a meme out of his photo and write TOTALLY LEGIT! The staff is very welcoming and cares about you. Fast, prompt service. The food was amazing! The best hummus I have ever had and all the vegetables and feta cheese were fresh. A decent sized portion as well. Let's start out mentioning the great service. The waitresses were exemplary. They tend to your needs even before you need them. Granted there were only 5 other people in the restaurant. The other patrons were of the older type and the waitresses kept them engaged in a group conversation, after dealing with senior citizens for awhile it's usually the highlight of their day. I ordered the gyro wrap with house fries and I just had to try the moussaka. The gyro meat was a bit dry and crispy. I could tell it wasn't freshly roasted. The taste was good though and my gyro held its shape while I ate it. First time having moussaka and it was good. Had a bit to much meat for my taste and way too much garlic. I don't do well with a bunch of garlic. Overall it was a good meal at a decent price, great service, comfortable atmosphere and I will be back for more when I have that taste for Greek food. read more

This is the only real Greek food in this area. The chef is actually Greek not Mediterranean. The food is authentic and always tastes great. Baba ganoush and spinach pie are phenomenal! If you are lucky enough to go on a day when they have pastichio as a special, I highly recommend it! read more

Since my last review, I have revisited the place, and I noticed that the service has improved and wee were promptly seated. While eating our dinner, I overheard that one of the staff members had made a mistake on one of the takeout orders and the manager or owner offered to deliver the correct item to the customer, which was pretty nice of them. This was really great food w awesome service at 2:30 pm on a Friday afternoon. We split the Greek salad and each had a gyro wrap. Salad was huge and had more of a balsamic dressing than Greek. But very fresh and yummy. Gyro was wrapped tight in paper, served on plate w fries. Fries needed more time to cook and were soggy. But gyro was packed full of lamb gyro meat, fresh lettuce and sauce. We did order more taziki sauce on side for $1 because it was sooo good. Cute, clean, cheery place. Service was amazing. Small 10 table place but will be a go to place for me every time I'm in NOLA.
