Decided to try ACS because the house we bought already had their system and they gave us a 3 month credit. Also a former owner told us they monitored the neighborhood well and responded quickly to calls. After over a year, that hasn't been our experience. First, our alarm went off twice for no reason, and when I called they told us it was a problem in our neighborhood. We had ADT for 14 years in our old house and that never happened. Second, twice when I called ACS for non-emergencies (one was a billing question), they wound up sending a couple guys to our house who thought there was an emergency, which was bizarre. The first time, it took them about 30 minutes to arrive, longer than what they promise. The 2nd time I don't know when they arrived because they called me from outside our front gate 20-30 min after I made the billing call to ACS. They told me they'd been standing out there for 20 minutes trying to figure out if someone was in our house. You can't see much of our house from the gate, and I have no idea how they thought they were helpful watching a corner of our house from a distance. They didn't call the police, they didn't call us - they just stood there waiting. Not protective. Third, we've been trying to cancel our service and every time I call I'm transferred to a phone where I only get a voice mail message. Fourth, I have seen one ACS truck, one time, monitoring the neighborhood in well over a year. Maybe they were around a few years ago when they were selling people in our area, but they are never around now. Finally, they are significantly more expensive than other companies I've talked to. We just want a security company that will respond responsibly and quickly if we ever need to call them. ACS has proven they're not reliable for that. Interestingly when we replaced their system, they didn't even call to say their equipment was being tampered with. The guy took the unit out of the wall and removed all the sensors, and ACS didn't call. I asked about it and the guy who replaced it said there was nothing that would notify them of tampering. This review has been a long time coming. Rodney was my contact person who came to my home . I got his information from my friend who lives in Santa Monica. He was out there getting customer contacts for ACS. I inquired about patrolling in my neighborhood in Sherman Oaks. He said yes they could do that. He came over and buttered me up for many hours. All of this Windbagery so he could just get his commission . What a Con man. They NEVER Patrolled my streets or alleyways for the extra $60 a month. I paid a hundred and $60 dollars a month for nothing. I had made many phone calls inquiring about the discrepancy. They would not make any adjustments to the payment, because they said that's what I agreed to pay. When the alarm sounded off when I was not home,they were not helpful at all. They never called me first and I am the owner of the home. The lady on the phone wanted to discuss casually my call list , meanwhile my dogs are listening to a high pitched alarm. I spoke to the office manager who handles accounts. He was very difficult to talk to. He didn't understand what I was asking about the price and patrolling. He then told me they occasionally drive by the front of my home. This is not what I signed up for. He said there was nothing he could do for me to make it right. I was getting very upset and he could not help me. Do not waste your money with this company they will soon be bought by ADT. They lie and they say whatever they need to say. They NEVER called to see if things could be resolved or if I needed anything. Never a follow up call about my call list. They can care less. ACS is great. They come within minutes when I call which is a million times faster than LAPD will come. Some of their office staff are bone heads but it doesn't affect their response time, and it doesn't affect the quality of their guards. I don't give a shit about people working in the office, I care about how fast they get here and how effective the guard is once he gets here. I used to have ADT and if I called because a nefarious character was by my home, they would tell me the same thing that LAPD would tell me, that if it's not illegal they can't do anything about it. Well not ACS. They come and will be tough as fuck to a potential threat to you and your family. THAT is what I pay for. An armed, protective, dickhead who's on my side to come and scare away the bad guys when I call. That's what you get with ACS's guards. read more

ACS's customer service is possibly the worst I have ever encountered. I've had three major issues with them. The first is my house was broken into while my wife and I were out of town. The perpetrators broke a large glass window which was used to enter the home. ACS informed me that their security personnel could not stay on premises until I took a flight to get home 2-3 hours. They would not even agree to stay at the home until a temporary cover was put on the window. ACS left the premises while anyone could simply enter the house through the broken window. I asked the manager what the protocol was for a situation like this and he said the company didn't have one. They are a security company! The second major issue is the company made it incredibly difficult to cancel service when I moved homes. I am now on my seventh communication with ACS about terminating service over a 4-5 week period and the issue is still not resolved. The third issue is ACS' lack of promptness when responding to alarms. Our alarm has gone off accidentally several times over the years and there's usually a 5 - 20 minute delay for just a call back. Furthermore, I think it took them approximately 30 minutes to send a patrol car one time when I was unable to answer their call. The reason we used ACS is because the headquarters is less than a mile from our former home. What good does a security company do if they show up 30 minutes after the alarm was triggered? We just transferred our security services to ACS. Our house is very long and in the past we had so much difficulty installing cameras. Our technician Damian Swanson was very knowledgeable in this field and fixed the problem by ordering the right equipment. We are so happy that finally our cameras are working. Wish I had consulted Yelp before signing up with this "service." Seems a lot of customers have shared my frustration with ACS. On July 23 I answered the door to an ACS solicitation. Very nice young man, but everything was downhill from there. I decided to switch from ADT because our neighborhood recently hired ACS to do physical patrol -- figured it made sense to combine my security services. My monthly fee was to be $85 for alarm and patrol, debited on the 20th of each month beginning on 8/20. I was told that my activation/initiation fee was $0, that they could take over my existing system, that they would add two extra motion detectors for free, and that they would even refund me any charge I might incur by cancelling my ADT service. Sounded great. I scheduled the installation for 8/7. On Friday 8/7 ACS showed up for the installation/set-up and I was informed that they couldn't use my existing system after all, and that they didn't have the equipment necessary to install a new one -- that I should expect a call from the office later that day to reschedule. Mistakes happen, fine. But I received no call. On Monday 8/10 I noticed that ACS had debited my account $240 on 8/3 through a company called My Alarm Services. I called to inquire about that and to set up the new installation appointment. ACS told me I needed to call My Alarm Services about the charge. I did; My Alarm Services told me "no, you need to call ACS." So I called ACS again. The billing department was unable to take my call that day, so I left a vm and made a new appointment. Okay, I was still willing to try. I left another voicemail with ACS billing department on 8/11 or 8/12. No return call. On Thursday 8/13 I noticed ANOTHER $240 debit from My Alarm Services was taken on 8/11. Today, 8/13, I again called BOTH ACS and My Alarm Services. ACS put me into voicemail AGAIN (twice), after I pleaded with them to speak to someone and that my prior messages have gone unreturned. They say "I understand ma'am" and then put me into voicemail anyway. My Alarm Services initially continued to insist that I need to speak to ACS, but then after I pushed a little, they indicated they "might" be able to refund the unauthorized charges of $480, but she would not be able to get back to me until MONDAY 8/17. ACS totally spinned it to me that going local would be so much better, that I'd have individualized service from a company that cared. What a joke. What they are is unprofessional and inept. You can't even get help during business hours; I'd hate to see what happened if I really needed them in an emergency. Seriously, these companies are a JOKE, if not a rip-off. Stay away. Be very careful signing their contract. After two years in a 3 year contract they decide to increase my cost and a rate higher than what they offer over the phone to anyone. I had been trying to get ahold of their accounting department for the last couple weeks in order to get some information regarding a bill we received... I left messages and never received a return call. I called back only to be put on hold for 15 mins while I tried to actually get a hold of someone in their accounting. I was then told by the woman who put me on hold that I would have to be called back, she was not friendly nor helpful at ALL. After holding she even asked who I was holding for... Totally unacceptable and unprofessional! Now I guess I wait for them to call me back which I doubt will happen.. Overall quite pleased with ACS. Rep Ryan F. is a champ. A few tweaks in the initial installation, but they were all addressed and resolved, always a good thing to have the same CS rep just in case. If I need something, just call and it gets worked on. ACS makes an effort with customer service and techs, not too big to form a relationship with the client. Good Skills will keep your clients happy and from calling with issues. Used to be with ADT, but was just an account number to them, they just collect your monthly fee- never see a patrol and when they raise prices they adjust or take away 'features' unless you pay for them. . We have been paying for ACS patrol for almost a year now. They don't come by that often and cannot see our front door from the street but I kept them anyway. We decided to put a security system in after they kept calling me to try and set up an appointment. The salesman seemed nice and told me that it wouldn't cost anything to install the system so I made the appointment for installation. When the tech came, he said that we would need a whole new system and it would cost us over $1,100. I was upset because I never received a call from the salesman after the tech guy left. I called the salesman twice and he told me to reschedule and he would give me what I wanted. Another technician was here 2 days ago to work and the same thing happened but he promised that a supervisor would call me and I can't believe that no one has. I hate to leave bad reviews to hurt anyone's business but this is just ridiculous and I don't want anyone to fall for their scare tactics. read more

I am putting NO STAR here because ACS security is the worst!!I have had the worst experience ever from providing the service to dealing with their customer service. These people are crooks and rude. They do not care about their customers or the service they are supposed and meant to provide. We signed up in september 2015 with ACS security for a patrol in our area. Someone showed up to our house and rushed us to sign up with a three months for free offer over six months. We were told that we could cancel anytime BY PHONE. By March 31st I tried to cancel by phone like we were told and no one ever rang me back. Until I got an invoice. I reached out to customer service explaining my issues and the person yelled at me and was extremely rude telling me there will be no refund and that they will carry on invoicing us until we cancel with a written notice. Again, we were told that phone cancellation was possible and easy. The reason why I asked for a refund are the following: 1. We were told that the whole patrol would come and introduce themselves,. They never did. I asked several times. 2. We had several packages stolen when they are supposed to watch out for this and hide the packages somewhere. 3. They were supposed to watch for unknown cars in our driveway and yet we have had several friends staying with us and leaving their cars on the driveway during the day. NOT ONCE DID THEY REACH OUT to ask us if this was normal. NOT ONCE. And this happened at least four times. 4. The whole cancellation was a mess and we were given the wrong information. 5. I got sent the invoice and after bringing all that to the attention of the customer service I still got a phonecall from them, asking for their balance. I reached out to customer service again and they had the guts to phone me to ask me for payment. I will NEVER EVER deal with these people again and honestly I recommend you to avoid them at all cost. These people obviously provide appaling service and want to make sure they can steal your money by telling you lies about their policy. read more

Just signed up with ACS, we saw a couple of guys sitting out front of our house which kind of frightened us, we called ACS Patrol showed up immediately. We recently left ADT after being with them for 12 years and we're so glad that we did, the sales rep was amazing she was very informative. We're extremely happy with ACS and the response time because that was our biggest concern with ADT we had to rely on an LAPD and we all know how long that takes, but ACS is always on top of it I recommend ACS to anyone. read more

This is a scam company. First things first they do false a advertisement whoever came to my house to offer anything was for a patrolling service not a whole alarm company service. Second of all they told me this alarm pay was going to be month to month instead of them claiming I have a 3 year contract with them. They make you sign a contract that says it's a 3 year contract when in reality whoever gave you this paper told you it's a month to month. I already had a different alarm company set up and they came and changed everything when all I needed was a patrol service which is actually funny out of all these months I've had with them I've seen them patrol by my house once.. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY and whenever you're signing papers they give you make sure you read them because I guess they tell you something and make you sign a whole different agreement. Now just because someone told me a different agreement and I signed papers I need to give them there full money for the 3 years because they threatened to send it to collections.. I have them for patrol only. After I complained that I never saw their cars actually patrolling, the situation improved. I had not been told that vacation monitoring is set for a specified number of days/year, so I was billed an additional amount last year as I was abroad. It's fair but I wish that I had been notified in advance. When I'm away, they did leave little check in notes, which were appreciated. It's good to know that they're there. read more

We signed up less than 3 months ago. Once installed, we had our first false alarm, which resulted in a $362 LAPD bill. The false alarm was surprising b/c my wife input the code to disarm the code. Apparently ACS has said that my wife didn't put in the code quick enough and that required them to call the house (but my wife had already left the house) and when ACS then tried to reach both my wife's cell and mine, we were unreachable. I was in a meeting and she was driving. Clearly, you can imagine a situation where something like this happens and is unlikely to be an isolated scenario. Following this incident, I now understand that calling protocol is set, but the problem is that if ACS does try to reach you, they don't leave a message or the number that they use to call you is not a number you can call back (it just kept ringing when I called back). As a new customer, we certainly were not aware of this and so we ended up getting a false alarm bill because we just didn't even know that ACS had been trying to reach us or that the police had been dispatched! This certainly requires a learning curve, but the problem has been the customer service in the aftermath. As others have cited, the customer service at ACS is less than courteous or professional. My wife was visibly upset with the curt reaction and dismissive attitude of the individuals she spoke with ACS. I have since followed up with ACS hoping to try and find a solution and to avoid again risking another false alarm and the only solution appears to be us signing up to a response service that dispatches the local armed security rather than the LAPD. This may be the only solution to avoid risking a large multi-hundred dollar false alarm bill in the future. I'm sympathetic to the fact that ACS was following protocol, but the lack of responsiveness to try and find a solution after repeated messages left has made the situation even worse. read more

They are by far the worst and least professional company I had the displeasure of coming into contact with. 1) I tried setting up service with them in late 2015 and I took them 10 weeks to actually come out to do an install. The tech showed up with equipment not meeting my requirements we had discussed. Needless to say, I send him packing. 2) Nobody followed up to correct the issue until I called them for continuous monthly charges for a service that was never setup. 3) I received 2 false alarm fines in excess of $600 from the police department that I had to pay. Keep in mind, we did not even have an alarm system. ACS was reporting the alarms to the police out of thin air. Don't even try to understand the situation!!! I tried to explain to the police department, I did not have a service with ACS and ACS had absolutely no equipment in my store but could not prevail and ultimately had to pay the fines. 4) ACS after requiring extensive documentation and hours on phone calls, agreed to repay me for the fines and reimburse the monthly charges. 5) You would think we were done? Not so, the charges started appearing again, causing anguish and wasted time on the phone with ACS manager. The charges were ultimately reimbursed because I disputed the charges with my credit card company. 6) Against my better judgment, I took a call from ACS manager, what it seemed like a sincere apology and wanting to correct all those wrongs and agreed to start service with ACS. I truly feel like a jackass!!! What do you think happened? After nearly a month of requesting the service, I requested in writing to cancel the service because once again nobody made any attempt to contact, install and start service. 7) Weeks after sending my requesting to cancel, I received a voicemail this morning from the same manager trying to correct their wrongs, saying he has me on schedule. What!!!! Clearly, there is no communication within ACS or they are just plain dumb!!! Trust me, don't spend your hard earned American dollar with these imbeciles at ACS. There are professional alarm companies out there that can meet your needs. I'm very happy with my security/alarm setup now. I'm not ready to endorse a security company just yet, but stay clear of ACS if you value your time and money. GOOD RIDDANCE ACS!!!! read more

The worst decision I've made in my life. The salesman lied to me. He Promised me that if I, ever had a problem in my business they would show up with arm response. I guy showed up in my business waiving a gun, so I pressed the panic button. The only arm response I got was a call from the comp, asking me if everything was ok. I said no and I had to call 911. We just did an upgrade to our alarm system, and are absolutely delighted that we chose ACS to do the job. The joy began with the initial consultation: George, the service manager who helped us, couldn't have been better. He patiently listened to us and addressed all our questions, recommended a system that was perfect for our needs (i.e., neither too little security nor needless overbuilding) and worked within our budget to make the whole thing affordable. After that, everything went smoothly. He set up convenient installation dates, and was there for us to answer any questions we had that cropped up along the way. As for the installation itself, same reaction; great job. Vince was our "go-to" guy over the two-day process. He was knowledgeable, neat, upbeat and on time--what could be better than that? He was also very creative, recommending a few tweaks to the initial plan, once he was (literally!) neck deep in the work. Just like any service business, there are plenty of other companies that do alarm work. But if you're looking to be able to sleep well at night, knowing that you and your family have the security system they need, look no further than ACS. read more

I would give this company a minus 1 star if I could. The most unprofessional company that I have ever, I mean ever dealt with. We previously had service with ADT but when our HOA went with ACS security, we changed as well. Mistake! #1 We requested a very minor repair. They gave us an appointment for 3 weeks from my phone call. This meant that our alarm was useless until then. #2 We moved out of the area after having the service for 5 months. We did not wish to continue with them due to their inferior service. I was told that I needed to write an actual letter of cancellation (no emails?) and within 1 month the remainder of our payment would be refunded. But noooooo. When I contacted them repeatedly, they claimed that we owed them for equipment. OUR alarm system was already up and running for 13 years. We did NOT purchase any equipment from them. I love using the doorbell camera. I can see every time someone comes to the door or leaves packages. Just the other day UPS left a package that had a very expensive item inside and I called ACS and had their patrol come out to bring them around back so they didn't get stolen. Got home and it was safely sitting on our table in the backyard. Awesome. read more

i called ACS to activate an alarm system for a friend of mine and asked if it was possible to come the same day as another local company was supposed to do it but we caught them trying to rip them off etc. THEY WHERE AMAZING!! they went out of there way to come the SAME DAY!! as my friend was leaving town and wanted it done before. they sent a technician within 45 minutes and he was not able reprogram the unit.. so the technician calls hi friend at ACS to PLEASE come over to help my friend out and even offers to buy lunch for the other technician if he would come quickly. now thats called dedicated service. at the end an amazing tech named kurt came and there are no words to say how great he was. he really new his stuff! there was a part that broke and ACS did not have it and he went to his own home to get it from a part he personally owned. it sounds too good to be true but i witnessed it happen. thanks to all the nice people at ACS especially Mr Chriss and the Big Boss Mr George which went way beyond to accomodate my friend!! i strongly recommend them!! levi read more

My homeowners association recently switched from ADT to ACS, & I elected to also switch the monitoring service for my home security system. George came to our home the same day we called to make the changeover. He was extremely courteous and professional, and provided us with 2 new wireless devices linked to our security system, a heat detector for our kitchen and a smoke detector for our upstairs bedrooms. He arranged for an installer to come out to make the hardware monitoring changes. The installer was on time and did the work flawlessly, including final testing of all the devices connected to the system. I think we are off to a great start with ACS & would highly recommend them based on my recent excellent experience. read more
