About a year ago, I had a new heater installed along with new ductwork. Everything seemed fine until recently, when water got into the heater and damaged a controller part. That issue wasn't the company's fault. However, while the technician was here testing the heater, the power suddenly went out. We initially thought it was a breaker issue, but it wasn't. Even after checking and replacing breakers, the power still wouldn't come back on. Then, while we were standing at the heater, the power suddenly returned. Neither of us could figure out what was happening. After the technician finished and left, I had to call an electrician to investigate the wall outlets. The electrician found a loose wire inside a wire nut and replaced it. He told me the wire looked like it had been pulled or stepped on, which caused it to come loose. I haven't been in the attic in over a year, the only people up there were Action Air's technicians when they removed the old ductwork and installed the new ductwork. I reported this to Action Air and sent them photos of the wiring issue along with the invoice for the repair. Their response was: "Good morning Rick, Our management team has reviewed the photo and your invoice and have confirmed we will not be reimbursing you." The electrician's repair cost was $200. Instead of doing the right thing and working with me on a reasonable solution, this is how they chose to treat a customer. Their technicians were the only ones in the attic, and it's clear they inadvertently stepped on or pulled the wiring loose, an issue that could have caused a fire in my home. I guess a bad review is worth $200 to them. This is why I will never recommend or use Action Air again. read more

I have spent enough money with this company for a little down payment on a house . And this guy Johnny was supposed to come out and he told me all the different things I could do and I just need my hot and cold water faucets to work on my bathtub and this is a bigger nightmare then me not having air conditioning working or a heater . I live in a small home with a one bathroom and nobody is helping me and I'm moving on . I spent more than 20 grand yes and they're not calling me back to come fix this problem and if they don't want to fix it don't I'm done . They did really well in all the other fixtures but nobody's calling me back to fix this after they told me what needs to be done and it sucks thank you best of luck. Action installed my system about 10 years ago and I've been a happy customer since. Something seems to have changed this year and I can no longer recommend them. I've had 5 service calls in the last 6 weeks to try and fix my system. The first visit cost $275 and the fix lasted 10 minutes and then the system was worse then before. Instead of doing service recovery and sending someone out quickly to make a fix i had to wait over a week. I also made at least 5 requests for a manager to call me and was ignored. The second visit they found the fuse the first guy had blown and installed another new part ($800) that was needed. Part wasn't setup correctly so another week another call. Third call they fixed the install from the second call. Had a new problem in a week or so later and on the fourth call the problem was misdiagnosed and I was sold a $354 part. Same problem continued and on the fifth visit the tech found and, hopefully, fixed the real problem. Again asked to have a manage get in touch but crickets. Customer service is totally lacking plus I feel I am due some consideration for the fixes that didn't work. read more

Action Air Conditioning, Heating and Solar I paid $1,577.00 through my contractor to have Action AC move my furnace. They were to simply move it straight up about 8 feet from my garage to my attic. Unfortunately since the move the furnace blows warm air for only a few minutes and then it fails. Also since the furnace was moved, my heat vents have been spewing a lot of dust and bits of insulation into our home. I called Action's service department and asked them to send someone out to fix the furnace. Their response, after two service technicians spent almost 3 hours in my attic, was that they want more than $700.00 in addition to what I have already paid them to fix the furnace. They don't feel that the move caused the problem. The furnace worked fine before the move, and it doesn't work after the move. How can it not be their responsibility to fix it? I also complained about the dust and insulation coming out the vents. There was none before the move, but in the process of moving the furnace they must have allowed dirt and insulation to enter the duct work. They say this isn't their problem either, and if I recall correctly the technician told me that duct cleaning for my 9 ducts would cost more than $400.00. Together that totals over $1,100.00 in addition to what I have already paid to get my furnace working the way it was before they moved it. Worse than that, they told me they really need to replace all the ducts with new ones to solve the dirt problem. That would cost me $2,242.00 more. I feel very ripped off and it seems to be getting worse. I called and asked to speak to the owner of the company, Brian Amodio, because I wanted to try to work things out. It has been a week and so far he has chosen not to call me back. So I called again and asked for Mr. Amodio's email to try again to explain my dissatisfaction. It has been several more days and I have received no response again. Don't believe their website where they say: "100% Satisfaction Guarantee" and "Upfront Prices, No Hidden Costs" because this is not what I have experienced. We had Action Air (through Costco) install a new Lennox A/C and Heating system, along with replacing all the ducts, returns and vents. We were extremely pleased with the fact that Bob our salesman informed us that yes we could convert to just one A/C unit versus the two A/C units that had come originally with the house (versus other companies we consulted with that wanted to up sell the project). The installers (Brandon, Kevin and Cory) were wonderful to work with. They were very professional, respectful and personable. They ensured that we understood the new zoning system and controls and were comfortable operating it before they finished the project. We couldn't be more pleased with our new HVAC, and highly recommend Action Air to anyone seeking a new HVAC system. I would not recommend this company, I regret that I selected for my heat pump installation project. I dread the fact that they will be my warranty company for a while. The sales team made a mistake on the write up of the project causing a delay for completion. The install should have been completed in two days, but the project stretched on for a couple of weeks due to installer issues, supposedly bad equipment from the factory, very poor communication between techs and project manager. The sales handoff issue was the fact that the sales person did not include appropriate ducting supplies. The installers showed up the first day, worked a half day because duct supplies were not on site. A well trained/experienced/well managed team would have called the warehouse to deliver the supplies- did not happen, thus the half day of work. This is just a sampling of the issues. Stay away from this company, the worst project in my lifetime of home ownership(25 years)!!! read more

I am very happy with my new Lennox air conditioning and heating system installed by Action! My outdoor condenser unit has been dead for nearly three years, and the whole system was over 25 years old, the ducting was disintegrated, I knew it was all due for replacement. I requested a quote for a new HVAC system through Costco. Action contacted me promptly after I called Costco. They made an appointment that matched my schedule to quote the project. The salesman arrived on time and was wearing a mask. He questioned me on what I thought I wanted and inspected all my systems. He made recommendations for a complete new system which I suspected I needed. Fortunately Action is qualified for PACE, and was able to offer full financing on my property taxes, that I could escrow. I accepted the offer as it was a good deal. So, condenser (the outdoor AC part), fan, heater, MIRV filter, all new ducting, touchscreen thermostat control with iPhone app WiFi access, registers, and balancing, cut in a new register to replace one that we had always felt was misplaced in the kitchen. They scheduled the installation, again at my convenience, for a two day installation. The technicians arrived in masks, laid down tarps, and worked diligently to get the job done in two days (on my 1500 sq.ft. house). The system is much quieter than my old system, inside and out. The thermostat is a modern touchscreen that is highly programmable and controllable with your phone via an app. I have basic settings working, but I will have to play around and read the manual to get everything set. As I haven't had AC for nearly three years, I don't have a recent energy bill to compare to, I know my bill will go up, no matter what. Mark me cool and comfortable! read more

I had a bad experience with Action Air. I had purchased a new ac unit from them that stopped working 2 months after the three year warranty expired. When their tech showed up he charged me $250 for a 10 minute inspection to find that heating coil was leaking. They quoted me $1200 for the repair, way more than what I was quoted after calling aroundfew other vendors. The next vendor who replaced the coil charged hundreds of dollars less. They also said that the part that failed was a cheap off market replacement just to save a few bucks for Action Air. This is not a place to drop thousands for such a big purchase. read more

I purchased a solar electric system 4 years ago from Action with the promise that they would monitor the system from their location for the life of the system. They set up a local monitoring system as well. Upon discovering that I cannot actually monitor on site, I called Action who sent a repair person over. He could not fix the issue as he did not have the correct repair part on his truck. He advised me to upgrade my router to an $800 router (that they stock and sell). When asked why I could not use the original hardware that they installed, he had nom plausible answer. When asked about their monitoring of my system, I was told that they have not been monitoring my system for the past 3 years. I was then charged $150.00 for a service call that did not fix the problem with their original installation. read more

An Action Air rep came out to our house and we were given all the options for repair or replacement, very fair and balanced. We decided to replace, and just had the new unit installed today. Very professional re-installation with both the new air conditioner and the all the associated electronics for "zones" in our house so we only cool the areas we are in. Scheduled an appointment for furnace tuneup today and they gave time 1-4pm. 3:25pm no call so I called and customer service said the technician is on the way. 3:59pm no call, no technician so I called and the customer service now said the technician is running behind at the other job and asked if I can wait for additional 30 minutes to one hour. Unprofessional and unreliable on the customer service and the technician. They could of call me and let me know they are running behind the schedule and give me a new estimate time. My entire experience with this company has been phenomenal. They kept me informed and saved me the cost of an extra visit by them by having me answer questions/gather information on the phone. My problem was water leaking on the roof whenever the a/c turned on. The tech, Jose, knew what the cause of the issue soon as I described it, went exactly to where the problem was located and fixed it in about 30 minutes. He explained everything clearly and well, and he gave me suggestions for how to avoid any similar problems in the future. Jose was friendly and took the time to clean up everything when he was done so it was cleaner than before. I feel so scammed right now by this company...We were sold that our project was on a zero interest loan and our payments would pay off the system without paying interest. Instead...is was an 18 month loan and all the interest deferred was then just added to the total since we were not told that we had to pay the full amount by the 18 month mark, making this whole project, $4K more than what we agreed upon. Thankfully, I noticed sooner rather than later. But this is SO unacceptable in how this company presented this to us. It now would have been a cheaper option to use another vender/dealer because of how we were sold us on this loan. We were completely screwed. My thermostat was acting up and even with calling the manufacturer, I couldn't figure out the issue. Action Air installed my A/C and furnace previously, so I called them for help. The technician was very helpful, wore a mask in my home and asked if I wanted him to wear booties over his shoes. He was able to determine that my thermostat screen was overheating, causing a faulty temperature reading. He suggested some replacement options in brands that he said he didn't get a lot of calls on, so they should be reliable. I have only ever had good service from Action Air. read more

However, consumer reports also helped. They rated the equipment Action Air proposed to install as one of the top brands for AC units. The thirds priority was the price; even without the savings via the 'Costco-bucks', their price was competitive with other bids offering lower quality equipment. However, I'm writing this 'YELP-out' because of the installation team. Professional, thorough, cleanly and informed, David and Jimmie were timely, quiet and friendly, you want this team to work in your home if you want the job done correctly; I say this because I observed their installation and asked questions as they worked; I can be a real pain, but they kept a good attitude and were always knowledgeable and friendly. read more

We contracted with Action through Costco for installation of a new 5-ton Lennox AC system. We wanted to get it in before the really hot weather struck and they obliged by completing install between July 2-4. Their work was of high quality, and quickly performed. They also replaced all of our old leaky ducts in the attic with new tight ducting. The service techs, Reuben and his associate, were courteous, neat, conscientious, with excellent to work with. They arrived punctually everyday as promised and left our home clean. At first we had favored another contractor with a Trane system at a slightly lower price and good reliability reputation but were attracted by trust in Costco's seal of approval. Action agreed to match the Trane contractor's price and provide the same 10-year warranty on the equipment and we were off to the races. The job was completed beautifully and we are now awash in cool dry air throughout the house even as the outside thermometer reads 98F! This has been one of those rare circumstances where the contractor delivers everything as promised and we have zero complaints! I would whole-heartedly recommend them to family and friends. I cannot say enough good things about Action Air. They installed/replaced a complete HVAC system in my condo in 2014. A short time after, the AC was no longer cooling. Without any hesitation or argument, they came out, fixed a leak under warranty and the AC has been perfect ever since. Fast forward to November 2021 (and renter with three cats), I called for maintenance on the HVAC furnace and condenser units. Prior to my technician showing up, I received a message telling me he was on his way, his name, his education, and a little bit about him personally. Deivy was on time, extremely polite, and capable. He worked steady and consistent for hours to clean up quite a mess. He didn't try to up sell me on anything, but he did make two recommendations, one necessary, the other optional, both with complete/ brief, explanation. I was so impressed with his patient demeanor, steady work, and his politeness. Deivy took before and after pictures and emailed them to me with my invoice. So great to have a record of the maintenance, and nice to see him take pride in his impeccable work. A few days later, I had arranged for the air ducts and dryer vent to be cleaned as well. Again, prior to my technician showing up, I received a text message telling me he was on his way, his name, and a little bio about his education, etc. Gage and Cody showed up to clean the air ducts with a smile. Delightful young men! I left them to do their work while I ran some errands, when I returned they were literally cleaning my vents at their truck with solution and toothbrushes. Talk about complete and detailed service! And they were still smiling. Cody had to get up on my roof to release lint from the dryer vent, it was that much of a mess. They even handled another vendor I had coming for an estimate, that I had totally forgotten about! They charged me EXACTLY what they quoted over the phone. After seeing the pictures, I'm positive they saved me from a dryer fire. I cannot say enough good things about this company. STELLAR COMPANY! I live in El Cajon Valley and in the summer it's hot, hot, hot! I made the decision to get AC. I didn't want to go with the traditional AC system because I didn't want to lose the esthetics in my house by lowering the ceilings to allow for ductwork. I researched and found the Ductless Mini Split system. Arranged to have this company to perform the SDG&E Quality Maintenance program and they never called back after requesting to verify my SDG&E account to schedule an appointment. I called Action Air back after two weeks and set an appointment. Company calls the day of service to tell me at 2:00PM that the technician can't come out due to an earlier job issue after confirming the day prior. Scheduled service time was between 12-3:00. I sure wish I could get back my vacation time that I used. Thanks for nothing Action Air. read more

I contacted them to get a quote and was impressed with their immediate response. Matt, our sales associate was extremely helpful and answered all of our questions.
