When a giant rock smashed my windshield, my primary concern was how ridiculous the process of getting it fixed would likely be. Well, I'm glad I did my research and found Action Auto Glass because Jimmy and the team were absolutely incredible. I am honestly blown away by how seamless the process was -- and it was done so by smart design. I called, they took my VIN, let me know they already had the windshield in stock, scheduled me a time for a day or two later.... And then they picked up my car at my apt and dropped it off 4 hours later, all ready to go. I barely had to do anything. They were even in network as a preferred repair shop with my insurance (progressive) so I just paid my deductible and got out of there relatively unscathed, considering they also did the recalibration for my front camera! I've had the best service at this location. I was recently on a work trip and unfortunately, I got my car broken into. They broke the passenger side window, within 30 minutes of that happening I got to action auto glass and within the hour they had my window completely replaced. I'm shocked that people had good experiences here. I had nothing but headaches trying to get these folks to replace a window. They clearly don't have the staffing or resources to handle new customers. Left three voicemails over six days asking for an estimate to replace a smashed window, no one ever returned any of my calls. Finally managed to get someone on the phone at 8:01am and was brushed off that they didn't have that particular window in stock. No offer to order one, no attempt to help, just flat brushed off. I contacted the dealership to order the part and then contacted action auto glass again to do the installation because they are who the dealership recommended for installation (no idea why, I'll be following up on that) Let me repeat: I procured the window glass, and it was still like pulling teeth to sweet talk this place into doing me the favor of installing it. They couldn't "fit me in." I kept calling and managed to "score" an appointment. Took more phone calls to get a cost estimate, because apparently that's not something they usually provide up front? I just wanted to know if it would be more or less than my insurance deductible. I can't speak to the quality of the workmanship because the complete lack of responsiveness and horrible customer service made it impossible to do business. Maybe I just caught them on a bad month...I know I'm not the only Portlander with a smashed window....but every attempt at communication was a miserable excercise in futility. read more

went for a broken in window, left with a door handle no longer working and if the window is rolled down all the way it doesn't roll back up. we appreciated them getting us in right away and customer service was pleasant but really disappointed and frustrated by the outcome. they definitely knew the door handle didn't work when they gave us the key because they had reparked it and wouldn't have been able to get out. lesson learned: be sure you check out everything before you leave the lot read more

My windshield was replaced and I am completely satisfied with the end results. However, and the reason for 3 stars, whoever worked on my vehicle spilled a liquid from the dash into my radio/gps unit, shorting it out and rendering it unrepairable. I can't prove it, as I didn't take pictures of the dash before taking it in (note to self). But, there are "legs" of dried liquid rivulets from the dash to the radio unit. And I NEVER place liquids on my dash. So add $500 radio to the windshield replacement cost and you can understand why I am not completely satisfied. Vehicle comes in; radio works. Vehicle comes out; no radio. Coincidence? You do the math. read more

Can't thank Jimmie and Nick enough for taking care of my Porsche (2022 Cayenne S Platinum Edition) after having my window smashed in downtown Portland. Window was smashed while parked in a parking garage over Memorial Weekend while on a road trip from Los Angeles, CA to Whistler, Canada. Called Porsche Beaverton to see if they could replace the window and was referred to Action Auto as their recommended vendor. Called Action and spoke with Jimmie who ordered the OEM window from Porsche and had Nick from his team swing by on a Saturday morning to ensure I was back on the road. Wife's Toyota Highlander driver's side window got stuck half way down on a rainy miserable day in Portland. Called different auto glass places and no one answered their phones. Finally called Jimmie at Action Auto Glass and was told that he was busy today but he was willing to take a look at the problem in 45 min when he had a little free time. When we got to the shop, Jimmie took the car back right when we got there and after 15 min or so came back, gave us the keys, explained to us what happened, and sent us on our way with the problem fixed. The window is moving up and down better than ever, his service was fast, professional, people oriented and complimentary since the plastic screws that hold the x-arm mechanic just felt off and Jimmie just needed to put them back in place and sealed them tight with some Loctite. Kind, professional and thoughtful. Jimmy and Matt provided top tier service going well above and beyond my expectations. The windshield on our 2018 Outback had cracked. First, the car has an aftermarket lift and a sophisticated camera system. Many vendors offered the glass replacement, but could not recalibrate the camera system. Action Auto Glass performed both the replacement and recalibration quickly with professional results. Second, on the morning I was supposed to drop off the car for service my wife was out of town and our son woke up sick unable to go to school. When I called to reschedule, they did not hesitate in offering to come pick up the car and drop it off later that day. What a huge help! We had our window shattered during a break in on a rainy Tuesday. Our window replacement was completed by Friday. Jimmy and his team did an awesome job replacing my broken windshield. The not only took care of the recalibration of the Eye Sight cameras that is required by Subaru after windshield replacement, but they also worked with my insurance company so that all I had to pay was my deductible when it was done. Do not go here. Terrible customer service. I waited for 2 hrs for these ppl to arrive at my house as set up by my insurance. Changed my whole day to accommodate their arrival and have a garage available. 10 till 10 i call them and then thru suddenly tell me my out of pocket is almost 400 bucks for a tiny flat jeep wrangler windshield....and I'm asking why it's so much knowing i could get it elsewhere cheaper than that vs putting a claim out. After calling Safelite Auto Glass and getting a ridiculous quote I was searching and found Action Auto Glass and I'm glad I did. I called and spoke with Jimmy and he gave me a quote to fix the rock chip in my windshield and it was a great reasonable price. He said I didn't need an appointment just to call one hour before I wanted to come in. I went in this morning and he fixed the rock chip quickly and I am more than pleased with the repair. This is the second time I have used Action Auto Glass in the Portland area (503-230-1600). My first experience with them two years ago was outstanding I used them again to replace the windshield on my Chevrolet C7 Corvette. We Corvette people are well known for being very picky when it comes to having our cars worked on. So it speaks volumes about the faith I have in Jimmy (Store Manager) and David (installer) at Action Auto Glass to get the job done right. Replacing a windshield on this particular Corvette is not easy, there are a lot of parts, panels and a bunch of electrical components that must be removed in order to remove the windshield, it's like performing surgery. David is a true craftsman and took great care when taking the many pieces off and disconnecting all the electronics. His precision applying the urethane windshield adhesive and laying the new contoured windshield in place is truly amazing to watch. Pure perfection. The job did not end there David carefully and efficiently reattached all electronic components, panels, hardware, etc. without even the slightest problem or damage. If you need to get your glass replaced or repaired give Jimmy at Action Auto Glass a call. You will not regret it. read more

I sat here for 2-plus hours as there were no real nearby places to walk to and I didn't not have a ride that day. I suppose I could have taken an Uber/Lyft to go somewhere but I wasn't really in the mood to spend more money after finding out the total bill that I had to spend to get a OEM windshield for my car. Nonetheless, the job was done properly and the new windshield looks nice. My main concern was that the associated electronics would be affected during the replacement. They seem fine. I brought Volvo XC70 with a smashed moonroof to get fixed. It ended up needed a complete rebuild as the motor which pulls the glass back had also failed. After three weeks (pre COVID) they got it back to me. The roof was never flush, and after a month of it making a loud noise whenever I tried to open it, the function failed all together. They were clearly not equipped to handle the rebuild and I wish they had referred me to a more capable shop when this problem came up. When I asked them to fix it, they first ignored my calls for a month then said they could take it appart and put it back together but that they would only do it for free if they found an obvious error on their part in the process. Keep in mind when I got the vehicle back from them it was hardly functional. I spent $1400 on factory new parts so it could not have been a bad used part. In the end I left it because I did not want to risk spending more to have a functional window. Overall very frustrating experience. Seems like this place had mostly good reviews so my experience may be an anomaly but I will not be returning. read more

Each time I called, I spoke with either Jimmy or someone else and was told that they would call back that day or within several hours but never did. I had to initiate the call. I had a back windshield wire in my 2013 Mustang that had been broken for sometime back defrost wasn't working. I was worried about the cost called this business made an appointment on Nov. 18. When Bill answered I mentioned my dilemma he put me on a brief hold came back on line he stated (bring er on in). When I arrived they were very busy. Jimmy at front desk very friendly stated he'd call me in about an hour. Referred me to the coffee shop (Cellar Door Coffee Roasters yummy coffee and pumpkin bread)just up the street where I could wait. In a little less than an hour I received the call to pick er up all done. They had performed an amazing job with little cost. I was so delighted and happy they had taken such good care of my mustang Sally! Other business I had called prior(Speedy Auto) the receptionist had stated "they don't fix those type of problems I'd have to have window replaced. I went to Action Auto Glass about a month ago to get the windshield on my 2001 Toyota Solara replaced. Jimmy and the team were very kind, efficient, affordable, and the quality was top notch. The old windshield (aside from being cracked across in multiple places) also had some peeling chrome trim that was replaced by a new rubber gasket that looks fantastic and will hold up much longer. It's like turning the clock back on my car's age by 15 years! Only took about an hour and the price was right. I'll definitely be back (hopefully not too soon though)! read more
