I brought my car in with a bunch of smallish scratches and a big honkin' one on the side. A friend had brought my car to another shop in the area which had quoted $3200. These guys told me they could do the full workup , replace the panels, etc, for $800 less than the other guys -- or they could clean it up for free (!!!) in 15 minutes and get 95% of the way there. This place is AWESOME! I only went there because I was referred by my insurance company, Progressive. I had a small ding on my car where some dummy in a parking lot slammed her truck door into the side of my Honda CRV. This is one of Progressive's dedicated "partner" body shops so this is where they sent me for my estimate but said that I did not have to get my car fixed there. I figured, the car was already there so I might as well just leave it. I could not be happier with the results. Not only did their dent guy get out the dent that I came in for, he took out another dent on the other side of my car as well (with no charge to me). Ok, so i haven't wrote a review in almost 6 months on Yelp, but Shawn's service totally floored my husband and I. My husband just shipped his car from Atlanta and there were scratches all over it - we wanted to get a quote of how much it would cost to fix the car and Shawn explained every single area of the car scratch by scratch!!! It was amazing! He told us which scratches needed to be repaired, which ones were superficial and then he said he was going to check out the scratches more in the back. I was a bit weary - where could he have gone? What did he do? To our amazement, Shawn, actually buffed out a scratch that my husband got from a car door banging into his car. We were ecstatic! I had to bring my car in for some damage to the side mirror, thanks to a wayward deer late on a Saturday night (it was my car, but I was not driving, which made me dread the visit even more). Great repair job, excellent customer service! My hubby and I brought our car to Active Auto Body after a fender bender. We spoke with Shawn, the owner/manager, who immediately put us at ease and explained as much as he could about the process and timeline needed for repairs. He was very upfront about his repair estimate, as well as other possible repairs that might be needed after he and the insurance adjuster looked at the damage more closely (the insurance adjuster was not yet around when we brought the car to the shop). The repairs were done more quickly than we expected, and the quality of the work was very good. Shawn even went above and beyond our expectations, for which we are very grateful. A car accident, even if it is "just" a fender-bender, is a stressful event. Shawn and Active Auto Body made it a little less painful for us, and even gave us something to smile about. I was referred to Active after I got rear-ended while stopped at a red light. Right from the get-go they were super friendly and helpful. I've been coming to Active Auto Body for years and I intend to keep coming for many more. In this time I've brought countless corporate cars from my fleet here, my parents cars, and several of my own cars; each one gets the same level of superb treatment. Unfortunately, the dealer he bought it from didn't put a good primer on it and one day while washing the car huge chunks of paint came off. After Shawn and Active Auto Body took care of it the car looked better than the day he bought it! They even repaired the sagging bumper (over the years the line between the fender and bumper had gotten big. They fixed the gap and it looked like it was brand new). Lastly, they polished out the hazy / foggy headlights and made them look new, my father and I were blown away. About a year ago I got a dent in my rear bumper. I came here to get it pulled. Eduardo pulled it out for me and polished it - free of charge. I promised that I would bring back my business. Recently, my mom backed into my car, severely damaging my left panel and my left tail light. I took it in and Eduardo promised me he would do his best. He told me that my mom's insurance company would probably try to swindle them and force them to buy an aftermarket tail light as opposed to a higher quality OEM tail light. (lower cost) He told me he would do his best getting me a good tail light. A week later I get the call to come back in. The left panel was completely immaculate and Eduardo got me a new OEM tail light. I was extremely satisfied. Eduardo also polished my front lights as they were beginning to get cloudy due to aging. He also pulled out a few dings on the front side. Both of these fixes done on the house. During the repainting, my left side mirror was accidently covered in paint. Eduardo went and got me a new mirror free of charge (as it was their mistake). The nicest and most helpful Body Shop we have ever encountered so far. I hit a crate on Hwy 280 that dislodged and scraped the bumper in my brand new Toyota Highlander. My husband took it in and waited (while cringing inwardly) for an estimate. The guy from Active Auto Body came out - took one look at the bumper and reattached it perfectly and sent my husband on his way. All in 5 minutes. No charge. What the what ?? Finally my search of an auto body short is over... I am very particular about cars. I don't have $$$ to own exotic cars but I have owned some interesting cars like a '67 Mini Cooper and now a E46 M3 and a Caterham Seven. Back to my story which has two parts. The first part is that I took some carbon fiber panels for my Caterham (which were previous screwed up by another body shop) to Active Auto. Shawn was able to point out immediately what was done wrong. He even charged me cheaper than the previous place which has no idea on how to work on carbon fiber. My impression about the shop: Sparkling clean and well organized. The second part is that I picked up the parts on the date as promised. It looks great. The red is so rich and vibrant. This is what the factory paint should be and now I have to worry about the painted parts look better than the rest of my Seven. Unfortunately when I put the car together I accidentally left a few fine scratches on a new panel. Calling Shawn for help and he said "bring it over and I will fix that for you". So I did. He had those scratches carefully polished out and it is beautiful again. He offered to do that for free even though it is totally my fault. If there is six stars that I can rate Active Auto, I would. While I was waiting I looked at other cars in his shop. There were a few hot rods like a '60 Camero which is very nicely done. There is another hot rod in primer and the panel gap is perfect. The lesson is that Active Auto treats every customer with respect and does excellent work. This is the place I will definitely recommend whole heartedly. read more

These guys were great! Very straight forward experience getting a car repaired using other parties insurance. Even picked up my rental car from them right after I dropped my car off. Service time was accurately quoted and I got a call to inform me that all parts were in and service was going to begin and then another call a few days later when all repairs were done. I have taken 3 cars to Shawn to have work done. I was rear ended in my Toyota 4Runner and took it to another body shop to have the work done. After that I took it to Yarnell (another great place) to have the engine and everything looked over. The owner of Yarnell had Shawn take a look at it too. When I came in to pick up my 4Runner I went next door and talked to Shawn about some of the things that the other body shop missed. He was straight forward and didn't bad talk the other body shop. This was very helpful and I really liked Shawn's attitude and attention to detail. The next car I took here was my Acura TL, shortly after I bought it brand new. I messed up the front bumper and remembered Shawn's attention to detail an felt like he would be able to make it look like new again. Again Shawn was very helpful and did a great job. The third car I took here was my girlfriend's Toyota Rav4. We were hit by a drunk driver and really messed up the front end. We had the car towed, it was not drivable and Shawn handled getting it from the tow yard and took care of everything. The front desk staff, owner, and repair techs were all completely professional, and worked seamlessly with the insurance company and rental car company to see that we were taken care of. They worked quickly to repair our car in time to take on a road trip we had planned to avoid us needing to rent a car for the trip. The service technician walked us through the repair, showed us the replaced parts, and I was amazed. The paint matching was superb, the windows that had been removed and replaced were so nicely replaced you'd never know they'd been removed. They even vacuumed the interior of the car for us. What can I say about getting free service here??? I called this place purely on the awesome reviews on yelp and once again yelp did not let me down. I needed a side view mirror installed in my car. I thought it would be fairly easy and thought I could do it myself but I had to get behind the door panel and did not want to just rip it off myself for fear of not being able to put it back together. Anyway, I called this place wondering how much and when they could help me. They said they could probably help me whenever I dropped by and that it would probably be FREE! So I was like okay this sounds too good to be true. But it wasn't!!! They stuck to their word and helped me right away and installed the side view mirror in like 15 minutes while I waited during my lunch break. I had heard that Active did good maticulous work so I took my 1931 Buick there for a paint job during restoration. There are only 22 of this particular model known to exist in the world so I wanted it done correctly. I had it painted black which shows imperfections more than any other color. The paint job far exceed my expectations. There in not a trace of orange peel or imperfection. One thing that amazes me is that the paint Sean used seems impervious to rock dings. I drove it to 'victoria Canada right after he painted it and noticed when I got home that there weren't any paint chips in the fenders. I've had other old cars with fenders like the ones on the Buick that looked like they were sand blasted after a trip like that. Anyway, if you are looking for a body shop that does top notch work, is easy to work with, and totally trustworthy, I wholeheartedly recommend Active Autobody in Sunnyvale. read more

Seriously, if I could give this place 10 stars... I would. Just yesterday, my mom drove my car to my local Ranch 99, and as luck would have it... someone hit-and-run my car in the parking lot, leaving a ginormous dent in my back bumper. Other auto body shops quoted my bumper as $200 so I was really stressing out because who wants to pay 200-300 dollars for something you didn't cause? Anyways, my uncle, who is also a mechanic, recommended that I visit this body shop and I am SO glad I did. I entered the shop just asking if I could get an estimate for my back bumper, and Shawn looked at my car and asked... do you want this popped out? I looked at him in surprise and I asked him, "Now?" He replied yes and asked us to wait inside and he'd be done really soon. Just 10-15 minutes later he came back inside and said my car was ready. The job he did looked really well done... basically as good as new (which is saying a lot because of what it looked like before). Then my mom says, "OK, I'll just go inside to pay", but he replied, "Don't worry about it." .... My jaw is basically on the ground right now, and I finally managed to thank him. This is basically unheard of with auto body shops, where they usually like to charge you any chance they get. Shawn popped out my bumper for no charge. A-m-a-z-i-n-g... I actually almost feel bad that I didn't hide some money on the front desk because Shawn actually didn't want my money. I can't imagine going to any other auto body shop now because of the fact that they are SUPER professional and are also very very good. Also, when you walk in their shop, they have a bunch of awards hanging on their wall and they are also accredited by the Better Business Bureau, which means you won't have to worry about them short-changing you. The driver-side rear panel and bumper where pretty badly smashed in on my 2004 Acura TL while it was parked in a strip mall. I was totally bummed not just because the car was damaged, but more because of the time and effort that I had to put into finding the right body shop and the hassle of dealing with the insurance company. Active auto body was amazing. The car looks better than new. The work is absolutely immaculate, and I didn't have to do a thing!! Active is a preferred body shop with my insurance company. All I had to do is to drop off the car, and Active did the rest. They dealt with the insurance company and had the car looking better than new in a couple of days. The management and staff are absolutely professional and most courteous. They walked me through the work that will be performed, and give detailed explanation of every little detail. Three days later, I picked up the car in immaculate condition. Given my experience, I recommended Active to another friend who banged his Honda Odyssey, and he also is extremely pleased. I discovered Active Auto Body first via Consumers Checkbook where they receieved its highest rating. I then researched them here on Yelp, and then I called the place where I have my car serviced and asked where I should go and they recommended Active Auto Body without any prompting from me. So, I knew this was the place to go! I won't go into detail on how this happened because my review would be too long, but I had a minor problem with my driver's side door alignment. When you closed the car door, it didn't line up evenly with the latch. So, I called Active Auto Body and they said I didn't need an appointment for the estimate, that I could come in at my convenience....which I did. Eduardo greeted me in the parking lot right away and immediately took the car to the shop to assess the problem. Then he came into the reception/waiting area and said that he could fix it in 10 minutes and that the service would be free of charge. I think he fixed it in 5 minutes, he did a perfect job, and I was in and out of there that fast! I couldn't have been there for longer than 15 minutes in total. I bought my first new car in 30 years, and a kid on a bike hit it while it was parked in front of my house, and it got hit with an egg(who knew that one egg could wreck the paint so badly.
