I accidentally backed out of my garage while the back passenger side door was still opened. The door hit the side of the garage, sustain some cosmetic dents but became misaligned and did not close properly. My niece who is a auto mechanic told me to try Active Auto Body. When I went there, the receptionist called an estimator to look at the car. Without even a quote, he said "can fix it, just give me the keys." In five minutes, he brought the car back with the door in alignment and said "no charge." So I hope that I will never need body work done but if I do, it will be here. read more

This shop was close to work and had good Yelp reviews, so I went to get an estimate for the rear side of my car that had scraped against another cars bumper. It turned out that the work needed was quite involved and needed multiple sections of the car's body to be worked on to have the paints match. I have a high deductible and the ding was minor so decided not to get the work done. But Pedro took the car and had the section buffed, removing most of the paint from the other car's bumper. Came here to get my car's bumper fixed, and they were super efficient in providing me with an estimate, communicating with the insurance company & car rental company, and of course, fixing up my car! My Honda was hit by a person who carried Progressive Auto Insurance. Active Auto Body was among a few shops approved by Progressive to perform repairs. There was a shop technically closer to my house - but did not have as good of a ratings as Active, so I took my car to Active - and boy, I'm I glad I did. Upon arrival at Active I was professionally greeted by the estimator, we wen't over all the damage. Active also coorindated with the Rental car company to pick me up. Everything was a perfect execution. All of the people are very nice. The place is clean. The environment at Active feels like a genuine and professional body shop and not some "wanna-be" body shop. Lisa, who manages the front office is very polite and kept me up-to-date with the repair status of my car. I had some issues with the Progressive estimator - but that's an entirely different issue and has nothing to do with Active. In fact, Shawn (the owner of Active) took it upon himself to correct oversites by the Progerssive estimator) - very top notch in my book. When I finally picked up my car (about 1 week later), one of headlights was slighty sticking out. Most people would not have seen this, but I'm a stickler for straight lines. Without hestitation Shawn had one of the bodyshop guys re-adjust the headlight on the spot. 10 minutes later - it was perfect. I liked them so much - I paid out of pocket to replace the other headlight (as so it would match with the new one that was replaced due to the accident I incurred). Which, after they ordered and received it, took only 15 minutes to put in. Active also detailed my engine compartment which was filthy. Oddly enough, I had my 150K major service performed by Honda just a few weeks earlier. Honda didn't clean my engine compartment - dissappointing after the chunk of money I gave them to service my car. A +++ to Active for going above and beyond. I will be using Active Auto Body for any of my future auto body needs. The whole shop is a class act. The owners (Shawn and his wife Lisa) are great folks and run a professional shop. Where to begin. I was were recently in need of some bodywork.. lots of bodywork, for my brand new car that was rear-ended & spun. They not only did an amazing job, they kept me in the loop every step of the way from having my car towed from the Bodega Bay area to their shop. I have been to Active Auto Body 3 times and all were great experiences. The first time was when I was in an accident a few years ago and I was recommended to come here. The process was smooth, quick, and they did a wonderful job. The second time I came was to get a quote on a little dent and they were able to give me an estimate right away. As it was a minor cosmetic issue, it wasn't worth it for me to get it fixed, but their customer service is always great. I went there third time last month when someone tried to yank my side mirror and it was tilted slightly downwards. Active Auto Body today solved two of our cars' problems which have been bothered us for quite some time. My son's car's fender liners need to be replaced, so I ordered the parts from Amazon, and have been calling the auto shops around Palo Alto to install them. But the shops would not accept the parts I ordered, and said they had to order from the dealers, and the total cost would be $300 - $400, which is more than our budget. My son called Active, because of the good reviews on yelp, and Javier said he would take a look to see what he could do. My son took the car there, Javier said the parts would not fit perfectly, but he could install them to function correctly for $90. When my son drove the car back he asked me to take a look, with a smile on his face. And yes, the fender liners on both side have been nicely mounted! So I called Active and told the receptionist that my car's front bumper has a dent, backed in by another car in the packing lot. The receptionist asked me to bring the car in and they would take a look to see what could be done. I drove over, and Javier took a look and said if ordering a new bumper will cost $800 - $900. I said the car is 11 years old, and I would sell it in one or two years, I don't want to spend to much money on it. Javier asked, "Do you have 10 minutes? If you do I can give it a try." I said. "Yes, please." About 10 minutes later, Javier drove my car back, wow, the dent is basically gone, and the eye-sore is not there anymore! I asked Javier how much I owed him, and he said "no charge". I was really happy. I had finally saved up enough money to pay off my 2007 TSX and submitted the check to Honda, finally free of a car payment long before I thought I'd be. Of course, Fate enjoys finding ways to force you back into your cynical little doghouse and reinforce that, you, sir, simply got lucky and hard work had little to do with the fact that you saved up all of that money to pay off your car. This happened to me in a Sansome Street parking garage, taking a turn too sharply and somehow making a nice dent and scrape in my rear driver's side door. With that, I just left work immediately to get an estimate and get things properly fixed. Anyone that knows me knows I am *nuts* about my car. I'm totally insane. I searched for multiple body shops (Which reminds me: why is it that the Bay Area seems to have *body shop strip malls* in benign industrial parks, where like 40 of them are side-by-side? Are California drivers really that terrible? Do concrete blocks rain from the sky at random? Will Muni drivers ram you at the stop lights? I digress.) Aaaaanyway, I found this place on Yelp and thought I'd give it a go. I went down there and met with Eduardo who came out to look at my car and did something completely inexplicable: he made up the estimate (which came to $1750 --dont' hit your rear quarter panel on a Unibody car, kids --) and then walked back out to the car, explaining *every part* on the list and why it was necessary to do a decent job on the repair. I was amazed. Automotive shops are really fly-by-night, shady places in most cases. I've visited tons of mechanics and a bunch of body shops (more for aftermarket work than accidents) and never has one been so straightforward about what they're charging me for and why. I got the car back in four days, in which four days they needed to tear out a piece of the quarter panel, undent the door, reweld and pull the dent I made in the quarter panel as well as respray the door and panel. They even touched up a scratch an idiot made in the SFO International Garage when I was in Los Angeles for the weekend. I met Shawn the day I picked it up and he's a complete gearhead into good 'ol American muscle. He had a beautiful car himself. I was involved in a hit & run in front of my home. I called my insurance company and Active Auto Body was on their list of shops in my area. I was VERY pleased with the service. Everyone was extremly professional & Eduardo explained the steps taken for my car. He kept me up to date on my car. There wasn't alot of damage but he assured me that my Passport was also going to be checked to make sure the alignment was not effected by point of impact. When Eduardo called me to say my car was going to be ready on this day at this time. He was right on spot. Not only did I get my car back washed and cleaned and Satisfied!!! but, on my front drivers side window, the rubber seal was off track so every time I rolled up my window, I had to hold the seal down with my fingers so it wouldnt curl up. I did not realize until later that day when I was going to roll my window down that they realigned the seal for me. This was a HUGE Plus in my book. Going Above and Beyond for their customers!!!! This is long, but if you need your car repaired, read this. Shawn, the owner of Active Auto body is one of the nicest and incredibly honest men in the business. My mechanic, which is also wonderful referred me here a few years ago. *I am from LA and when you come from there, you never know who to trust because everyone seems to be trying to cheat and it is hard to find honest and dependable people to fix your car. He did a wonderful job on the car and had great service. About six months ago, I was lucky enough to get my mom's old Infiniti Qx4 and another shop in LA had just repaired the door after an accident. Well, that fancy panel that makes the car look different than the Pathfinder, but essentially the same, on the bottom of the door fell off after 2 months. I took it to Shawn and he fixed it on the spot, showed me the horrible job that the place in LA did (paint chipping off, bubbling) and fixed it free. Unfortunately, it fell off again after the rain hit us for a bit and other stuff that was wrong from the last body shop that made it difficult to stay in place. Unfortunately for me, I've had to take my Audi to the body shop three times in the past year. All three times, I took it to Active. I found Active Auto Body via Yelp and also noticed that they partner with my insurance company (but I could care less about what my insurance company recommends. They are here to make a profit). On all three visits, my experience has been excellent. I am very fussy about my cars and frequently, I find myself returning my car for some reason because something was not done to my satisfaction. That did not happen here. All three jobs were done to perfection. Eduardo and Shawn have always gone above and beyond to make the experience a great one. My third and latest experience pretty much sealed the deal for me as a lifetime customer. Two days before I brought my car in, a visor clip broke and while the car was in the shop, a daytime running light burned out. Both parts were replaced at no charge while the car was in the shop. In November 2014, my car was involved in a hit-and-run in a parking lot while I was shopping, and was left with a nasty dent and paint on the side of my white Mazda. I immediately contacted my insurance provider and they helped set me up with Active Auto Body. The process was so simple and the shop did everything they could to help me. They were able to take my car immediately to be fixed and had a rental car company pick me up from their office. The car was fixed exactly when they estimated it to be done. They ordered new parts and repainted the side of the car that was damaged, sent my back tire to Mazda to be repaired, and fixed my side mirror. The outside of the car looked as good as new! They also cleaned the inside of my car, and everything was exactly as I had left it. There was an issue with my tire pressure about a week after it was fixed, and Active was able to fix my car the same day free of charge. The tire pressure light started to have problems again a couple weeks ago, and Active looked at the car again. My spare tire pressure was low, so they filled it while I waited. I had to go to AAB to get my rear bumper repaired after I got rear ended. Progressive recommended I go here to get some repairs done. I was able to quickly set up an appointment with AAB and did not need to do much to check my car in. Christine at the front desk was very helpful. They were able to help me get a rental car with Enterprise and even called the Enterprise to get me picked up from AAB. Within a day, I got the estimates and time when my car would be fixed. Three days later, I picked up my car and could not have asked for a better job done on my bumper. They said they had to do some fixes on the blemishes and paint over my black Infiniti sedan. Since it was my first time with AAB, I was a little worried the paint would come out a different shade, but Active AutoBody got it done really well, it looks like new! When I picked up my car, the person that dropped it off went over a review of what was done to the car and was happy to answer any of my questions, even going as far as to show me other ways vehicles were repaired in the shop. I have State Farm insurance and Active is one of their preferred shops so I decided to try them out. I couldn't have asked for a better body shop to work with. I knew when I dropped off my car that it was in good hands and the work was going to be the highest quality. The owner Shawn is extremely nice and spent a lot of time with me. His employees are great as was the communication about the status of my car. It is also nice that they have a direct relationship with Hertz which makes the process of getting a rental car super easy, and the rates are great. I was recommended this shop from a few other Honda S2000 owners, and I took my car there after a nasty little hit and run surprise destroying a door and a fender. Shawn and the employees there were very professional, flexible, and understanding. This shop really tries to make it convenient for its customers. Turnaround time was pretty good for the amount of work involved. Active Auto Body stands by it's lifetime warranty -- as I had to bring it in a couple days after I got it back originally for some work that I wasn't completely pleased with. Admittedly I'm a VERY picky person when it comes to my car, and Shawn had no problem redoing the work to meet my standards. If I could give five stars, I would -- but the fact that it wasn't done correctly the first time around merits a minor penalty. The work itself when fixed the second time around was superb though. One of the most professional and best customer service I've ever had in a long time. My car (2018 Subaru Outback Limited) was rear-ended by a truck in July 2020. After almost a month long battle with the insurance companies to accept liability, I found Active Auto Body shop in Yelp, and contacted them. Christine helped me get an appointment which was quick and convenient for me, and she was extremely helpful in making sure the whole process went conveniently. Eduardo was the estimator, and he did an amazing job in explaining the damage, helping me understand how they will go about the repairs and that they will take care of everything from the time I left my car there. And they did !! I didn't have to contact them at all. They gave me an update every two weeks, about the delay and how they were working hard to get my car back to, as good as new. They worked with the insurance company to help me get a rental, and took care of everything. The rental agency came and picked me up at their body shop. When the repairs were done, they were able to return the car themselves, without me going to the rental agency. I've never seen such an efficient and courteous operation at all. This is the level of professionalism, efficiency, and courtesy, and results, that make a business such as Active Auto Body, the best in the Silicon Valley. I had a small parking lot fender-bender a few weeks back and need to get some work done on my front bumper. Based on the recommendation of a close friend I took my car to Active. There was an issue with my car that we didn't notice at the time - at speeds higher than about 50mph, an annoying wheezing sound could be heard from the driver's seat. Shawn promptly offered to take the car in, and spent a lot of time replacing the weather striping and test-driving it on the freeway, then replacing it again and driving with tape over all openings that air could come through... but the wheezing was still there at the front-left window. The window closed perfectly, so it seemed baffling that there was any kind of wind noise. And here comes a Shawn's stroke of genius: what if it wasn't the window, but the mirror gasket? I decided to come here to get my 2009 370z repaired after I was rear-ended at a stop sign (the other driver left an indentation on my rear bumper and also scuffed the paint). I had an estimate done, and AAA (the other driver's insurance) approved it. They are not in the AAA "network", but I wanted to make sure my car was worked on by Active because of their reputation. Javier and Eduardo were super helpful, and the owners Shawn and Lisa were great. Everyone made sure all my questions and concerns were addressed.They worked with AAA and took care of all the paperwork. They also called Hertz to come get me when I dropped my car off at the body shop. Lisa gave me an upgrade coupon for the car rental, which took me from a Sentra to an Altima. I dropped my car off on a Monday and it was ready by Wednesday. In between they gave me updates. I picked it up Thursday morning. They had vacuumed my car, washed it, and detailed it. The repair job they did on the rear bumper (they had to remove it) was top notch. Javier even demonstrated to me how to repair a rock chip on my car that I got on the freeway, and even gave me some paint to take home for future use.
