I was recommended to these guys by a friend, who though we have two completely different hair styles, I trust with no questions asked. So when he gave me the tip about them, I called to book an appointment right away for my son and I. The barber I was recommended and called for was booked up and I did think for a second to keep calling around, but David over the phone was very welcoming and professional I gave them a shot anyway. Now being from New York, I don't like or have much faith in Los Angeles barbers. IO just do not. But when my regular guy, from Philly, became busier with his other business, I had no choice to look around. My son got his cut from Juan and myself a Tracy I think her name was. Both very nice and did awesome work. The shop is fantastic. Not just the aesthetics but the energy and vibe. For everyone! Including kids. Which I love and of course is key to me. I work a few minutes from them and don't live that far either, so my son and I are definitely coming back. To give the other barbers a shot as well. Overall, I recommend them for sure! Just happened to be at the right place at the right time, and managed to get a spontaneous appointment for a teen male haircut. You should actually call to schedule appointments. The vibe was chill they had on good music and the barbers were very friendly and welcoming. After a short consultation they got straight to work and preformed in a skillful manner. This place did a great job on my hair. I made a same day appointment and didn't have to wait. The place is super bright, almost clinical. Looks like maybe they do social media videos too because I saw a ring light on a light stand. No complaints, price was reasonable; $40 for short hair + tip. Cash only but they have an ATM. read more

Keith took over cutting my hair from Robert and it's consistent with the excellent service. Keith is quick and precise. If you're part of Raider nation, Keith is your dude. I feel that all the Barbers at Active Barbers, could deliver a good cut. They are appointment oriented but they take walk in clients when there's space. I called at 6:15 PM and they took me at 6:29 PM as a walk-in. 40 bucks for a haircut - with exacting precision and an attention to detail that I would not have expected at the end of a business day (these guys work 12 hr shifts). One of the best barber shops in the area for razor fades. Maybe ten or so dollars up from some of the other shops, but well worth the money. The only thing I didn't like was not being able to park in the lot behind the shop and having to find paid parking on the street. read more

Their idea of a close shave is a bloodbath. David, in particular, is a butcher--he'll leave you with painful cuts and major irritation. Appointments are frequently lost, the staff is always late, and they lack even the most basic customer service skills. They are an absolute disaster, professionalism and basic decency are completely absent. They refuse to acknowledge or correct their mistakes, and their massive egos are unbearable. Avoid this place at all costs. They're spiraling downhill fast, and I doubt they'll be in business much longer read more

The Michael Angelo of this establishment would be no other than the owner Robert who shows nothing but love and respect to all that come through... and for my hair. To put it simply the scissors here are truly paint brushes and with every stroke comes another fade, tapper, buzz that looks better than the Mona Lisa. Go to Active Barbers for a great cut and a good vibe. There are a lot of great barber shops in LA, and you can count Active Barbers as one of them. I've had cuts from a bunch of different barbers there, and they were all excellent cuts. The atmosphere is very positive, with lots of chatter between the barbers and just a fun and playful atmosphere. It's a quick trim at a good price and the cut always keeps for a long time. My husband came for a haircut today to clean up for a wedding. He spoke to his barber at length about how much he loved his curls and is looking forward to growing them out even more and asked SEVERAL times to leave the top and only clean up the sides. That he wanted to keep and continue to grow out his curls. They chopped everything off. Every single curl. To say we're disappointed is an understatement.
