Before reading further- I've tried over 20 barber shops on the Westside- your cheap $25 to boutique $80 cuts and appreciate each place for what it is. AMAZING fades/sides 5/5 These guys know how to fade extremely well, and for the price it's hard to beat in this area (west side Samo). Their low/skin fades are awesome, and they really take their time on getting things right in this area. They also razor shave beards/sides/necklines here and that's a plus. 5 out of 5 AVOID for scissors 1/5 But if you want anything with texture or length that requires scissors on top do NOT come here. These guys can't properly handle undercuts, quits, or anything with length and are quick to take their buzzers to anything on top. Lincoln Barbers, in particular Sean (the owner) didn't ask me what kind of cut I wanted when I sat in his chair, he let my hair talk to him, all 85 of my cowlicks, and this conversation he had with my hair gave me one of the best cuts of my life (no kidding)! His shop is busy! I mean wall to wall, and I get it. They do good stuff here. They say they take walk-ins but as busy as they are I would probably get a confirmed appointment. I've booked myself through New Years. The shop is pristinely clean and comfortable. Oh, I forgot to mention: It's the only haircut I've ever gotten that I didn't have to rush back home and take a shower to get the itchy haircut residue off of my neck and back. Took my 5 year old here for his very first professional haircut amd it was such an epic experience . I don't know the name of the barber who cut his hair but he is super talented. My son went from shaggy bowl cut to awesome versatile cut that can be worn relaxed or can be made into a mohawk with gel. My son can't stop playing with his hair and making new styles. The vibe in the shop is so typical. A bunch of dudes, good loud music, and lots of dapper. The place was constantly busy and every guy walking out looked great. I came in to get the side of my head re-shaved and get a design in it. When I got there I took a seat and waited for my turn to see the barber with the design skills. I had to wait about 55 minutes because they were super busy. It was worth the wait. Robert the barber took care of me as soon as he was available. I don't think he knows how to do many designs so I left it up to him to do what he could. He put a shooting star in my head. It turned out well. He was a bit rough with the buzz razor (I don't know what it's really called), it felt as if he was trying to stab my head with it. He just kept shoving it into my head. One of the best things about this barber shop is that they open at 7:00am which is very rare but so necessary and such a life saver. I've had so many last minute before work moments when I needed to look my best and to be able to start my day looking as fresh and on point as possible is a game changer. This is a great shop that I go to when my main barber isn't available, but the past two times I've had my line pushed back and made crooked, neither times receiving an apology for the weeks to come of having to regrow my hair. I wouldn't have left this review if this time I didn't offer a potential fix - (it would basically be putting a bandaid on a stab wound) - to the car wreck of a haircut that I got but only received a shrug and a statement that it would constitute a "whole other haircut". I moved to Santa Monica almost 2 years ago and thanks to Yelp I found Lincoln barbers. I happened to get Steven to cut my hair and it was the absolute best job hands down. Really amazing fading, the entire cut even better than I had imagined. Edging with a Straight-razor too. I had been worried to leave my stylist in AZ but after this haircut I realized what a crappy job the dude before was doing. So I always see him now and he always does an incredible job. Apparently the secret is out and this place gets pretty busy. The trick is that Steven takes appointments. The best days to book are mid-week as weekends are busiest. Also the price is incredibly low so I always tip well because they deserve it and really they could be charging a lot more. read more

Why is it so difficult to find someone who can cut hair? I mean, aren't there thousands of men and women going to school for this sort of thing? I'm the type of guy who gets a bad haircut from a guy when I told him how I wanted to look. "Yeah, man, I'm just gonna cut it so it looks good." K, pal. My barber at Lincoln asked, "So what do you wanna do?" I told him the lengths I usually leave on the top and sides and that I wanted it faded in. Ten minutes later, much to my surprise, my hair looked great and exactly how I'd asked for it. Okay, maybe it was a little better than I'd expected. He lined me all up nicely too. No chit-chat which for a lot of guys is kind of a relief; I mean, I have friends that I talk to, why doesn't the guy with the sharp equipment near my head just focus on the task at hand. OK, fellas. This review is on behalf of my fiance'. I am writing to you all the way from Naples, FL, & my yelp effort is for a reason! After doing some sight seeing, my man decides that he'd like to get a haircut. To my surprise, he directed us across the street from the Pier, and headed towards Lincoln Barbers. Nick is extremely particular on who "fades him up", so our conquest to see if he'd actually sit in the Barber chair was still up for negotiation. We arrive. Nick, the gentleman he is (most of the time, lol) holds the door open for me, and welcomes me inside. When I tell you that the air was filled with testosterone & "MAN-ness" it was overwhelming, but a delightful overwhelming :) (p.s. single gals...this is a good spot to take your lil brother, lol might get lucky & meet your prince charming, lol) There was a mix of music playing in the background, high ceilings, with yellow bright lights, two huge big screen plasma tv's on with some repeat of a recent UFC fight, and some football game on the other...The barbers all looked like a version of "Drake", "Lil Wayne", "Pauly D" or (yeap) even "Al Pacino". Bottom line, I've never seen my man have such a fly & sexy haircut. Perfection! These guys have loyal customers and do a damn good job. I started going to Steven after several people swore by him and I followed him to Lincoln Barbers. It looks like the rest of the guys are just as good and some even make appointments weeks in advance. I don't get how these guys fixed my haircuts from Supercuts, Floyd's, and the like yet charge almost half the price. I leave a good tip in good conscious. This is a barbershop with talent. They do a good fade, blend everything well, cut nicely with a bare blade, and clean up all those hairs with a high pressure air hose. Two bad points. One is that you need to have plenty of time. These guys take pride in their work. That means you may need to wait if you don't have an appointment, and your own cut will take a little while. But it's always a good conversation and well worth it. I guess you could ask for a fast cut and still end up with a better haircut since they undercharge given the talent. The other thing is parking. There is only street parking. I usually go after work and have found parking, but it may take a round or two. Finally, this place is easy to miss. It's between Pacific and a little plaza (don't park there) before Strand St on the west side of Lincoln. I usually find parking on Pacific or Lincoln. read more

I've been coming here since I moved back to Santa Monica in August 2013. All the barbers here give great cuts, are friendly and the atmosphere is solid. They all use straight blades to finish up (its not a real cut without it). Only downer for me is their hours are 7AM-6PM. That itself is great but I like to go before work and more often then not I'll get there at 715AM and I'm usually waiting until 730AM for someone to open up. For that reason I'd give them 4.5 stars as it puts me in a bit of a time crunch. To their credit i have rolled in 5 min before close and was not turned away.
