Took my VW GTI to Active Collision, GOT LIED TOO AND RIPPED OFF by Leo Gutierrez. Feb 2nd 2023, I took my car to get repaired, with front bumper damage. Dropped off my car Feb 19th, went out of the country for 3 months on deployment, paid Leo $3526.99 check from the insurance company. I never heard from Leo or anyone at Active Collision, I was always the one calling for updates, like many other people in the reviews, I was given the same song and dance, my car is ready for paint, they are waiting on parts, parts are on backorder, then I get told by Fernando that Leo is not here, and he cant be reached. This was in June 2023. Everytime I called I never got a hold of Leo, there was always a reason, I finally called and informed Fernando that I'm going on Friday Aug 4th to pick up my vehicle, to have it ready, and to have any parts that were removed or they had bought to put in the car that I would take with me. I arrive to pick up my car, and when I arrive got asked who I was, and what did I need. I told him I had called the other day and was there to pick up my car. He goes in the shop and informs me that my car is burried and will have someone bring it out shortly. Before he hands me the keys he said that he had talked to Leo and had a paper for me to sign, and that stated I picked up my car as is, O.k. just give me my car, while this is happening another customer has come in asking for Leo, talks to Fernando, and starts cussing at him. By the looks of things it seamed that this happens often and this guy he has working the front desk is the guy that gets to hear it since Leo isnt there. It takes a while to get my car out and when I finally get my car I get informed that a gate swung open and my car got hit and has another dent on it. I was more than pissed, my car was in worse condition as I had dropped it off 6 months earlier. Same damaged front end, same zip ties I had used to hold up the damage! I get in my car and have the check engine light and about 8 other warnings on the instrument cluster. I drove my car home that way just to get it out of there, I had to stop on the side of the fwy to cut a piece that was flying off. Finally get a hold of Leo some time in October, and asked for a refund, crazy is that he actually answered the phone, I asked for $2000 back and we would be good, she agreed and was told that he had some things going on and that he would deffinetly refund me $2000. I called him, left messages and emailed him, he emailed back a few times but never issued a refund. fast forward to March 2024, sent her a demand letter asking for a full refund $3526.99, or I had no other choice but to take Leo to Small Claims Court. Leo emails me hours later, stating that I broke contract by picking up my vehicle, and to take him to court. O.K., I submit a small claims case against Leo, and when he gets served with court papers he emails me" I want to take care of this matter soon, please give me until next month to resolve this. I am catching up with emergency matters I have to attend to." Lies, he never reached out. I go ahead with the small claims, I have to use the West Covina Courthouse, that is 4.2 miles down the street from Active Collision. Leo never shows up to the hearings. I won the case by default. The courts awarded me $3626.99, after winning the case he had 30 days to dispute this claim, does not. I served Leo again with court papers to submit financials so I can collect my money the court awarded me, Leo does not show again, the judge finally places a bench warrant for Leo to appear in court. He finally apears on July 31st, I see him in the hallway and start asking him why he ripped me off and who else has he done this too. Leo starts giving me excusses, that he had family issues, incompedent workers, that his business isnt doing good, covid, never once did Leo mention that he would do the right thing and refund my money. He was put on the payment plan, $500 down payment, $500 every 22nd until debt is paid... to date Leo has missed 3 payments, going to take him back to court. This is my experience with Leo at Active Collision, and by reading others reviews that arent his friends or family, seams like im not the only one that he owes money too. read more

Back in May of 2023 I took my 1976 Chevrolet Caprice Classic to Active Collision on a referral from a friend. He "Leo Gutierrez ":promised me a complete Kandy paint job for $5000.00 said he wanted to do show car paint job. We'll he didn't he nickle and dime me. Wanted money on every phase of the job that ended up being a 2 year job. I finally got the car back on 01/25/2925 Color change was a good choice I picked out the completed job was a disaster he left with parts Undone runs in the clear Orange peel all over broken parts I have to replace because he doesn't have insurance nor does he want to take responsibility for his bad work. Took him to court and waiting on courts decision. He put on a show for the courts and lied his ass off. He is real good at lying. Watch out for this guy he will rob & cheat you. Your better off going to Earl Sheib for a paint job. Stay away from Active Collision because your car will come out looking like a Active Collision. Owner lied on multiple occasions causing my car to be stuck in his shop for over 5 months. Agreed to pay for rental but only made partial payment, forcing me to cover the rest. Just found out the owner threatened me over my negative yelp review. Already reported him to better business after I had to take my car to another shop. Absolutely ridiculous if you ask me. Went to get a quote to have my tailgate door painted on my 1977 C10. When I was there Leo was saying that he wanted a truck just like this. I asked for the quote he suggested I get the whole truck repainted at a cost of $25,000. In my mind I was what wrong with this guy. Im here just for the tailgate door and the lettering where it says CHEVROLET. He continued on all the small details that needed fixing which was not the tailgate door. I just ingnorned his recommendations because I just wanted the tailgate door repainted and lettering outlined. He then continued to say the trim on this truck is not original because it has screw in it. Thats when I knew, he know nothing about 3rd Generation Chevy C10 trucks. He quoted me $1,500 for the work. I literally drove down the street and got a quote for half the price. He justified the high price because his shop is extremly busy and this project would delay his other jobs that he needs to get done. I peeked around the fence to see if someone could help but they made eye contact with me and kept a working. I knocked on the door again several times and no one opened the door. It was taken to a prior shop that I went to for many years and they are now slacking. I picked up a 2016 CPO Lexus IS & unfortunately with their lackluster reconditioning standards these days one of the side rocker panels had some damage to the paint. I like all my cars to look mint so I asked my friend at Longo where they take their cars to be painted & he recommended Leo at Active Collision. I spoke to Leo & he was very personable over the phone & gave me the rough estimate that I was looking for. He was also very patient & explained the process to me since my paint was a three stage paint & how they would go about taking care of it. Everything sounded great so I brought the car in one day & they took off the rocker panel without keeping my car so I was able to drive back to work. A few days later I came back & in 15 minutes the rocker panel was back on & was a perfect match to the original paint. I was really impressed with their work, great turn around time & that it was a family business, which I always like to support rather than those ridiculous places like Maaco which do horrible paint jobs at a cheap price just to maximize volume. I also found Leo to be very honest because there were some spots on my car that I thought were rock chip damage but Leo recognized they were just some sort of gravel/tar & that one of his guys could use a clay bar type thing to just safely rub it off. He did that for me on the spot & It looked great, so when he could have told me it needed to be painted, he was honest & just took care of it like an honest business man, at that point I was a customer for life. With that being said, I am going to go back to Leo for any future paint work that I need because I know I will get quality work, at a competitive price & will be working with an honest business/family man rather than some chain place that doesn't care about my car. I had a problem with this this company "Active Collision". I drop off my vehicle on 25 March 2023. The owner Leo look at my vehicle and told me that it would take one month of work and you will have your vehicle. Well that was a lie it was 2 months, I saw some reviews that a 2 WEEK WORK recenty and said TOOK 5 months. I was not going to let it happen to me. I went to the place and said "why you guys taking long if you told me it was a month work" Leo: "Well my work got injured". I had no idea or else i would've been okay with it because it's important but the problem with Fernando leo's brother is the guy to keep people updated but never did with that. Also they told me 4 times my vehicle is ready to paint. I know they are lying and not doing what they are supposed to do. I recently saw a post on Saturday May 6 2023. A customer took his car and less then an hour they fixed what needed to be fix. I was angry because Fernando told me "your vehicle is in the paint department i will let you know when it out and ready to reassemble" and the vehicle they fixed on saturday the part had to be painted so what happen to my vehicle? did they paint it or didn't because they post other vehicles on their page but won't post mine? I am never going to bring my vehicle here again. If my paint starts to peel i will find a new paint place because i dont want to take months waiting for my vehicle. Leo wouldve had 2 other vehicles of mine but i am never going to bring it because they dont communicate with the customers and they will take too long to finish some thing that could be done in maybe a week or less. if you're planning to bring vehicle to this company in Active Collision I recommend you not to if your vehicle has a dent or a scratch or if you want to be painted expect to wait months not days or weeks months. they told me one month it would take to fix my vehicle, but they lied and extended it to two months. If I didn't go to that company to confront them, they put big probably taking longer making excuses, also lying, not communicating, not keeping you updated on, the owner Leo block me of my number. It's crazy how I have to keep myself updated by texting them so they can text me and update me. Things seemed to start off well with this company but ended on a very bad note. We needed some repairs done due to being rear ended. I totally understand right now things are taking a long time to get parts cause of shipping and COVID however we just did not receive much communication from this company about what was happening and when the projected parts would come. At first we had the car looked at and they ordered the parts needed for what they saw before opening up bumper. We paid for parts and labor upfront. Once they received the parts we dropped off our car and they did not inform us until about a week later that more parts and labor was needed for damage found under bumper. That's fine. We then waited about 2 weeks with no info as to what was the status. We tried calling and texting with no response. Seemed like they actually blocked my husbands number. I then emailed and asked what was going on was there a projected date when the parts are expected they finally responded and let us know it would be another two weeks. That's fine I can't rush it everything is backed up. Once they received those parts it was another week of them working on our car. On the way they were supposed to do an inspection we were told there was an accident with our car and it needed a scratch repaired and we wouldn't be getting our car back that day and it would be now Monday the next week. Again Monday we waited for the car and didn't hear back til Tuesday that the car would be delivered along with a check for $1000. Tuesday the car came the new paint job seemed to have dust stuck to it that still will not come off and a couple new little spots of chips in the paint on the car. At this point I'm just glad to have my car back. I deposited the check that day to find out that it was returned. I asked them about it they said they experienced check fraud and all accounts were affected and would send us a new check once their accounts were back up. I then proceeded to email every couple days checking on this if it had been resolved. They said no each time then finally let me know it would be about a month til their account was up. I waited longer than the date they told me to ask again from two separate emails and have not heard anything back from them since. So never received the check and have been ignored. I would not recommend this company nor would I ever use them again. read more
