Simply a great store with great products and the best customer support staff. They were so friendly and knowledgeable and showed me most of their product line. Chris D and Kristen were awesome. They were so friendly that I decided to actually take a photograph of both of them standing next to one of their main product lines. I highly recommend visiting this store at the shops. Friendly and helpful employee. Not familiar with this shopping area. I parked in front where metered parking is $1.50 minimum and can only use a credit card. I didn't pay, as there were plenty of open spots and I knew exactly what I wanted. I was in and out of Active in less than 7 minutes. Came into Active Ride Shop prior to going to Pac Sun to look for one item and one item only - Rainbow Flip Flops ! This store is definitely niche and is tailored to one specific market which is perfectly fine and in fact I was impressed with the overall layout of the store. Not to mention how friendly and helpful the staff was. It was slightly busy on the Saturday we came in and we were still able to get adequate help and all of our questions answered! Review specifically of Christian and my board purchase for my niece. I had called previously to see if they had some wheels and other items in stock. I had initially decided that I would be using my old trucks for my niece and take her here to get a board. I called and checked for some wheels I needed and other parts, Christian answered and said they had what I was looking for and to ask for him when I came by. My wife and I made the trip out and brought along my niece and found Christian when we got there. He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable on all the items I purchased, great with customer service, and made recommendations on what to get and provided info on what he has used in the past. We ended up getting my niece a complete setup in store with his help and Christian threw everything together for us. Will be back again. read more

Horrible customer service! Salesperson forgets to take off the sensor on a tshirt (Christmas gift) for my son. I took it to the same store, but in Ontario Mills, but was told they can't remove it because I didn't have a receipt and would have to go back to Chino Hills... I called the Store Manager, Torrard? at Chino Hills, and he literally just rambled on saying, "it's store policy due to a lot of theft... do you have an Active Card (was never offered to sign up for one)...And blah blah....." I then went to Hot Topic and they removed the sensor WITHOUT any questions. HORRIBLE POLICY, ACTIVE! Totally not cool asking the customer to run around because and ACTIVE salesperson did not do their job right in the first place! I have shopped here a few times with my family and up until this weekend we had always had good experiences. I took my items to the register and paid with a $100 bill. It was an older bill so the guy at the register checked it with his pen, but then looked at it in the light and suddenly said that it was fake. He said it passed the marker check, but said "all the fake bills pass that" (why do you bother with a useless test then??). I was surprised, but then he said that he was required to keep it and although he was technically required to call the police, he stated that he'd "let me go this time." I told him that if he was required to keep my money and believed that it was fake then I wanted him to call the sheriff's department immediately so that I could have record that he kept my $100. While waiting for the deputy I googled information about a 1985 bill and found that there was no embedded strip or watermark placed on bills until 1990. You could only tell by the raised ink in the corner and the red and blue fibers in the bill. I asked to look at my bill and also to take a picture of it. I could feel the raised ink and see the fibers. The deputy arrived and after speaking to me away from the store employee told me that he believed the bill was real and handed it back to me. I took the bill to my bank where they immediately and easily confirmed that the bill was real. Seems like a very easy way to make $100 as a cashier. "This bill is fake and I have to keep it...but don't worry, I won't get the cops involved." read more

Dealt with Tyler and he provided outstanding customer service. I was looking for a back pack to give as a gift and called the store. Tyler was professional and went above and beyond to locate the item. Unfortunately, they didn't have the one I was looking for and looked throughout the store for similar options. He even offered to send me a picture of two backpacks so I could see them before going to the store and making the final purchase. It is rare to find this type of customer focused service. I was just in here recently and was greeted with a smile. Brian, whom I remember from the ORIGINAL store (back in the day!) helped me try on some shoes. When I discovered they didn't have my size, he offered to have them delivered from another store for no extra charge. Today, I got a friendly call from them telling me they came in! Great service! This has got to be the best active I've ever been too. The staff at this store is so friendly and helpful and they'll make anyone feel welcomed. I went recently to buy a complete board and was amazed by Tyler, the cashier. He made sure I had everything I needed and even gave me a tool to cut off the excess grip tape when told him I wanted to set up my board myself. I use to love shopping at Active Ride Shop. The Brea location was my " Go To" for many years..always great selection & great service. I've not been since we moved a few years ago but decided to place an online order for Christmas. (Big mistake !). I placed the order December 3rd. When the order came, 1 item was missing. I waited another week or so but no word from them. I emailed them 3 times but no response. I called their 800 number and waited on hold well over 10 minutes before anyone even answered. Finally, I spoke with Gina who could not give me ANY information on when I would get it or why it had not gone out. She couldn't tell me if I would even get it before Christmas. She said I could have a refund but offered NO apologies for the company's lack of response or delivery. NO explanation and made NO attempt to help remedy the situation and get me the sweatshirt in time for Christmas. Mistakes happen and are not a huge deal. But the complete lack of responsibility or customer service is a deal breaker. You lost a customer. read more

Let's just say I'm all about customer service since I work in the industry of catering to the public. I can say this was a wonderful experience from beginning to end. We needed to try on some shoes and this knowledgeable and super helpful individual by the name of Tyler came and helped us through our shopping experience from start to finish. He got us the shoes and sizes we wanted and if the shoes weren't available he would bring out other shoes similar to the one we wanted. This store is a lot smaller than a lot of the other Active Retail Stores, but still has great service and lots of skateboarding gear, equiptment, and clothing. Ask for Joe! They have excellent customer service and are always willing to help you out! The employees are always so friendly and one of them even taught me a few tricks on my skateboard. (I wish I hadn't forgotten his name the dude was so chill) You won't find snowboard gear at this location so if that's what your looking for go to one of the bigger stores like the one in Rancho Cucamonga or San Dimas. They do sometimes sell Mountain High Season Passes for discounted rates before or during the ski season. I'm thinking about applying for a job at this location. My boyfriend and I shop at this location regularly, but this was our first time meeting Tyler, and he was so friendly we had to leave a review for him specifically. He went out of his way to talk to us at the workbench, even though we had mentioned that we weren't looking to buy today. He struck up a conversation with us anyway, and was more than happy to hang around and talk for as long as we wanted to. Every time i go into the shop i am greeted immediately and asked if i need any help. The store is very clean and organized, it was very easy to find my size. I did not have to go searching through racks. You are supposed to have your ID card with you whenever using a credit card, although i have forgotten in a few times and they still allowed my transaction. I continue to go back often because their customer service is wonderful. read more
