I recently took my truck to Adams Chevrolet in Havre de Grace for a diagnosis and, ultimately, a transmission fluid change (~$500-$600). I was told it would be an in‑and‑out, same‑day service. I made an appointment, dropped the vehicle off the night before, and then heard absolutely nothing until I called around 10:30am. I was told I'd get a call back in a few minutes -- I didn't. I called again at 11:30, left a message for the service advisor, and finally received a call around 12:30 pm. I was told I "needed a whole new transmission and cooler" at a cost of $7,800-$8,800. My son is an ASE‑certified master mechanic who had already provided an initial diagnostics on the issue, and the only reason we brought it to the dealer was because we don't have the lift or tool at home to complete the repair. The dealership claimed there were "tiny metal shavings" in the transmission pan -- which is normal and exactly what the magnet in the pan is designed to collect (you can also google this if you know nothing about cars). When that explanation didn't hold up, they switched to saying the cooler had low pressure. When we asked for the actual pressure readings, the service manager admitted no pressure test was ever done. The service was horrible, the communication was poor (we had to chase them for updates), and we were given information that was either misleading or blatantly untrue. After buying many vehicles from this dealership over the years, this experience was beyond disappointing. Completely unacceptable and ridiculous. read more

Took my 2024 Chevy Silverado 3500 there for oil change and tire rotation, got home and the next morning the left front tire was flat, found the cap missing on the air valve and the tightened the valve core in the valve stem two and a have turns, they said they added DEF, which they did not, so I had to add myself and I had to top off the oil when I got it home, no more Adams for me! read more

We called to BUY a $50k truck and put money down over the phone to hold it. But the dealershipship does not take money to hold a vehicle...what?? So we said we will be there as soon as possible (because we live 90 minutes away) to sign the papers. This was a sure thing - we were not coming to look at it or test drive. We wanted to BUY it! We immediately got on the road and we were in communication with the salesman, Brian, the whole trip. An hour into our drive Brian text and said somebody came and bought the truck. We turned around and went home. He said we could still come look at it. WHY? A truck somebody else just bought? Wasted several hours of my time and several gallons of my gas. I understand a sale is a sale, but you have to be reasonable and let people put money down over the phone! What kind of policy is that?? Ridiculous. read more

Regarding the Service Department: I brought my vehicle to be serviced due to a recall on the hood latch/striker. At that time I will say the staff was friendly and my recall was fixed to my knowledge in a timely manner. I had brought my vehicle home assuming the professionals addressed the recall with no further issues. At a later date, I needed to add washer fluid to the appropriate reservoir under my hood. I proceeded to engage the lever inside my vehicle on the driver's side to release my hood. I was unable to open my hood to add the washer fluid to my vehicle. I called them regarding this issue and was given an appointment time the following week to address this matter. I brought my vehicle in at the scheduled appointment time and I was told the cable to the lever inside my car to release my hood was broken. I was told I would not be charged "for looking at the car to see what the problem is" however I would be financially responsible for the parts/labor. My vehicle's hood latch was working fine with no issues prior to the recall being "fixed" at this location. Bottom line, I brought my vehicle in to be serviced only for it to come out with another issue after being serviced. This is shady, no one came out to show me the old vs. new part or that my hood was working appropriately. I don't believe I should pay for this matter however they are unwilling to be accountable or trusted at this time. Do not recommend this place after this situation. read more

Will never buy another vehicle from this dealership again. Brand new tire had a bad spot in it and goes flat. They won't honor the warranty as a faulty tire. Tire literally has 1000 miles on it. Service department was rude and laughed at my wife when calling about it. Gave her the run around all day, stated the tire would be available at 1pm.. then 230pm.. truck shows up at 430pm. Whole day of work missed and charged for a tire that was damaged prior to the sale. Lesson learned to NEVER shop or buy with them again. Service manager lies and tells me my wife said she hit a curb. I got a transmission fluid exchange at Adams today, and it was less than what I was quoted. The staff was very helpful, and there was free wifi with open access, so I was able to get work done while I waited. When I first walked in there was a previous customer who was explaining to a staff member that he had recently lost his job and couldn't afford his payments anymore. The staff member was walking him through all of his options to try and come up with a solution, and from the sounds of it was very honest and empathetic. I bought my vehicle from them in January and has had to return it to be repaired for the same thing 3 times and it still was not repaired. They gave me the run around to even have them look at it without paying them. In addition to that, my check engine light came an along with several other sensors and I just took it to another Chevy dealer and had it repaired and paid the money. My father brought my sister's car in to have pcv valve changed, after the work was done the tech said they may be a nick in the head gasket, not thinking anything of it they drove off the lot. My sister didn't even made it to Aberdeen and her car started smoking. Got the car parked and within a day all the oil leaked out. They went back to the dealership and was told they wasn't done by their tech and it was done by us. The tech went on to say he never told my father there may be a nick in the gasket (which he is basically calling my father a liar). My question is how can a driveable car get into the shop and then leave and not make it no more than 5 minutes down the rode? NEVER GO HERE! My husband and I negotiated a price for a GMC Acadia over the phone and were told to come up. The dealer even called 3 times the morning of us coming out to make sure we were still interested and the deal was still on. We brought a cashier's check in the exact amount agreed upon even. After driving an hour and a half to their Havre de Grace location, we were told they "accidentally" moved it their Fallston location which would have saved us 30 minutes. Once we got there, we test drove the car and decided we wanted it. That is when they tried to increase the price by $4,000 and stated that the inflated price was the new price they were going to sell it at. After explaining the deal we made and reminding them of their promises, we ended up taking our cash and leaving. A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Do not come here to get Service unless You have a Newer Vehicle or plan to Purchase a New Vehicle. Originally came here to figure out why the check Engine light was on and what I needed to be replaced or fixed to pass Emmsions. They ran a Diagnostic and told me parts had to be ordered and I could bring it back when they arrive. Came back the replaced the parts. Check engine light came back on not even 72hrs later. Brought it back was told "well I told You that it's an older Vehicle and other things might break." Had them run another Diagnostic and was told it was a Marjor Vapor Leak due to the Filler neck and Hose. I ask when could they replace it. Was told "That part was Discontinued and would have to be done by a Repair shop. The repair shop also would have to replace the Fuel lines they were Rusted and are not safe." SMH Paid for the Diagnostic and left. Went to a repair shop here in Havre De Grace. Was quoted $2350 and was explained the fuel tank would have to be removed to do the repairs. All this run around just to Pass Emmsions. I work for Myself and need My work Truck. Adams and the Repair shop told me they had no loaner trucks or would reimburse Me for a truck if I rented one. So Did My Research bought the Filler Neck, Fuel Lines and a new Fuel pump and 1/2" Impact Gun. All totally a final Price of $865. Took me One day to prop the bed up to access Everything replaced the parts and went a week Later and passed Emmsions and got Me a New tool in the Process. Also consider the Fact I'm not a Certified Mechanic. And do to the Economy I was able to do the Job and not miss a Day of wor. I do Property Maintenance. Long winded but Facts! read more

Just bought our 5th car from Adams, a 2017 Chevy Equinox and the service was outstanding, our salesman was Brian Harvey and he was very knowledgeable about all the features of the vehicles and was never pushy or over aggressive. But the great service did not stop there, all of the employees mostly remembered us from our previous purchases. And to top it all off when we got to the Financial part of the sale, since our trade in was a newer vehicle a 2015 Trax ( my wife drives a lot of miles during the year for work) Herb Eller the Finance Manager refunded the payment for the gap insurance from the Trax and put it towards the Equinox, it may not sound like much but they could have just as easily not done it also. And I cannot say enough about the service department, Joe Alampi and his crew are great, most of the time you don't even need an appointment , and Jerry and Nick always take care of my whole family real well. My wife and I had a terrible experience buying our first car at Adams Chevrolet. We came here after having read all the great reviews, and were initially glad to have settled on an economy car that fit our limited budget. Everything went smoothly, until we handed them our money. We were given an assurance by the salesman that all our paperwork was up to date and that we'd be able to register the car the following day (this was very important to us since we live out of state and were about to travel cross-country). The next day we found out that the dealership had withheld the title from us, and that we therefore couldn't register the car. Shortly after speaking to the salesperson who apologized to me on the phone, the manager Monty Wells called me back and berated me for accusing the dealership of being at fault. He screamed at me over the phone for five minutes, insulted me and accused me of lying on numerous occasions before hanging up on me. I found myself in a very stressful situation and Monty was in no way willing to help or acknowledge any error. I was utterly shocked. Despite having paid them around $10,000 just 12 hours prior, I sat there being treated like a lowlife, feeling taken advantage of and feeling helpless at the fact that I didn't have access to the most important vehicle document which I should have received when we bought the car. I tried to call back on numerous occasions but no one answered, and when they did they purposely hung up on me. They were blunt about not wanting to speak with me, and ultimately they forced us to wait weeks to receive our title, without any type of formal apology. While their mistake could have been forgiven had they tried to remedy the situation, the manager really left me with a disgusting feeling in my stomach. My wife and I were left mad at ourselves for trusting this dealership, and ultimately it was clear to us that because we could only afford a car at the low end of the range, this establishment had no respect for us.
