Came here when they first opened. Service was great, food was great, but the beans were awesome. Came back almost specifically for the beans and was disappointed. I'm not sure if it's a smaller container or not, but it feels like it. My bigger issue is i got mostly liquid and not many actual beans. Flavor and texture were more watered down than the last time as well. Au jus cup could have been more full. Didn't think I needed to pay for extra due to the size of the container. Hoping this was a one off issue. Service is still great. read more

We stumbled into Adamson's looking for bread pudding somewhere in San Jose to enjoy for the Fourth of July They have two locations, the original since 2009 in Sunnyvale, and a recently new one on Bascom Avenue closer to our area. The location is not that far from Valley Med Center and Highway 280. Delighted to find they're open on the 4th, so pre-ordered the night before my brunch, consisting of their showcased prime rib sandwich loaded with onions, cheese and jalapeños, along with their proprietary root beer, and of course the bourbon bread pudding. The pudding to take to a friend later today. Bascom location is on a corner, with plenty of parking on both sides and shaded tables outside. The order system informed me when my order would be ready and notified me when it was done. Outside and inside It's very clean, music playing indoors, and very friendly staff. Tasty jar of pickles which you can also purchase right on the counter. Rootbeer was cold in the cooler by the counter. Menu above the register was very clear and attractive to the eye. Could not wait to get my brunch home, and I was not disappointed. I am a big rootbeer aficionado, so I've tried many vendors and true to form Adamson's rootbeer is unique. Very tasty, with just the right sweet level and correctly carbonated. The sandwich had a flavorful soft roll that encompassed very tender slices of prime rib, perfectly grilled onions, cheese, and jalapeños properly layered in so they did not squeeze out as I proceeded to eat the sandwich. It was accompanied by a side of Au Jus for dipping, which I chose to spoon in and let the juice drip down through the sandwich, which worked really well. What can I say? I inhaled the sandwich. It was extremely good. The rootbeer paired perfectly with it. I will try the bread pudding a bit later today and will add to this review. Needless to say, I will be back soon to try other items on the menu and highly recommend Adamson's! Update, my friend loved the bread pudding. The bourbon flavor was well blended, overall nicely balanced and moist and not sugar forward. Winner! read more

First off - if you saw that they'd be open until 6, that was communicated outward without asking the owners. It was always intended to be open until 2 at this point. The place is small, like the one in Sunnyvale. There were 3 4-tops, 2 2-tops, and a larger table that could seat about 6. Then there were about 5 or 6 tables outside. I didn't see a bathroom. The menu is about the same as Sunnyvale except for anything fried. At least right now. The kitchen area seemed smaller, so maybe they couldn't get the required size hood vent that's needed for deep frying. They had a good assortment of chips. You could get bottled water, unsweetened iced tea, and Coca-Cola in glass bottles. There were a few other things and a fountain for other sodas. And of course, their root beer. It was loud, but not obnoxiously so. The people who sat outside seemed content. And good for them. Hubby thinks anything under 80F is cold so I rarely get al fresco. I'm still giving it 5 stars because the sandwiches are incredible. The meat is perfect and tender, and I didn't have any fat on mine, so I'm not sure if the other reviewer who complained about fat was at a different place. Also, Adamson's, like most good BBQ places, is always "until we run out." I've been fortunate in that every time I went to either place, even close to 2, they haven't run out. I believe this place is targeting takeout and delivery services. The parking isn't great. I had to park down the street in the residential area. The two spots in the front are 10 minutes only, and I wanted to leave them open for the delivery services to run in, grab and go. There are 3 spots (4 if you do like one guy did and park in front of the garbage....) along the side. Hubby & I always get the French Dip with horseradish. It was strong this last time! A little dab will do. The bread was so fresh. It was a delight. I had half of my sandwich left over, and my husband ate it for lunch the next day. I may forgive him. I'd been to the one in Sunnyvale a few times, so I was eager to try the new location in Campbell. The sandwiches were, of course, the same. If you like the food in Sunnyvale, you won't be disappointed in Campbell. I do not think they are a good value, not really 15 dollars' worth of sandwich, but I know it's getting pricey for Restaurants to exist right now. For our budget though, this was not a good value for us. The Root Beer, on the other hand, IS 4$ worth of Root Beer. Totally worth it, as always. The Employees were a little rushed, friendly for sure, but still maybe working out the kinks in the new location. There seemed to be a to go order causing a slow down right before our order, so we had a little bit of a wait for ours. The main issues I had were -The parking lot was insanely annoying if you need the ADA spot (which we do) -There was not really enough room inside. It was PACKED with people taking up tables while they WAITED for food, some to go, some for eat in. There are some tables outside, so I guess they know they have a space problem. Hopefully that will work itself out once they've been open for a while and the crowds have evened out. The food was good, but very pricey for a place where you can't trust you'll be able to sit or get your food quickly. The Root Beer is excellent. I say grab a Root Beer to go. read more

Two of us had lunch here recently. We both had the Melt Dip. It was good, but maybe a bit too much gristle in the meat. We could not get clean bites without running into some of those tough strands. However, the flavor of the meat was good and so was the au jus. We also had their house root beer - that was very good. Biggest disappointment was that they did not have fries. The other location does. Service was fine. Seating was limited, but the space is very new and clean. They also sell their root beer in bottles to take home. It's a bit pricey. read more

We shared the Prime French dip with horseradish, potato salad, on tap root beer and finished with the bread pudding. The root beer is fantastic I recommend getting on tap in an ice cold glass. The drink freezes on the sides like a slushie floating on top. The potato salad is good. The only complaint I have is a $20 dollar sandwich should have more meat. The prime rib is excellent and thin sliced and the broth is good but the meat doesn't make it to the end of the bread. read more

A very good Original French Sip sandwich, to be sure. Very tender and juicy. Be sure to ask for the horseradish, too! Some may find the need for more au jus, so please know that there is an extra charge for more au jus. The Root Beer is decent, as well. Limited seating inside and out, but this tiny shop appears to be meant for takeout, even though it is street parking only for the most part. It's in an obscure location, but if you're anywhere in the area, it's definitely worth a stop. read more

This is a new dining location on the South Bascom strip. My coworker and I checked it out last week. There are outdoor and indoor dining tables. The outdoor tables have umbrellas which is very convenient. Parking is limited. The menu isn't too big and there's something for everyone. We got the French dip, root beer and pickle. We would have gotten the bread pudding but will get it on our next trip. Another customer in line recommended getting the bread pudding. The root beer came in glass mugs and was perfect for the warm weather. It wasn't too syrupy and had good carbonation. The staff calls out your number and the wait wasn't too long. While waiting, we saw more and more people coming in. The French dip was a great size for the price. The bread was pillowy but still had a bite to it. The meat was tender, not too fatty and sliced well. The au jus wasn't too salty and the container it came in was perfect for the size of sandwich. The pickle wasn't too acidic and had a nice crunch. They also offer sliced pickles but I opted to get the whole pickle for $1.50. Definitely coming back here to try their other sides. read more

As long-time Sunnyvale customers, we decided to try this new location today. Low score is based on: (1) The prime rib slices in our sandwiches were very, very tough. Why? All slices were cut along the grain, not against the grain. PLEASE TRAIN YOUR STAFF TO SLICE THE BEEF AGAINST THE GRAIN!!! (2) The menu had no French Fries or Onion Rings. If you want fries, McDonald's, across the street, has them. Overall, IMHO, the Sunnyvale location will continue to be our go-to location. It offers more menu choices and they know how to slice the beef against the grain so it's always super tender. read more

Delicious and hearty sandwiches! Tried Adamson's for the first time today and ordered the following for take out: -Original Dip: my favorite! Tender beef and perfectly seasoned au jus. -Melt Dip: Unfortunately did not have the grilled onions as advertised, would have made the sandwich much better. -Prime Rib Dip: great but a bit too soft for my taste, creating a monotone eating experience. -Bourbon Bread Pudding and Ice Cream: love it! Not overly sweet, has great texture and ice cream pairs very well with it. Their location isn't too great due to the busy street and cramped parking lot with minimal parking spots. Only a handful of tables if you choose to dine in. I would definitely return to try their other sandwiches and for the Original Dip! read more

Man I waited for years to eat there! So I went got the sandwich and a root beer i eat in my car in the parking area so first bite within 3 minutes of hand-off so excited at this point I Dove in to it no dip on 1st bite bread was soft meat was bland and lukewarm at best . So 2nd bite dip it didn't really change from the first bite a little more flavor. I saw a lady who was behind me in line talking up all the sandwiches from them going to her car and I asked her are the sandwiches always lukewarm and tasteless she looked at funny and said it's all about the meat I told her that my food was bland again funny look. I was expecting something great. Because they have been around for a long time? The root beer was fire but the sandwich and the dip not worth my time I bet if the Mexican guys put their seasoning on it then it would be crazy flavor read more

I was happy to hear that Adamson's was coming to my neighborhood as I've always enjoyed the Sunnyvale location. I went today and was disappointed to learn that they do not have the same menu as the other location. No fries, onion rings, or salads and only 3 sandwiches to choose from. While the staff was nice and there was no one in line when I arrived but the team seems disorganized and it took over 15 minutes to receive my order of just one sandwich. I'm hopeful they add more to their menu. Location is very small and there are a few tables but inside gets quite crowded with people waiting. I will say my sandwich was good however, I still think the Sunnyvale location is better. read more
