This is a little spot located right on Boise Ave and I love that it sits along a residential street. I walk past this business almost daily. On weekends it is always busy; this morning, not so much, so I decided to stop in to see if it was going to be my favorite breakfast place. Short version: no, it is not my new favorite. The staff was very friendly and informative.​ I loved how some diners were greeted like old friends; I am guessing they were old friends or perhaps regulars. The restaurant was clean, so I was off to a good start. I had biscuits with sausage gravy with a sausage patty. (eggs were offered with the meal, but I am too picky about my eggs to burden anyone preparing them for me). The gravy was a little sweet for me, but it was creamy and had a velvety​ texture. The biscuits were pretty good; not great, but not bad either. Everyone likes their biscuits differently; dense or light n' fluffy (I like light and fluffy). I will say the biscuits were fresh and they did stand up to the ​generous portion of gravy. The sausage patty was not-so-good for me. I think it was cooked just fine but it just didn't have a great flavor. I like the classic seasoning of breakfast sausage so I picked this offering over their other sausages on the menu. (in hindsight, this was a mistake, I would suggest trying anything else for sausage.) Arrived in a group of three and was greeted, handed menus, and told to pick a table. They then took our drink orders and asked if we were ready to order our food before we had even all sat down. The two waters and Diet Pepsi arrived quickly and said they would be right back. We waited over 25 minutes and decided to leave $4 on the table and head somewhere else. Tables around us had filled up, and received drinks and their orders had been taken. Our waiter was too preoccupied with socializing with other staff and holding the bar counter top from sudden levitation. My husband and I use to go to Addie's all the time when they were at their old location. He loves the pancakes and I love the French toast. Since the locations changed we had not been there until today....The new location is nice and there is a lot of parking. So already, they earn a star. We sat outside, which was also nice. Our server was very friendly and quick to get our drinks. The only problem was we waited a long time for our food and when it came out I got very sad looking French toast and my husband got delicious looking pancakes (this is why I gave them 3 stars). Only one because zero isn't possible. So here's a somewhat vintage story circa 2007. Michael Deeds' Idaho Statesman Article basically indicating this dump is moving because it can't pay rent reminded me of my opinion of Addies and is based on the story of last time i ate here. For all you Addie's aficionados out there, consider this: Ordered breakfast, food came out, and staring up from the white of an egg is a BIG BLACK CURLY hair (yeah one of them frumunda curlies) on companion's over easy greasy egg. So.... call servers attention and point out offending BIG BLACK CURLY; server states, "well no one that works here has curly black hair".... gulp. Go ahead and order those over easy eggs and enjoy! When they're curly and when they're black they contrast against the egg whites and will be obvious. Haven't been there in over 10 years, wouldn't recommend, wouldn't go back. The wait was about 20 minutes. Once seated, service was pretty slow but to their defense, they were busy. I guess that I've been accustomed to the fast service, fast coffee and get going. This was not the case. The coffee was luke warm 2 times but 3rd coffee was hot. I believe it's a family owned place because there were a few teens working the tables. Biggest prop goes out to the two chefs. They were busting their chops to get the food ready and served hot. I eat at this establishment and have continued to do so from the moment I moved to Boise almost three years ago. The ownership takes care of its regulars like family and those that come in casually feel like regulars. You won't find a better deal on mimosas for an early afternoon brunch in the state of Idaho. Although I use Yelp pretty regularly to find new restaurants to eat I don't review them because most of my experiences are usually good enough to not warrant my effort and time to write a review. In this case I'm definitely going to take some time. For starters there was no wait time which is normally a good sign. But instead of being seated, the staff member handed me 4 menus and said go grab a seat outside. Approx. 10 min later a very large group (15 people) arrived. Their orders were taken before ours. 40 min later or food was served. 2 plates had hair on them. Missing 2 orange juices (that ended up on our ticket) missing toast and an extra egg. While the food was good, this was one of the worse experiences I've encountered and will not return and I suggest you don't either. read more

So glad to have Addie's at 1221 Boise Avenue! It has its own parking lot and lots of on street parking and is an easy walk from BSU. Lots of indoor and a few outdoor tables. I have been passing by this little restaurant every week to go to work and finally decided to give it a try. I went with a family member and the environment was great, very homey. Reminds me of sunrise cafe or the griddle. I went a bit boring and order biscuits (no gravy) and some scrambled eggs while my guest ordered the french toast with bacon. She also got coffee. Was the food good? Yes. Was it ultra-amazing-cant-believe-ive-never-been-here-before good? Not really. Pretty average for diner food. I ordered the biscuits no gravy and was surprised to only get one biscuit split in half when I expected two. They were nice and dense though. The real trouble was the bill. Not only do they charge almost 2.50 for coffee but charged my mom 4.25 for bacon! What a lively crew! Heidi kept us all laughing as we enjoyed the down home breakfast eats. Cozy Boise landmark with seasoned hardwood floors and colorfully painted windows to keep the place full of classic cheer. ..and with the cold weather just around the corner, we're going to need it! Hannah, brought the energy and worked masterfully along side the owner, the busser, and communicated well with the kitchen crew! Great place to come in and have a comfortable conversation among what feels like a room full of friends. The food was plentiful to say the least! Cons: The gravy lacked flavor and wasn't thin enough to penetrate the stale biscuit. The only reason we came to this place is because we wanted to sit out on their patio for a nice little breakfast we had never tried before. Contrary to what we hoped for it is well below average . I wouldn't say it's the Grossest restaurant in the world but the Filthy tables outside with flies everywhere and random bowls of water on the ground were a very obvious indication of one . When I asked if our waiter could please wipe the dirty table down he used what looked like a used dirty rag that had holes in it and hadn't seen a drop of disinfectant , soap , nor water . The water here served in outdated melamine cups tasted like it came straight out of an old elementary school drinking fountain . Basically like a mouth full of nickels with every flinching sip . Not to mention disgusting ass food that came after and service on the very slow side . I truly cannot think of a worse place at the moment . . read more

We sat for 30 minutes before I had to ask someone to take my order. Flies outside and worse inside we're horrible. Felt like a bunch of "Bros" rolled outta bed to start a restaurant. What a charming little weekend brunch spot! I was just in town visiting so I've been only once but Addie's was just what I needed before heading off the the airport. This casual little diner/cafe appeared to be chock-full of regulars. The staff seemed to know just about everyone and were quick to warmly welcome us into their space and outfit us with menus and a table. Along the walls you can find booths that fit about 4-6 people and then in the middle of the space there were plenty more 2 and 4 tops. No wait to sit down on a Saturday before noon? Perfect! We chose a booth and just as we sat someone popped by to take our drink order. Coffee came fast and in the 40 or so mins we were there we'd had multiple staff visit our table to top us off. I loved that the servers tag team here and basically work the room together to make sure that everyone's needs are met. The menu is really extensive! So much so that I needed a few more mins to decide what to eat. In addition to class savory breakfast dishes (eggs, toast, omelets, etc) they also have sweet dishes (pancakes, waffles) and even sandwiches for people wanting more typical midday/lunch type offerings. I went with the breakfast burrito with sausage and was extremely happy with my choice. This was unlike any breakfast burrito I'd ever had! Though it didn't really have any flavor of seasons or salt/pepper, it came with a side of salsa and sour cream. Inside the absolutely massive burrito they'd somehow beautifully folded in thin-cut soft potatoes and a sheet of egg. So it wasn't lumpy or chopped ingredients, they were all folded neatly in sheets. It was like a work of art to see this thing come together! And tucked inside among the other ingredients were the pieces of delicious breakfast sausage. No veggies, but that worked because I added both the sour cream and salsa to mine to pack in some more flavor. Prices were reasonable, service was prompt and friendly, and the location was great because there was a small lot out front and also street parking around the corner. On a hot day we didn't have to walk far to pop in and they had the AC running so it was much cooler inside than out. There's also a large patio to take advantage of on days that aren't so warm. No one smiled, very disorganized. Employee sayings on the chalk board, "You be mean to me, I'll be mean to you" . Wow, what a great customer service slogan! You'll be winning over customers with that! They were out of several menu items, but it took them 20 minutes to come back and state, "we are out of that" Reordered, they brought the new order, which was wrong, and the other order wasn't ready. I love Addie's. The first time I visited, around 4 years ago, was a fluke--Goldie's had a way long line. My nephew was in town and we were starved so I suggested Addie's. What a great time we had! Excellent food, fun & quirky wait staff and great homey atmosphere. Though I enjoyed Goldie's back then, I have only been back to Goldie's one time in 4 years. Addie's is my go-to place. Dining at this restaurant awoke me from my yelp-ernation. I also had an awful experience - the food was inedible. The thuggish guy that gave us our silverware/water refused to set them in front of us - they were placed at the end of the table, and we had to reach over to get them. He mumbled something about being out of juice, then brought the wrong juice out, then said he would go make some juice... We ordered french toast & biscuits & gravy. The biscuits & gravy were totally awful. When the waitress brought them out, she exclaimed 'I hope you're hungry!' as she placed the huge plate of yellow gravy in front of me. The biscuits were stale & cold, and the gravy tasted like it had been made from polish sausage instead of breakfast sausage. One person in our party said the french toast was bad too, but I think she just felt sorry for us since our biscuits and gravy was so terrible and knew we'd need to go to another restaurant so we could order something we could actually eat. The waitress never asked how our meal was, just brought us the check. So apparently either the staff have no training whatsoever, or are afraid of asking customers how their meals were because they know they're so bad. read more

What a tasty treat! I've heard mixed reviews about this place and decided to finally try it. I ordered the corned beef hash skillet meal and was not disappointed! There was plenty of veggies and meat included, and everything was cooked to perfection - not too soft and squishy or hard and undercooked, but just right.. They also had a ton of menu options for both breakfast and lunch with the prices ranging from pretty inexpensive to moderately priced. Nothing seemed like it costed "too much," which is great! The service was quick and friendly from a hipster guy who kept up with refilling drinks and being available despite there being a fair amount of tables filled. There's nothing my hubby and I enjoy more than a good breakfast...and unfortunately, Addie's did NOT deliver. We stopped in here on a whim - we didn't want to wait 45 minutes to get a table at Goldy's, so we were pleasantly surprised to walk in here and be seated right away (that should've been our first warning). We sat, ignored, for about 5 minutes before a server came to our table acting surprised that we didn't have silverware or water yet. We ordered (chicken fried steak for me, chorizo and eggs for him), and got our order within 5 minutes. The chicken-fried steak looked homemade and was okay, as were the eggs and sausage, but then there was...the gravy. Who in the WORLD puts Italian sausage (think pizza sausage) in white breakfast gravy? That, along with the overwhelming taste/feel of bacon fat made this gravy one of the worst things I've ever attempted to eat. During the meal, I had to wave someone down to get a refill on my coffee, and the busser tried to take my husband's plate while he was still eating. We're used to getting subpar service (we both work in the industry, so we expect the same service that we give to our customers) - but we can't ignore bad food. We won't be back. read more

I've been there twice and both times the service is scattered and slow. The first time we got the biscuits and gravy. It tasted like clam chowder.... DEFINITELY avoid them. The next time my 2 eggs, hashbrowns and toast was okay. Eggs and hashbrowns were good, but the toast hardly had any butter on it which was a disappointing.
