We went here for our second wedding anniversary while visiting Dallas. The food was four stars alone but the staff and ambiance made this a five star experience. We felt so special and well taken care of and were able to enjoy our meal in a relaxed manner. None of the staff had name tags otherwise I would name them all. The lady at the hostess station was very welcoming and wished us a happy anniversary as soon as we stepped in the door and again as we were leaving. The male waiter (I believe he was gay) was super friendly and stopped by our table to compliment my tattoos. Our waiter was an older Italian gentleman who was very attentive and went out of his way to explain the menu and make sure we had everything we needed. The male bartender stopped by our table personally to ask how I liked my espresso martini (which was hands down one of the best espresso martinis I've ever had). The fresh bread was yummy and the Cesar salads were very fresh and had homemade croutons. My lobster bisque was so good, creamy, and full of flavor. My husband got the meatball appetizer which was almost an entree in and of itself as it came with pasta too. The meatballs were definitely homemade and were full of flavor but were super crumbly and kept falling apart. My lasagna was amazing and my husband said the beef ravioli was good too. We were totally stuffed after our entrees but the wait staff brought out a complimentary piece of bread pudding that was served with vanilla ice-cream, caramel sauce and fresh strawberries to celebrate or anniversary. It was some of the best bread pudding I've had. We then got cannoli and tiramisu to go which we enjoyed the next day. When we opened the to go containers we were pleasantly surprised to see that great effort had been put into the presentation of even the to go desserts. What a wonderful spot for an evening out! We were personally waited on by the owner, Adelmo, which made the experience even more special. The food was outstanding, my spouse raved about the beef ravioli with Jimmy's sausage, the rigatoni bolognese was rich and savory, and our son said the chicken fettuccine Alfredo was the best he's ever had. Adelmo's gave me a sense of nostalgia. Late 80's/90's upscale feels. The clientele looked as though they've been coming for years. Although it started off quiet, the dining room sparse of patrons, it quickly filled up. The waitstaff was very attentive and seemed to know their clientele by name. Who doesn't enjoy that? The cocktails were well made. So let's move to the food. Italian. When it comes to Italian food I'm extremely picky. It was good, but not great. I love true Northern Italian dishes or Northeastern (Boston down to New Jersey) Italian-American dishes. Adelmos was 'Italian in Dallas' good, I'd hoped for more. If I had to speculate, they once put the effort into their dishes to ensure authenticity, but have since cut corners. I did love the overall feel, and the service. Perhaps I will venture back to give it another go. I think Dallasites should give it a go though and form their own opinion. read more

Life has been so busy lately and I am remiss in not posting this earlier. We LOVE Adelmo's Ristorante! It's always an event for us like a birthday or anniversary. This year it was our anniversary earlier in June. Even though it's been a few weeks (of travel - look for my other reviews from around the country and Europe), the evening at Aldemo's was memorable for all the right The restaurant was quiet since there was an NBA playoff game on, but that just allowed us to have extra attention and service. The service, as always, was impeccable. The vibe is always classy, and I always feel special dining at Adelmo's. Dinner was exquisite. Flavorful and filling without feeling stuffed. Bread is de rigueur. I don't eat it, but my husband enjoyed it immensely. Same with his meatball appetizer which was a special. I stayed gluten free and the staff took extra care to make sure I was safe from shell fish and soy. They were so mindful about the gluten that when I started to take a bite of something off my husband's plate, they cautioned me that I did not have that on my plate because of my dietary restrictions. My husband enjoyed the sea bass special and I had the salmon which was cooked to perfection. As I said, my sides were different than the menu but just as, if not more, delicious. Everything always goes well at Adelmos. The food is delicious regardless of what your choose. Tonight I had the chicken Marsala and it was perfectly prepared and the chicken was not overcooked. The service was perfect. Iced tea glasses and water glass were kept full additional items liked butter were delivered without a delay or hesitation. What I enjoy as much as the food is the ambiance. It's not noisy like most other restaurants in Dallas you can actually can here conversations. The table was kept clean, attention was consistently focused on us. We've been going to Adelmo's for years and it is consistently excellent. This is the type of restaurant where they learn your name and greet you each time like an old friend. I had such high hopes for this place! That is why it is a 3 star review. I was expecting deep and rich flavors however I realized that the food is not that seasoned and the sauces were the best things on our plates. I know it seems harsh but it wasn't terrible, the fried Calamari was delicious and the marinara to dip it in was great! The wine selections was good and the service was great but I just couldn't get passed the unseasoned pasta and meat. Again the staff was so nice and I'm not bashing the place but I have to call it like it is. Just be prepared or if you like less seasoned food then this is the place for you. read more

The food was just ok. Nothing to rave about. We were given complimentary bread and pickled vegetables. The table started off with the calamari fritti and stuffed mushrooms. Both dishes were not memorable but not bad. I did like the sauces for the calamari. After this, our entrees took over an hour to come out. I tried to be understanding bc we're in a pandemic, but at 50% occupancy I was a bit confused. I had the Lobster ravioli with scallops & shrimp in saffron cream. You get 3 large ravioli which are fully stuffed. However, there wasn't much flavor both inside and in the sauce. I couldn't taste any saffron.. just cream and Parmesan. It was our first time dining here and we chose Christmas Eve. We love authentic Italian food made by Italians. The owner was so friendly. John, our server, was outstanding. My husband had the osso buco and I had one of the specials- seafood pasta. Both dishes were delicious. We also had the bread pudding and tiramisu. I preferred the tiramisu as authentic. Stopped by Adelmo's for a work dinner a few months ago and the food and service were both pretty solid! We ordered drinks and apps for the table first; the escargot was rather salty and I wish the toasted bread that it came with hadn't been burnt in places, but the flavor wasn't bad. The calamari was solid, as was the garlic shrimp. I enjoyed that each entree came with a bit of salad so that we could say we ate our vegetables! I ordered the shrimp and lobster ravioli which was generously portioned; the flavor was excellent and the ravioli were truly stuffed to the brim. I was so full from the appetizers that I ended up packing half of it to-go, and they were still delicious as leftovers the next day! The ambience of the place was very upscale and our waiters were pretty prompt about refilling water and checking back to see if we needed anything. I don't know that I would return again because it's pretty pricey, but as far as work dinners go I can't complain! read more

Truth be told, when it comes to dining out, I have a deep rotational list of joints that normally come into play when I have a hankering to let someone else do the cooking. I'd venture to say that my unwritten list of tried and true, go-to places that I draw from is somewhere around 50 eateries. Don't get me wrong....I do like to explore the new and the uncharted, but I do it more sparingly these days than I did a decade or two ago. Suffice it to say that I lean toward places where I know the food will be good, the menu varied and creative, and the service fail safe. And among that list of fifty or so restaurants, there's perhaps ten places that have earned a position of honor; that is, places so comfortable, reliable, and true that I tend to pop in for a meal every few weeks. Adelmo's has been on the hallowed list for a number of years. I've been walking through their doors on a repetitive basis for over twenty-five years, back when they were located in the Knox-Henderson area of town. These days, Adelmo's is in Inwood Village. The menu has a varied selection of Italian favorites which are attractively priced and consistently prepared. You'll find the ambience pleasant and the crowd generally well-behaved. The wait staff are pro's who will never let you down in getting the service you deserve. Reservation times are generally available; thus, you won't need to book weeks in advance. And while I can't opine on their recent operations, a moving picture show at the Inwood Theatre is a short walk away. And who knows, based on the number of times I'm at Adelmo's enjoying Shrimp Capellini or the Chicken Milanese, you might even bump into me. I grew up in Dallas and not sure how I never knew about this place until now. By far one of the best Italian restaurants in the city. I appreciate a small and more intimate type of restaurant and Adelmo's is just that. The staff and service are impeccable. And the food! My first impression, and then my second impression, of this place was NOT good. My wife and I were driving in from out of town and had made reservations for 8:00pm and we had gotten stuck in traffic and were running late. So I called, 20 minutes before my reservation as asked to change my reservation to 8:30pm - if possible. And explained that if it wasn't possible that I understood. The lady that had answered the phone was audibly annoyed by this. However, she changed it to 8:30, so my wife and I continued to the restaurant. As we walked-in there was a short, older gentleman that was manning the hostess station. I believe later he was the person that was pointed out as the owner of the restaurant. He "greeted" us, with a scowl, and grumbled something about a reservation. I said we did have a reservation, then I stumbled as I tried to remember the exact time, since It had been changed, and he just got annoyed and cocked his head and literally waved his hand at me to seemingly "hurry up" and just give him my name. Apparently customers annoy him! However, after we were seated, things took a turn for the better. Our Server was Christopher C. and Christopher is a pro at serving. He knew his menu, he knew his wines. He knew his audience. Throughout the meal we took Christopher's suggestions on the appetizers, the main courses, the wine and the dessert. Everything was SPOT-ON. First time diners at Adelmo's. Found on Yelp, searching by location after Painting with a Twist. The restaurant socially distanced people and everything seemed clean and fresh. Service was pretty friendly and attentive (Kristi and the person bringing water and bread did a good job). Bread smelled like freshly baked Italian bread, but we all thought disappointing with its lack of flavor. Good cocktail list. Enjoyed the Old Fashion with Rye and Chianti by the glass. The sautéed calamari and shrimp appetizer in marinara was unique and very good. Shrimp were large and cooked perfectly. Thought the prices were ok, but a bit on the high side for what we received. For example, a $4.50 upcharge for Caesar over the house salad was ridiculous, especially given the mediocre and small Caesar salad received. Should have probably been a $1 reduction vs. an upcharge. Just the principle of it. Hope they fix that or make a better Caesar. Tortellini Boscaiolla was definitely enjoyed by my wife, although she was unable to finish it. I thought the cream sauce was way too thin, but she was ok with it. The Lobster Ravioli with scallops and shrimp was very good (a good lobster flavor that you don't always get with Lobster Ravioli ordered in other restaurants), but a pretty small portion with only 3 raviolis (should have been 4 ravioli if $35 we thought). I had the veal chop. It was a little fatty, but was cooked to perfection (MR), and had a good flavor. You get the option of 3 sauces. I tried the rosemary with lots of roasted garlic cloves. Wasn't a big fan of my sauce selection, as it didn't add much to the flavor in my opinion being added on top after cooking, so would suggest one of the others to try. No room for desert on this trip. Attended a birthday party this weekend that was outstanding. We were greeted at the door and led to the private room. When we walked in our drink order was taken and there was a couple of cold appetizers on the table. After we all sat down, the food kept coming. From calamari, meatballs, garlic shrimp, mussels, some of the best bruschetta I have ever tasted and stuffed mushrooms, all were served hot and delicious. Afterwards we all ordered entrees. I just had a house salad since I was full from the appetizers. The tomatoes on the salad were outstanding. Others around me ordered entrees that looked and smelled delicious. Several desserts were ordered. I had a bite of bread pudding that if I had any room, I would have definitely ordered my own. The service the entire time was outstanding. Not once did we have to ask for anything. The wine and water flowed. I would highly recommend this place to anyone for a party or family gathering. This place has the best service! It was a very homey vibe as soon as I walked in. A lot of the customers seemed to be regulars and were older in age (my boyfriend and I were probably the only people under 30 in the restaurant). The hostess and waitress were so friendly and nice! They started us off with some warm, fresh out of the oven bread and veggies. The bread was so soft and the outside of the bread was so crunchy!! We ordered a tomato and eggplant soup (soup of the day) and a minestrone soup. They were both super delicious, and my soup was especially filling. The entrees also come with salads, and the meal portions were also big. By the time my chicken Milanese came, I was so full I could only eat a quarter of it. We were also celebrating my boyfriend's birthday, which I had noted when I made the opentable reservation. When we walked in, the hostess immediately asked whose birthday it was. The hostess even told the waitress, who brought out a cake and candle for him. It was so lovely how they made him feel so special. We would love to dine here again. Very disappointed in our dinner selections. Rabbit was very dry and the only discernible taste was tomato paste. Rabbit was hardly touched and when asked why we explained it was dry. This Italian restaurant was such a hidden gem. Went for dinner and loved the ambiance- quite, relaxing, upscale Italian. The staff was great, attentive, and friendly. The inside was small and cozy. For an appetizer, we got the calamari, which had a unique take on traditional fried calamari. It was chewy and not my favorite and the marinara sauce was a little overwhelming. My fiancé got the Tagliatelle Bolognese and loved it. I got the Tortellini and it was heavenly; the prosciutto was cooked perfect, as was the pasta- wonderful combination. Each one of my co-workers were very disappointed with their meals as they were bland and not worth the calorie consumption. I had great intrigue about the place, especially since I received a lot of feedback (friends and also online) about it. Honestly, living in Coppell, is a kind of long way for me, but I was all by myself, couple of Saturday's back and I decided to do the drive and try Adelmo's for the first time. As you see, I said couple of weeks ago. Yes, I took my time to review this place, as I wanted to take my time to review it. Let's go to the important part. I transposed the door and I saw a very cozy environment with the bar just in front of me (tip for you guys, if you want to look good with your date, this is the place, don't look anymore). Tending the bar, I saw a person who I can relate to my Grandma, that gave me the idea I'm in the right place (anyway I wish my Grandma would pour me those generous drinks, this lady did). The lady was really attentive, but I noticed she had too much stuff to handle by herself, so if you sit at the bar, just be patient. I ordered a glass of Nebbiolo, and I decided to start with a plate of Prosciutto di Parma. One thing I do not got, and have to ask for, was for the bread service. I am not sure if it is a policy of the house but, in Italy we have a saying, 2 full bread orders, a bottle of wine and the bill, and we ask if it is not "too much bread". Let's proceed. The prosciutto was really good. Nice slices and plenty (I had been in places where the slices seemed to be cut with a laser tool). I figured out, we started with the right foot. For my second course, I decided to go with Beef Ravioli. I am not sure if I understood the menu wrong or I simply got the wrong plate. I was presented a generous plate of ravioli, but completely drowned in meat sauce. I started moving the sauce around and I saw, as I mentioned, a generous amount of ravioli (normally in places of the same class, you get 4 or 5 pieces, here there were at least two more). I cut one of them just to discovered, they were filled with cheese not meat as the menu cites. The cooking point was right for 'pasta al dente' (Italian way, please don't come to me with emails saying that's undercook), and honestly, they were great. Only drawback is the amount of sauce on them (I am not kidding when I said it was drowned, literally the raviolis were buried in sauce). Nevertheless, the sauce was good, so I finish my raviolis and got some of the sauce on top of pieces of bread (I couldn't pass on that). After all, I ordered a glass of prosecco, and I was struggling to pick one of the desserts. They all sounded so good! I decided for the Bread Pudding. Oh my... guys, it reminded me the ones I used to have back in my days as a kid. Let me explain. It is not easy to make the texture of a good bread pudding right. Most chefs (or cooks), tend to make it like a variation of a French toast, nothing more far away than that. I munched my pudding, finish my drink, sign the bill and leave, as I discovered I've been sitting there for almost 2 hours, and I was the last one left in the place. Conclusion, except for the "confusion" (I will say it was a mistake in the kitchen) of the beef ravioli and the excessive sauce, my meal was amazing. Recommend the place? HELL YES!! Next time I am going to go for a more elaborated plate, instead of pasta, and I will write again my experience. In the meantime, sit down and enjoy! read more

After researching top-rated restaurants to celebrate my 50th birthday, my husband chose Adelmo's. We were not disappointed. We had reservations and were immediately taken to our table. Bread and marinated vegetables were brought to us. Jeffrey was our friendly and helpful waiter. The food was SO good!! Escargot, a favorite appetizer of ours, was served atop bread and a sauce with a hint of absinthe... quite tasty. Both entrees were served with lightly-dressed fresh green salads. I enjoyed the lobster ravioli in a saffron sauce with shrimp and scallops. The dish was delicious. Halotus raved that the lasagna was the best he'd ever had... and that included his signature homemade dish! Jeffrey then treated us to a melt-in-your-mouth bread pudding with a candle. Adelmo and his wife were enjoying an evening at home leaving the chef duties to their son and the front of house in the hands of their daughter. The welcome was a little hesitant but the rest of the afternoon was delightful! Our server Maisey was attentive and sweet. We had three appetizers that were outstanding. The arugula salad with sliced Spanish octopus, white anchovies, avocado, cannelloni beans and hearts of palm was refreshing as was the burrata with tomatoes and pesto. The truffle pate with fig preserves and freshly baked bread was perfection!!! We followed it up with the creme brûlée to top off a fantastic meal!
