    1/2 portion puttanesca

My sister's last night so decided to dine out. Was going to go to Enoteca but decided to go somewhere closer and found MoMo. I selected outdoor dining since the a/c is always so cold and it was perfect with the weather. We ordered drinks... Cab and blood orange marguerita and both were delish though quite pricey. Bruschetta as appetizer was a good choice but forgot to take photo. My sister and I split the puttanesa which was perfect, portion-wise, and it was delish. My husband had the lasagna which was a huge portion but he said it was good. When the bill came, I noticed we were charged for a pizza we did not order so that was a bit annoying. If not for the price of the drinks and the additional item on the bill, I may have given 5 stars. Nevertheless, this is a must try restaurant!

We tried this place for dinner recently and it was ok. They have a decent amount of tables in the dining room and a separate bar area. The staff were friendly. The food was delicious. My daughter enjoyed her Alfredo noodles. My wife liked her chicken dish. The maccheroni alla vesuviana was great. Large portion sizes to match the price. The service was slow, but we'll try this place again in case they were having an off night.

My husband loves Italian food, and this restaurant was rated as one of the top Italian Restaurants here in Dallas, so that just means we gotta check it out ;) The food here was so DELICIOUS. Every ingredient tasted freshly prepared. My favorites were the calamari and the gnocchi alla salsiccia. The fried calamari had a sweet chili tomato sauce that tasted phenomenal with the lightly panko dusted calamari. The gnocchi was so tender, and the red sauce was great. The MoMo Italian iced tea was so delicious! I wish I can get a gallon to go! It was my husband's birthday, so the restaurant gave us a complimentary dessert! It was such a sweet gesture! We sat on the patio! The night was in the low 80s, and they had the fans going. The tables were clean, and the patio was quiet enough for us to converse comfortably! Service was a bit slow though. FYI!

My friends and I had the best time here this past weekend. I never would have imagined this restaurant existed on Forest Lane, in an old ass strip mall, but here it lies. This place is not to be confused with the other Momos not too far down the street - they are not amicable (and for good reasons it seems). My friends and I had reservations for Friday night and were sat on the bar side of the restaurant. When we left the restaurant we saw that the other side was cozier with a fireplace. We deemed that the "date side" and the bar area the "friend side". There is also a spacious patio where you could sit and forget that you are facing a parking lot. This place is cute! The meal is obviously the most important part, and the three of us had the hardest time trying to decide what to order. One of the owners, Wende, came over and I should have known better to ask her what her favorite dishes were. She told us about all of them (and there were a lot) with great detail and passion that it threw more choices in our minds making the decision that much more difficult. We started with salads. I had the beet salad. I loved it so much I don't even remember the salads my friends had. For my entree I ordered the pappardelle bolognese. OMG! To die for. The pasta is made in house and it is obvious that it is - so fresh. The sauce and the meat were both flavorful and I was so happy I had the leftovers tonight. Yummy! The owners of this restaurant are a delightful couple, and you can tell they love what they do! The chef is really nice and gave us some insight to the recipes that had been with the restaurant for 40+ years. You know it's a good night, and a good experience, when you spend over two hours eating and chatting and not drinking anything other than tea and water. I can not recommend this place enough! They just launched a spring menu that includes about 8 new dishes that all sounded good. I think my 2023 goal should be to try every dish on the menu and just live on a treadmill to burn off all the carbs.

My boyfriend and I went here for dinner once and we were very impressed! Service was nice and pretty prompt, although our main courses took almost 30 minutes to get out even though we got there before it had fully hit the rush. The food was fantastic though: we couldn't get enough of our entrees, and the desserts were impeccable! Atmosphere was only mid, but it's not enough to deduct a star from such a great Italian restaurant! I can't recommend this place enough, just make sure to book a reservation if dining with more than 2 people!

I don't want to tell you how great this place is, because then the secret will be out. However, I must do what I have to do. Momo Italian Kitchen is a must visit type of place. This place is literally a unexpected food oasis for this part of town. Their patio is spacious and has a level of privacy that you don't expect being close to a busy street. The decor of Momo is very pleasant and comfortable. Both sides of the restaurant is well balanced with lighting to match your relaxed vibe. If you enjoy authentic Italian, The menu is one that you will enjoy. We had one of the owners go thru the menu for us and we also had our server do the same. If I tell you that we had a tough time making a decision... we had a difficult time. But choices were made and we owned them. Momo makes all of their pasta in house, which is delightful and it makes a difference when it comes to quality Italian food. The meal was delicious. Did I mention delicious. Even the tiramisu is made fresh in house and it's worth ordering without sharing with your two friends, as I did. Honestly, the pictures don't do the food justice. Momo is a perfect place for date night or a special occasion. It was a great experience. Ambiance: Chefs kiss Cocktails: They offer non alcohol beverages. Their wine list is worth exploring. Parking: Spacious parking lot. Uber if you're planning on a bottle or two of wine.

Go enjoy Fresh, Northern Italian dishes. We ordered their beet salad, the summer special, a ravioli type dish with velvety sauce and side of spinach & lasagna. It was delicious ! Service was friendly but just ok. Manager was super!! Quaint atmosphere

Ask the Community - MoMo Italian Kitchen - Lake Highlands

Do you offer gluten-free pasta options?

Yes we have a gluten free penne that can be substituted in most dishes, a couple of sauces have flour and would not be gluten free even with the gluten free pasta, we also have a gluten free pizza crust

Are you still a BYOB restaurant?

Not BYOB anymore. Great wine list and beer selections and they just got their liquor license.

Is this place BYOB? I went like 3 years ago and am wondering if it's still byob.

Hi thank you for reaching out, since you were in last we have added a great wine and beer and wonderful vermouth cocktail list with some of the fairest pricing in Dallas. We are still allowing wine to be brought in.

The meatballs were very succulent, bathed in a tomato gravy that you'd want to lick every drop of from the plate. For our main course, we ordered the Cacio e Pepe, Spicy Gemelli, Pesto Rigatoni, and Bolognese--all were phenomenal. Then, to cap things off, we had a dreamy gelato, with a cloud of whipped cream, topped with pistachio and drizzled with olive oil. Service: Great! What you'd expect from an upscale restaurant. I don't care for a lot of meat sometimes so I wouldn't have ordered it as my main but it really complimented the spicy gemelli - perhaps going halfsies would have been a nice option. Service was attentive and our dishes came out fast, we sat indoors beside the bar but the patio could have been a really nice option if you're a patio person. I typically am not. I have yet to find a Dallas Italian spot that I love more than my current no.1 back home (Donna's on Sunset in LA) but this meal was delish and I wouldn't rule out dining here again in the future.

But what really made the experience unforgettable was our server, Leigh. She went above and beyond in every way possible. She didn't just explain the menu- she told a story. From the background of the owner to the details of each dish, you could tell how much care and passion went into everything. She checked in at all the right moments, made sure we had everything we needed, and genuinely cared that we loved each bite. And the food... wow. It transported me to Italy. We started with the arugula salad with bresaola dressed with lemon - super refreshing - paired with the arancini. The bread dipped in the sauce was insane: perfectly crisp on the outside, with rich, flavorful rice inside. We shared the triangoli ravioli stuffed with ricotta and topped with mushroom, hazelnut, and parmesan, and it was incredible. The hazelnut added the perfect crunch and nutty depth. Then came the tagliatelle with wagyu bolognese--perfectly balanced, rich, and made even better with clearly homemade pasta. We finished savory dishes with the veal saltimbocca, and I swear it made me feel like I was sitting in Rome. The sauce was incredible, and the sage really brought everything together. But the true showstoppers? Dessert. My Italian grandma said the cannolo was the best she's ever had - and that says everything. Light, crisp, and not overly sweet. Then the chocolate dessert with olive oil and sea salt... I went in for two bites and somehow finished the entire thing without realizing. Easily the best chocolate dessert I've ever had. This place is out of this world. Would order all of these dishes again. In a city full of restaurants, this is one I will come back to every single time I'm in Dallas. Absolutely 5 stars. Brava.

I visited on a Wednesday evening with a comfortably moderate crowd; on busier nights you may want a reservation. I started with the fried calamari and a glass of wine. Presumably meaning wine, but we were considering cocktails and a bit confused by the question. He said "I'll come back when you're ready," and disappeared for the first of many long absences. From the beginning it felt like we were ruining his life. He was cheerless and curt and wouldn't make eye contact with anyone. It would be more understandable if the restaurant was super busy or understaffed. But this was Monday at 6 pm. We listed a birthday on the reservation, but it wasn't acknowledged. Why bother to ask if we are celebrating? We waited for empty plates and glasses to be cleared between courses. We waited a long time for him to return so we could order a second glass of wine. Even longer for the plates to be cleared and longer still for the opportunity to order dessert...a piece of cake for the birthday girl and two after dinner drinks...but the drinks weren't picked up from the bar when the cake was delivered, and only remembered when we asked for the check. We watched him pick them up (well after the cake was consumed) on his way to leave the bill. No mention that they had been overlooked, no thank you, no good night. This was our first time at Barsotti's and it will be our last. Aside from the awful service, we had issues with the food as well. The veal was pounded paper thin and fried hard resulting in a tough, chewy texture similar to dried beef or jerky. It was dry and overcooked on two different dishes. On a more positive note, we enjoyed the fried ravioli appetizer and the redfish was fine. While our waiter was largely MIA and unpleasant when he did show up, the bus boy/assistant was gracious and attentive. Maybe he was trying to compensate for his colleague. BTW, the offensive employee was in his late 40s to mid 50s with a slight build and salt and pepper hair.
