Best Italian food we had in a long time!! Great service and prices. We will be going back

Probably one of the best ravioli dishes I have had. I don't usually order ravioli dishes because it comes with a few pieces of ravioli and I don't end up full or satisfied. This portion size was generous, and stuffed to the brim with tender, flavorful short rib meat. The ravioli was cooked perfectly and the sauce was just perfection with mushrooms and sundried tomatoes (I think). Service was quick, food was delicious. It's a family owned business and there weren't too many people when I had gone on a Saturday. Maybe because it was at an odd time between lunch and dinner. I definitely do recommend to check out this place if you're a pasta lover. read more

Outstanding food! Perfectly cooked. Bruschetta came on a small pizza crust, which was the lightest crust I've ever had. I had the crab cakes - the best anywhere and I've had 'em in lots of restaurants. My lovely wife had the short rib stuffed ravioli. She said it was superb. The service was very friendly and helpful. Every time I am in the area, I stop in at Joe's (I live 30 miles away). I even make a special trip there on my birthday. Everything I have eaten has been delicious. My favorites are the antipasto and the escargot. Then the little canoles - yummy. I like to get an order to go, but sometimes they don't make it home! Old-school red sauce Italian places are becoming as rare as finding a parking spot downtown, but this place? This place is a gem. Sadly, it was almost empty for lunch on a Thursday (what gives, people?!). I had scoped out the menu while driving by one day and spotted something that immediately caught my East Coast heart: a veal parm sub. Or as we call it back home, a "grinder." Now, I haven't seen a veal parm sub on a menu in 15 years, so naturally, I bookmarked it for lunch the following week like it was a national holiday. We walked in around 12:45, and there was only one other table occupied--perfect for people who enjoy elbow room with their marinara. We were seated right away and ordered the Caesar salad and, of course, the veal parm sub to split. Our waitress/hostess (multi-talented!) brought over warm bread and butter, which I tried so hard to resist, knowing what was coming next. The Caesar salad? It had that perfect homemade dressing with a nice anchovy kick, and the lettuce was crisp enough to hold its own. For $9, it was a huge portion, and honestly, if you threw some chicken on there, it'd make a great lunch all on its own. BUT let me tell you about that veal parm sandwich--it took me right back to my childhood outside of Boston. The veal was crispy, slightly chewy, and the mozzarella? It was practically cascading out of the soft roll in glorious cheese waterfalls. I'm telling you, it'll be hard to order anything else after that sandwich. Although, the Italian beef and eggplant grinders are also calling my name. This place isn't fancy, and that's exactly what makes it so special. I bet their nightly pasta dishes are top-notch too. So do yourself a favor--grab a grinder, forget your fancy pretensions, and just enjoy the old-school goodness. read more

Celiac sufferers beware! There are absolutely no gluten-free items on the menu. Sure, you can get gluten-free spaghetti but there are no gluten-free sauces. So sure, serve me a plate of spaghetti with no sauce. Sounds yummy. One reason the was virtually empty on a Friday night. And $10 for a three-ounce glass of house wine probably out of a box (or tastes like it.) No thanks. read more

What an absolute joy! Who knew that a little bit of Italy is located at Joe's Italian Cafe in Addison. My wife and I stopped in for an early dinner and had an exceptional experience. Our server, Dana, was gracious and very helpful in helping us review the menu. Joe was on property and was genuinely a delight to meet and was gracious in every way! In addition to his culinary expertise, Joe is nothing short of a Sommelier with exceptional wines on hand! The Tuscan Chianti was outstanding and paired well with our meal. I ordered the chicken marsala (the BEST I have ever tasted and she had the veal marsala, giving it the same BEST category and five stars across the board!). Joe's moved the top of our list of Italian restaurants and we have reviewed soo many! Great ambiance with a wonderful staff that makes you feel like a family friend at hello! One of the guys wanted Italian and so Joe's was where we went! It did NOT disappoint Loved it! I got the Braised Rib stuffed Ravioli with creamy mushroom sauce Randall got the Veal and it was awesome. Mike got the lasagna. I really wanted to love this place! Casual Italian restaurants are some of my favorite haunts. The food is mediocre. The place truly needs a good scrubbing. The service was a 'no" Clearly one of the servers is very familiar with the owner and shouted questions to him through the restaurant. It was almost comical but more disturbing than anything. I did to go, and it was on point. The food was tasty and well portioned. They were quick to get it all out together and packed and the server who cared for my order was jolly and ready to help care for my needs. The building and Devore were pretty old and the building had that old smell which wasn't to appealing. Maybe a little updating would help them draw more clients to an area with huge competition. read more

This is the place that you might have found Frank Sinatra in, had you been in New York. Traditional, old world ambiance. They have a surprisingly good wine selection, and even make braciola, which I thoroughly enjoyed even though it was probably too salty. This place is the owner's passion. They're only open until 8pm. They do what they want and customers need to fall in line, "if you get what I'm talkin about". Great place and you get what you get. I loved it. read more

I don't recommend Joe's if you're going to take your kids- is NOT kids-friendly! Saturday evening around 5:30pm we went to eat we were 3 adults and 2 kiddos (age 7 and 8) they were laughing and the owner was upset. Obviously as mom we tried to explain them to keep it low. After eating maybe 40 minutes they turn our lights off so we understood it was time to ask for the check. read more

Apparently, this place is an institution, it's been around forever, and it seems, so has the staff. The bread was top notch! My tortellini with gorgonzola cream sauce definitely took advantage of the bread, by soaking up every last drop! YUM! I went to dinner here during the week with my roommate. It is an older building and definitely needs some work to their ceiling tiles. They have good fresh bread that is crunchy on the outside and soft and hot inside. I got a 14" sausage pizza which was about $14.00. The crust is thin, a little soggy in the middle but nice crispy crust. The sausage was legit, hint of spice and full link sliced up. Their sauce was tasty but occasionally the whole topping would slide off the crust. Still a tasty pizza overall but could have been even better ambiance wise and end product. The service was good but the table was a little sticky, might want to make sure to cleanup better. read more

Took a friend there for her birthday. Nice place, wasn't terribly busy but it was the middle of the day. Food was delicious! They have some of the best fresh bread I've ever had! I had seafood crepes, very good, a little rich for me, but that's a personal preference anyway. My friend had pasta with chicken and she really enjoyed it. Wish they had better selection of alcohol. But overall it's a keeper and one to go back to again. Give them a try, it's very good. read more

Joe's is a lovely, local Italian restaurant that never fails to delight. The restaurant makes me feel like I've gone back to a simpler time and the service is always wonderful. When you sit down, you're greeted with delicious bread that I have to say no to a second loaf because it's so yummy. Ever a creature of habit, I always get a pepperoni pizza with a side house salad (their ranch is top notch). My husband is better about exploring the menu and has had everything from the fettucine with grilled shrimp (he recommends) to the italian sandwich (one of his go-to's). The eggplant parmigiano is prepared slightly differently, according to my mother, so be prepared (she still enjoyed it). Their martini's are fantastic, as are their dessert cannoli's. All that to say, cannot recommend this place enough. If you stop by, be sure to say hello to Joe! read more

We were very well greeted at the front door with a big smile and hello. The employees here are fantastic! Super sweet, very attentive, and work with a sense of urgency. They even had Italian accents! The menu has way too much on it! If you are a foodie or have been to Italy, don't come here. We had calamari (bland), veal marsala and veal picatta. The meat was scarce and not cleaning sliced. The picatta had way too much salt and lemon that over powered the dish. The sauce was thick like gravy and had clumps of starch. The marsala same thing. Yuck. This place might be good for pizza. There was music Thursday night which was nice. Went to bathroom and saw large cans of tomatoes. Disappointing. Make it fresh! Replace moldy ceiling tiles! read more

This restaurant was very cozy and service was pretty good. We got cheese tortellini with Gorgonzola sauce which was tasty, but even better was the short rib ravioli, highly recommend. My only complaint is portions were a bit small as you can see. We did also notice that they seemed to have raised prices, so prices on the website are a couple dollars inaccurate. First off, Joe was absolutely amazing! He's a very sweet guy who is extremely family oriented and makes you feel right at home. However, our waitress seemed to be stressed out and came off a little rude at times. She seemed a little unorganized, we had to ask to get refills, and our bill wasn't 100% correct either. But taking into consideration, we did have a party of 15. The food was good, but I wouldn't say it was amazing or out of this world. I ordered the butternut squash ravioli, sausage pizza, chocolate mousse cake, and tiramisu. The inside definitely gave you a feel of being in a little mom and pop shop in little Italy. read more

This is a family owned business that appears that it hasn't changed in years. The staff are older and pretty attentive. The food was pretty good, a little more flavor wouldn't hurt. We had the mushrooms in balsamic, which had lots of flavor, but a bit too vinegary. The combo dish the had with chicken parmigiana and Alfredo pasta was the dish that was a little lacking in flavor. read more

I've been going to Joe's for over 10 years & it gets better with each and every visit. They're perfect for an intimate dinner date, family get together or lunch with friends / co-workers. The food is always made to order and tastes as if it came straight from Italy to your table. The fresh-out-of-the-oven bread melts in your mouth while you await your main course. The perfect-sized salads served beforehand are just as delectable with all of their dressings made from scratch, in-house. They have many of your typical Italian dishes as well as several vegetarian options. I always have left overs but that is out of sheer willpower. As amazing all of their other food is, nothing tops their cannolis. I always order their minis Before my meal arrives just to have room for them. They. Are. Heaven. This is what a cannoli is supposed to taste like!! For the quality of food & service, you'd expect to spend $25-35 per person at minimum here but most definitely not the case. It's easily under $10 per person, unless you add in bottles of wine. (They have a lovely selection which even features my ultimate favorite- Caymus Special Select! Trust me, this exact bottle at Wolfgang Puck's Five Sixty is ridiculously priced at over $600 so as the most expensive item on Joe's menu at under $300, is a steal!) Another neat feature is that you almost always have a chance to meet Joe for yourself. He's typically sitting at the bar area and graciously greets anyone who wishes to speak to him. During slow times, I've seen him make a drink or two, and even stop by the tables to ensure everyone is enjoying their meal. They've even stayed open late a time or two for small (and large) groups still enjoying one another's company. Joe's is a hidden gem in the Dallas / Addison area. His parents are direct from Italy while Joe was raised in NYC - they bring old town flavor and a hospitality that millennial waitstaff would never understand. Even if you merely are in need of a drink, go ahead and order you mini cannoli - promise your day will end so much better for it. read more

This is the best gnocchi I have ever tasted so far! So tender and flavorful, and the sauce is delicious and creamy! Their garlic bread was the perfect addition to this meal. My overall experience with Joe's Italian Cafe was terrible. As soon as I walked into the restaurant the setting looked unkept. I ordered the chicken fettuccine alfredo and everything tasted uncooked and unseasoned. Even the Italian bread was bad, stale, no seasoning or butter on the bread. I was forced to throw everything away because the owner believes that everything that comes out of his kitchen is good and that the customers' opinion is invalid. I left the restaurant without a refund, unable to exchange for a better food item and unprofessional service from the hostess and the owner directly. I would highly recommend for anyone reading this review to find another restaurant. I guarantee you will leave that place with a negative experience. read more

First time to visit. My wife had the Gnocchi - light noodle like they are supposed to be with a nice sauce. I had the spaghetti with Italian sausage. Sausage is homemade with a great spice. There was a lot of sausage in the pasta so a very good value. We went for dinner but from its location, I think it's a popular lunch spot. I would give it 4 1/2 to 5 stars except the place is a little dirty - food on the floor, one dirty dish, and the place needs some paint. Otherwise, a very good meal. read more

Met friends at Joe's restaurant for my friends Birthday and I had a pepperoni pizza. One of my friends had the lasagna! Had to have dessert for my friends Birthday and we shared Creme Brûlée and it was scrumptious. The pizza was so good with a nice crispy crust and not greasy like a lot of pizzas. You are missing out if you haven't been to Joe's. My workplace orders month end lunches for catering and it's always delicious! Seriously, you have to try Joe's.
