DONOT USE THEM : ALERT. I purchased two Goodman AC units from Adirondack for more than 20k !, but they have never functioned properly. The company cited various reasons for failure, including incorrect air handlers and filters. A Goodman technician later confirmed that the air handlers needed replacement. Adirondack agreed to replace them once they were received, but despite having them, they have neither delivered nor installed them. When you request a new installation, the owner's son--who lacks technical knowledge--provides quotes and schedules installations without understanding the issue. The owner and company remain unresponsive, and their faulty installation has caused additional damage. This is poor service and accountability. Avoid. DO NOT USE THEM! read more

(The cost factor reduced one star.) My AC would go from 83 degrees to 82 but refused 77. Then it just quit. Kyle came. Kyle saw. Kyle fixed. Rights away, his calm command gave me confidence. He read the problem. He knew the answer. In short, plain words he explained all to me, and the solution. He also said what was fine. Then he effected the repair. Done. He also tweaked the compressor that was running hot, and cleared algae buildup in the cooler pan. That will head off later problems. I'm happy. I'm cool again. Kyle wasted no time. We had to have a totally new AC Unit installed when we purchased our townhome back in 2016. Adirondack put it in and all the stuff is warrantied. Well, AC unit (compressor) quit running late yesterday. Blower and handler still pushed air; it just wasn't chilled. Fast forward to morning and they answered right away. Lady on the phone (her name escapes me now) was very personable, courteous and explained various paths I could take. As I hadn't really done anything with caring for my relatively new system... I was offered their "Fan Club," a euphemism for a preventive maintenance plan that covers two visits a year. It also gives 10% off parts, any labor charges involved for replacement, etc. You probably would benefit from it so they can check system every six months rather than just neglecting it and moving on. Anyway: they got me in at 1000 this morning (I called only at 0800 (hoping for the best)...fantastic response time! Jack even showed a bit early for that matter. In a span of around 45 minutes he found the issue and took care of everything. We were getting cool air again by 1030! All in all, despite the fact that the whole episode cost north of $400, it was a good lesson in continuing maintenance. Adirondack DOES stand behind its work, seem quite honest and have always been friendly. It makes sense to care for items like one's AC system: it's a no brainer really. Yet there are many of us who don't bother anyway; I guess I'm one of 'em. Nonetheless, I do recommend these folks for their service, their professionalism and their down home way of doing things. Yes: there are huge companies with fancy trucks and catchy tv ads. As I hear their jingles rolling around the large vacuous space between my ears...I defer all that and refer Adirondack. SCAMMER!!! I guess we just got a very bad tech. It was awful. The young boy stayed on the phone the entire time he was here. He moved the thermostat and used different wiring to wire it to the AC unit. He said he also cleaned the unit and charged us $400.00. The day after, until now, our AC is using twice as much KWH!! Our usual $160.00 bill is now $400.00 and Duke said it will be more this month. We keep trying to talk to the Service Manager and the receptionist refuses to let us. They now want over $1500 to fix it and clean it, which they said they already did!! DO NOT USE!! She refuses to let us speak to the Service Manager. $2,000 is unreal for a unit 1 1/2 years old!! Ripped off. They charge an extra $100 for each hour after 4 pm based on when tech shows up and not on when call was placed. You call at 9 am and tech does not show up until after 6 pm, you are charged an additional $300 to the service fee of $89. That is before the repairs. They call it an after hours fee but if you call at 9 am it is not after hours when service is requested. Really, charging an extra $100 for each hour! It is not after hours if you call before 4 pm! If you cannot handle the extra work then we should all go elsewhere. Hope you enjoy losing customers because you lost another one. read more

So things started off a little shaky but they have changed since I posted my review. The owner Adam contacted me and a woman named Vicki spoke with me as well. We discussed the issue I had one the first visit and she assured me that they would have a discussion with the individual and let them know that he needed to understand new customer should be addressed differently than friends. Adam also wanted to meet face to face and address my concerns and comments as well as walk me through the issue they found and what they would need to do to fix them. So we agreed and he and his other tech came over and looked over the entire system. He explained every step he was taking and what the results were indicating. He worked up a quote for all the repair work and we scheduled them to come out tomorrow morning to make the repairs. So I will update the end results this weekend but so far so good. read more

The owner, Adam Hansen, implies (rather condescendingly) that it was my lack contract comprehension that led to my complaint and credit card company findings. Please note: Credit card companies only reverse fraudulent charges. I've never claimed Adam committed fraud. Rather, he was very unethical and lacked integrity by charging $239.41 for the "restocking" of labor for a job that was canceled 24+ hours in advance. I was hoping Adam would have the integrity to allow my credit card company to reverse those charges, which had already been paid. Unfortunately, Adam felt otherwise. read more

$$$$$$$ BREAK OUT YOUR CHECKBOOK!!! These guys are EXPENSIVE...I've used a lot of HVAC repair contractors in my 60 plus years. From North to South.. some bad, most were decent but none more expensive than these guys. their pricing is ridiculous. Not at all what I would call competetive priced unless you live in a mansion and can afford it, $350.00 for a $30.00 capacitor that took five minutes to replace and I told them that it had gone bad before they got here. Plus the almost $100.00 service/diagnostic call which they did do a thorough job of checking the system ,... and another $100 to remove unecessary Duke energy wires, that took five minutes. A LOT of trying to upsell you on either a new system or many other overly priced unecessary options...They fixed it but they really really are off the map on their prices. I could have fixed it myself for under 50.... next time I will. Also, If I hear that old line one more time about the prices based on their overhead I will puke. Among all the crap you hear, That is the biggest b.s. lie of all. Period. Over $500.00 for a $30.00 part and what turned out to be a super cheap, super simple fix.... OVERHEAD ?????? Air went out and called Hot/cold and 205 dollars later,air was still not working. Called in a couple of people because told unit needs to be replaced. Called a couple companies and called Adirondack Services from a referral. Glad I did. From Eric who took the time to review everything to Vicki in the office who got my equipment in record time. My experiences with Adirondack have been great so far. They have been to my house twice for two separate service calls and have been great on both accounts. The first one was a basic service call to repair a broken unit. They showed up during their assigned time, the serviceman was nice, courteous, and quick. Worked with them again when the second unit in my house when on the fritz. Again, they fixed it quickly. It was a very old system, I decided to just replace it overall and chose Adirondack to do it. They were able to work around my schedule and when I had timing issues, they had no problem rescheduling. Vicki, the permit manager, was always in contact with me - letting me know when they would show up, asking how the service was, and even getting the inspector out quickly to check the unit out. They've done great work, the county inspectors who checked the installations have confirmed that they have done so as well. I typically don't write reviews, but I usually find them helpful when I am considering a purchase, so here goes--I'll be brief. My original unit was 12 years old and started having cooling issues. Adirondack was a referral from a neighbor that just had her unit replaced by them. I purchased the Trane XR15 from them based on their competitive quote and ability to install it 2 days later. 1 full day to install--Carlos and Vicente were very nice, worked hard, and answered all my questions. Very clean work. The system stopped cooling that evening, and I called at 8pm to see if I could be scheduled first thing the next day. They actually came out 15 minutes later, to include the owner to research the problem. One of my zone sensors had failed (unrelated to the installation) and they had a new part ordered and installed the next day. Everyone I spoke with at this company has been nice---Adam the owner, Vicki, Drew, Leon to name a few. I now have a premium brand A/C unit (with 10 year transferable warranty) and feel comfortable that should I have a future issue they will take care of things. read more

I had a repair on Friday April 14th regarding my unit not blowing cool air. I'm a new homeowner, so I had no idea what I was getting into. It turned out I needed a new capacitor and let the technician do his thing. He hit me with a ~650 dollar tab (150 of the tab I'm guilty of falling for the up-charging, so that was my stupidity), but again, I have no knowledge of HVAC systems so the bill was paid. It didn't sit right with me that this little part, and an hour of the guy's time was valued at this price. I did some research and found out that the part is approximately 30-50 dollars depending on the website/local HVAC parts store. Subtract the 75 dollars for the call; the total for parts and service call was 275.00. This means I paid ~350 for one hour of labor. Thereafter, just to get a better understanding of the repair. i called a few other local places in Clearwater/Dunedin, and asked them(as someone looking for service) what the total out the door cost for a capacitor replacement would be, and the most expensive was ~275(with a 125.00 service call). I will admit that this was just an estimate and may have changed if I had a technician come out, but having multiple companies tell me prices half of what they charged does not sit well. I personally like a business i can trust. I will no longer use this company for repairs, nor will i recommend them. read more

I cannot say enough good things about the service I got from this company! They sent Shawn out the same day I called. My AC unit was failing in 80 + degree weather. I decided on a new system and Bill and Carlos came the next morning and did the install. I was very grateful they arranged the install so quickly because it was so hot! Another mark of unprofessionalism. ***DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!*** The owner is completely unprofessional and will threaten you if you have an issue with service. We recently called adirondack services for our A/C unit, it wasn't turning on and we also needed a duct check. We were quoted a reasonable amount so decided to use this company. Upon arrival, the technician took it upon himself to attach the loose wire on our unit and then presented us with an outrageous fee for something that we didn't authorize him to do. Seeing as we only wanted a quote on the repair of the unit we were a bit frustrated to be forced to pay a ridiculous amount of money for a loose wire. The problem isn't even the price of the service, it's the fact that this company takes it upon itself to rack up a service bill without consulting the customer. Here's were it gets really bad. Of course we were upset so my husband wrote a complaint to the owner, Adam. Adam was no help whatsoever, which after our experience, we weren't that surprised. The kicker is that in his response, he proceeded to say that any complaint made against his company would be considered SLANDER and that we should "guard ourselves accordingly" immediately followed by his attorney's information, he also CCed his response to his attorney. I take this as a threat and will follow up accordingly. This guy is trying to threaten us with legal action all because we voiced our concerns to him, which we have every right to do. A good business is built on customer satisfaction and good service, not swindling customers. Obviously this business makes it money from first-time customers only, I can't see any sensible person using this business for a second time, extremely unprofessional and rude. read more

I used Adirondack services to find and fix a leak they charged me $1247.55 to replace my coil witch was still un der warrant 1 and half month later still had the same problem they sent another tec out and he tried to get me for $700 more for parts that still worked. All I can say is, I dodged a bullet. it would have been real easy for an air conditioning company to come out and tell me some expensive part had just gone out on my AC. How do I really know, when my air is down and when I get home it feels like 100 degrees inside? I was just hoping that they didn't have to order parts or face some big delay. But it was like 4:30 when I called and they asked if I wanted them to come out after hours (costs more), so I said no, tomorrow would be fine. Moments later I began to regret that decision. So it's like an hour later and I call back when I figured out that opening all the windows, helped very little. The dispatcher says she will try and give me an update in about 90 minutes. Less than 90 minutes later, as I begin thinking what a cold hotel room will cost me, the owner himself (Adam) shows up in his van. Opens the garage, checks my inside ac and then goes to the outside one. Starts unscrewing the cover, and I'm thinking this is going to be a months pay at least anyway. Within an hour of getting to the house, my ac began running again. It turned out that some kind of contact or fuse thing had gone bad. My multi thousand dollar panic turned into little more than what the service call cost. I hate to say there aren't a lot of honest people out there. I had this company come out today for a free second opinion and quote. The technician, Andrew, came out promptly and began discussing with my boyfriend the options to repair our a/c. He had told him we could replace a part and see if that would fix it. The night before, a different company told us the same thing and installed the part. However, the part ended up failing while they were still there, so we wanted to make sure this part didn't do the same thing. After installation, it had lasted a while, but we had decided we would call around and get some other opinions. They tried to charge us for the part and the service rendered which was a grand total of $400 when we could purchase the part elsewhere for $30. It then became a debate over whether or not we should be charged since they were supposed to come out and only offer an opinion and quote and we hadn't signed anything agreeing for him to do any services. Andrew had also told my boyfriend that he HAD to install the part to make sure his diagnosis was accurate anyways. I could hear the technician getting louder towards my boyfriend and decided to contact the main office to speak to a supervisor. I was told by the receptionist that he would relay the message and have someone call me shortly. After hanging up the phone, my boyfriend and I realized the technician had left without saying a word. There was no bill or no note left behind. He took the part with him and left out unit disassembled (which wasn't the way it was before and we have pictures). Also, he left our back gate open which really irritated me since he never even announced his departure. After this, I saw I had two missed calls from the company and had called back. It turns out the receptionist told the technician (who was just on site) to call me. He was very rude to me and was even yelling on the phone at some points. He told me that it was not his responsibility to close the gate since he didn't open it and that he would not have been liable if one of my dogs had gotten out since he never unlocked it in the first place. He also told me that he works off of commission and wasted his time here if we weren't going to pay for his services. Unfortunately, I had to yell back at him to have him stop talking to me in this tone. I said to him I was trying to understand both sides of the situation and then he got heated again. He said that no company would come out for 2 hours and not have a fee. Again, he assumed wrong! I told him we had a company out the night before for 3 hours and they didn't charge us anything! Also, I had repeatedly asked to speak to his supervisor and his response was "What for?!" They ended up not charging us, but I still wanted to notify the manager of this specific employees attitude for his job since he is the face of the company, but he wouldn't direct me to his supervisor. Never in my life have I ever been spoken to the way Andrew spoke to me. He also didn't have any concern for my personal safety as well as my dogs if they were to escape with the back gate being left open. This company seems to be more concerned about profit and commission rather than customer service. I was so upset that I had to hang up on him. I called my mom in tears after being yelled at by this man. She called the receptionist and requested a phone call back from a supervisor as soon as possible. I have yet to receive a phone call 6 hours later. Clearly, customer service is not a priority here and my business is disposable. If you are a woman, please steer clear of this business because this company has no limits of the things they are willing to say or do to make a quick buck. I would have been intimidated if I had this conversation with Andrew in person. All I wanted was an apology after this and an understanding that we were both in the wrong to assume one another's words, but like I said, it isn't a priority to this company.
