We stopped her for lunch on a trip from Austin to San Antonio and were very impressed. The food quality for the pork carnitas was excellent. As well, the salsa was nice and spicy, which I prefer. Also the veggie quesadilla was a good portion with a nice selection of fresh sauteed vegetables. Only downside as for food: no vegetarian options for the beans. While the food was good, the service is what really stood out. We were taken care of by Jaaziel (ask for him if you go). It is rare to find a server so attentive and really happy about his job. He sealed the deal. We don't often drive this route, but would not hesitate to stop in again if we were close by. read more

I was part of a family gathering in the area and we were very happy with our experience here. Many times "Tex-Mex" is a label for pretty common fare, the good news is you know what to expect the bad news is there's usually nothing new. I'm happy to say that the chef here does not settle for ordinary and elevates Tex-Mex to a higher level. Large groups are always tricky at any place, with little or no notice makes it even more challenging. One thing working in favor of our group of 26 was that we arrived at 4:30(ish). We called ahead to let them know we were coming and they had arranged several tables together before we got there. We were seated pretty quickly and the chips, salsa, water and other beverages came out in short order - we also had a couple of the large queso con carne which was very tasty - they brought smaller bowls to dish it out to share across the group which was very helpful. The group ranged in ages from 1 to 87 and everyone had a really good time. We were off to the side so hopefully our rowdy group wasn't too much of a distraction for the rest of the restaurant. I split the tex-mex combo with the wife - enchiladas with mole, taco, chalupa, rice and beans. We liked everything that was on there, and with the chips and queso and salsa, it was plenty for us. The wife also had a margarita on the rocks and gave it high marks. Our daughter had the shrimp Adobe and gives it very high marks. One of my cousins had the shrimp enchiladas and wasn't as big of a fan. The taco salad and the fajita salad received high marks as did the fajita's for two. This is a great place to go with a crowd - they were able to split the checks for each family, our drinks never went empty and the chips were fresh and replenished as fast as we could eat them. Customary across most places was a 18.5% tip, this is one where I felt that was not sufficient and I went above that. I'm looking to go back there again before I leave town to try some of their other dishes. The management is very accomodating, the staff was always there but never obtrusive, the food was creative, tasty and plentiful. While I've never been addressed as Sir so many times in a day as I was here, that's part of what Texas is about and I appreciate their hospitality. I recommend this place - for a few to quite a few. If you know you are taking a group there in advance, they also have meeting rooms that they can arrange for you. Oh, it was blazing hot and humid outside but cool and comfortable inside. read more

Meh, nothing to brag about at this place. We were hungry and they had food, so that was a plus. A friend recommended this place and said the carnitas were amazing. I will say the carnitas were the best thing we had, but weren't anything to brag about. My enchilada was disgusting. It tasted like they used fake processed Velveeta. My husband got a fajita taco and it didn't have much flavor and no fajita? Our friends ordered a taco salad with the carnita meat and said it was good. They also ordered the caldo de pollo soup and said it was missing seasoning. I would skip this place if in the area and want decent Mexican food. read more

The southwest salad with shrimp was very expensive considering the lettuce was no good and only 4 shrimps on top and all for $17. We are regular customers but it has been getting bad lately. To top it off we had received a text stating up to $8 off towards an appetizer and at checkout was told nothing on my reward account shows $8 off. Manager then stated oh well I tell my customers to not rely on texts but to check their rewards account. WTH?? Those are your texts going out and not me making something up. we would have never ordered an appetizer but who says no to free. Anyway no honoring and being treated condescending blew my mind. I guess this place is off our restaurant list and you lost a good customer. Food is not too bad (most of them) but the prices don't justify Hispanic food. read more

We love going here to eat. Everything is wonderful, but we prefer the beef fajitas. The staff are great and they have a drive up window where you order your food, then they text you when it's ready. They have been around a long time. In fact, I waited tables there in the late 1980's. read more

Man I love this place, been eating there since I was a kid. There had some ups and downs but mostly up's:-) In other words most of my dining experiences with Adobe Café have been pretty great with a few odd mishaps intertwined. The food is pretty awesome I recommend the chicken Diablo With a side of grilled veggies. the wait staff is pretty quality as well. Although once I did order takeout and got All the way home just to find that only half of my order had been put in the bag which led me to have to drive all the way back to pick up the rest my order, I even asked the waitress who handed me my order to confirm everything was in the bag before I left she confirmed that it was which made it even worse That it wasn't LOL. And for the inconvenience all She Offered me was a large bag of chips WTF! needless to say my food was also cold By the time I got to eat it because of this little incident. The moral of the story is check your bag before you leave the drive-through :-) But as previously mentioned that doesn't happen very often so all in all it's a damn good place to eat. First thing the chips are store bought chips and salsa is just basic... the retried beans on my plate taste like I'm having bbq beans at a bbq restaurant ( way way too much bacon flavor). I got the 3 cheese enchiladas plate and the enchiladas had so much cheese inside them you had to take some out! Also asked to change to change the kids rice and beans into fries... kids meals are already $6... and you want an extra dollar to switch sides.... Won't be coming back... read more

Fantastic food, service and ambiance. The bar area is nice and quaint but not too small. A couple TV's to watch games.

Went with guests (4 adults, one child) at 6pm. Were seated within 2 minutes as two tables had to be joined. Hot chips and sauce waiting (2 of each) for us. Our server, Isaac, greeted us promptly and took our drink orders and the Fiesta Queso order. Throughout, he was very attentive without being a pest. I would imagine he has not worked long as he was unfamiliar with the Chili Relleno en Nogada or the Adobe Special Chalupas. This is not surprising as I suspect that most customers order more traditional Tex-Mex dishes. He did return several times prior to the food coming out to make sure of our order. Very good server, and when he learns the menu inside and out will be a rock star! The food was excellent, start to finish, as was the service (see photos posted). I am puzzled at some of the bad reviews, as we have always enjoyed our visits. You can't please everyone all the time and some folks can't be pleased any time. A personal note to Fred Valdez...Fred, thank you for putting the Nogada chilis on the menu. I know I bugged you about them during the delivery of your Chevy trucks years ago. We were here tubing & came after to get something to eat before the drive back to Houston. Mercedes was incredible, but sadly the patrons and a Caucasian man who was perceived to be the manager were RACIST and DISRESPECTFUL. We had a party of 14, with 6 adults (split checks) and midway through dinner the "floor manager" (or GM) came to my minor son to say, "Hey man! Excuse me." My husband interrupted and asked him what he needed, "We are getting complaints from people who eat here all the time that you are being too loud. If you can't keep it down...". My husband replied, "To-Go box please". Mind you, we had spent the entire time enduring dirty looks and muffled conversations about our entire section from the customers around us. The manager then hid in the back talking to the waiters (as they pointed at our table) for the duration of our payment and exit. Then, as we were leaving, patrons of this business called us "wetbacks". I am sorry, but my family is from the United States of America & I am from the original settlers of the United States and a Granddaughter of the Civil & Revolutionary Wars. Completely European background (not that it should matter to receive service after spending hundreds of dollars in this city and at least $300 here). Yes, my husband, his family, and my children share different heritages but we shouldn't have to feel like we are outsiders in a town that depends on tourism for their local economy. Unacceptable treatment to paying customers, and to make it worse to attempt to address it to a child and not the adults at the table is a whole other level of disrespect. If you are not white, be prepared to be stared at and asked to leave (especially if you have children who are loud & excited after their day on the river). I guess children in New Braunfels don't get loud or make any noise when seated at separate tables (due to Covid-19). P.S. The child making the most noise was a tired two year old. Pretty sad ...we paid so much and in the end got treated worse than the trash. That is saying a lot from us since three of the people seated at these tables work full-time in restaurants (in Houston where they are child friendly). read more

We came here on a locals recommendation and it was quite good. We ate an early dinner in the bar area. The service by both hit the hostess and waiter was friendly and prompt. It wasn't very busy in the restaurant and as a result our food and drinks came out quickly. The bar has several beers on draft including local brew, Guadalupe Brewing options. The food was good, I had enchiladas verdes and my girl ordered the #4 cheese enchilada plate but was given the #3, only difference between the two was a taco and rice. Our waiter immediately noticed the error when he came to check on the food that was delivered. He offered to get the right plate but it was no big deal and the food was great. I can say this place is a solid Mexican food option in New Braunfels. We'll definitely return. read more

They have some of the usual Mexican food but I go for the chili relleno Delgado. It is so tasty and the sauce they put on it is so good. Comes with Mexican rice and the boracho beans that are in a sauce. Ask for Megan to wait on you and tell her Lee recommended her. She really takes care of you without being obnoxious. read more

New to area & 1st visit to Adobe Cafe did not disappoint. Both being previous restaurant managers/owners & daughter a food server we can be tough cookies. Server Amy was spot on & didn't miss a beat & we were delighted with the Fiesta Queso, margaritas & combo meals we ordered. We always order different menu items so we can share & sample. Only suggestion would be to use hot or at least warm serving plates. Our main dish items were lukewarm but the flavor was still excellent. We judge many restaurants by their salsa & chips & theirs passed our test! read more
