I love Adobe Cafe. It has been a consistently good restaurant since I was a kid. Most recently it has become one of my favorite restaurants in new Braunfels. They did a phenomenal job during all the COVID shutdown. We didn't eat out very much but we knew that any order was going to be exactly correct and delicious. They have really good vegetation and low carb options and great TexMex. They even make their own corn tortillas. The servers are knowledgeable and the bartenders make great drinks. Do yourself a favor and order the carnitas with grilled vegetables (small upcharge) and a ranch water to drink. read more

Adobe has been around a long time! The food is delicious. The vegetarian options are delicious. The food comes out quickly and is accurate. They have a full bar where you can also eat dinner. What Mexican restaurant uses American cheese for their food???! Ordered my daughter a quesadilla and it had melted American cheese! My tacos had shredded American cheese, not cheddar. Yellow American cheese! It was laughable really... tried this place out because so many recommended it.... Look I understand the whole Tex mex thing here in Texas BUT this was certainly not Tex mex and for damn sure not Mexican! I'm surprised this place has stayed open... The food was outstanding... even the vegan options. The reason for the 5 stars is not just the delicious food alone, but also the AMAZING service by our server, Christian! He did not mess up one order from our party of 27! He handled all our orders pretty fast considering our large party. Other places in the area do not even like to service large parties, but Adobe does. I would definitely recommend this place, ask for Christian!! I've been eating here since Rosita's became the Adobe when I was a kid, so over 30 years now. I don't live in New Braunfels any more but whenever I'm passing through from Austin, this is where I like to eat. Adobe is a real taste of home for me. I love their chips and salsa, their queso, the cheese enchiladas, and their refried beans. That's what I ordered when I was a kid and I still order that today. Other things I've tried and loved are their chicken fajita nachos and their carnitas plate. The food is just what Tex Mex should be and I have yet to find a place in Austin that I like as much as Adobe. The service is always polite and fast. You can be in and out in under an hour for lunch. I know this place is a real hometown joint because I'll usually recognize someone I grew up with whenever we go to Adobe. read more

Service was good and the interior was fine. Tables rather than booths. I had crispy beef tacos. They just didn't have a Tex-Mex taste. My husband has beef enchiladas and they were rather they were on the bland side also. Dq makes a tastier taco. I was disappointed. read more

It was raining, and my husband slipped and fell at the front door. He bruised his elbow and scratches his arm; needless to say he was sore. I told the manager where he fell and that they need to put a mat down since it was so very slippery. He looked at me in disbelief and said "really?" twice. Ummm, I wasn't lying. My husband also went and told the manager he fell and had to ask him for ice. The service was slow and we waited quite a while for our food. The waitress was nice and polite. The food was excellent. The manager could've at least come back to our table during the visit and checked on him. He also could've comped his dinner. Nope. Neither. Man, when I was a kid, we'd always stop here on the way home from San Antonio and I remembered it being so good! But maybe I was just young and didn't know the difference back then... I had chicken enchiladas and they were pretty bad... Not to mention, the tortillas were really thin and seemed store-bought, same with the chips. It was just overall pretty disappointing. We took our truck to get the windows tinted and needed to kill some time. What better way than trying a Tex-Mex restaurant? This place was in walking distance. The queso is amazing! Really close to the queso at Alamo Cafe. We both got enchilada plates (one cheese and one beef). They were pretty dang good! They make their tortillas in house which is a gold star on our part. Our waitress mentioned a reward program so we signed up to earn points. If I can get for free food, then YES! This will be on our go to list for our New Braunfels trips! read more

All this time in the area and haven't tried it, I must be poorly informed! It was definitely a good, solid tex-mex with top knotch service. I came with a large group of people and they absorbed us with no problems. Everything was very well run and the staff get super props. I had the lunch taco's. It was ginormous for what I thought would be a lunch sized meal. After the chips, salsa, and tortillas - there was no one around me who even finished their meal. The tacos were rock solid. I had a chicken and a beef. The beans were very good but some might think that they were too salty. The rice was just filler. Tea was always full so that shows how attentive they are. Not anything crazy good in the taste zone, but a solid performance all around. You should definitely try this spot out. read more

First time, but definitely not the last time!!! Y'all have earned a life long customer in my family and I. The entire family was celebrating our mother's 75th birthday and we knew it would be a challenge to serve a party of 25. As anticipated, the wait was a lengthy 45 minutes to be exact - but that was expected at 6p on a Saturday night. That wasn't even a problem bc the manager and host kept us updated every five minutes as to the progress in getting us seated. Now the real reason of the the 5-star rating was not the delicious food, which was extremely flavorful and prepared well. It's not even the variety of mixed drinks that were absolutely flowing with perfect ratios of alcohol and great taste. Even the other patrons in the restaurant were just pleasant to be around and made conversations easy and delightful. The real show-stoppers and number one reason that prompted me to write this review was the service of Christian M. and Tennesyn - who were professionally flanked by the most punctual kitchen staff and bussers. Christian and Tennesyn approached our large party with systematic precision in their service. They greeted us, they introduced themselves, made us feel comfortable, and pretty much became an extension of our family. Both took our all of our orders like normal, but the biggest impact was they did NOT make a single mistake. We've been to Krause's on multiple visits and every single time there are at least 2 errors in our orders. Thank you for getting it right. Christian and Tennesyn also ensured our food came out in a timely manner. This was a huge plus bc a party of 25 usually waits 30-45 minutes for food to come out. Well our food came out in less than 10 minutes, and I'm not embellishing. How does that even happen?! What is this sorcery?! We were out to dinner at Perry's in La Cantera and waited for 2 hours and 15 minutes just for all our food to come out. What's even more insane than that wait time is that we actually stayed - only bc they offered some compensation. Anyway, I'm letting this review get out of hand so I better stop. Ultimately, I just wanted to showcase the above-and-beyond service displayed by Christian M. and Tennesyn. Great job Adobe - you have done a masterful job in the training of your servers, kitchen staff, hosts, and most importantly your managers! read more

Such a shame! This restaurant was really good at one time, a long time ago. Stopped today on the way back from Austin too San Antonio and wanting Caldo. Well my large bowl of soup was over $7 and was the smallest bowl of Caldo I have ever had, not to mention bland. Only reason for 2 stars was my wife said her enchilada was good. Went for a late lunch after a long wait at Bluebonnet across the highway and will be coming here with family tomorrow, so we went to have a sneak peak. It was our first time coming here so we had to try the queso and fried avocado. The queso was pretty runny at first, had a decent flavor and would probably try the one that has like pico in it next time, as I'm sure it would bulk up the cheese some. The fried avocado didn't have much flavor when we ate it with the chipotle sauce and tried it with the queso as well. It was different but I don't think we would try this again, it didn't really blow us away and we love avocado. We did really enjoy the sizzling beef fajitas and steak tampiquena! My husband loved his steak as it was flavorful, juicy and tender. I really liked the beef fajitas for the same reason. A lot of times from other places the fajitas can be a bit tough or very salty sometimes and was glad that this wasn't the case. We will probably get the same entrees tomorrow, but don't tell our family we came here today! I think we can add this place to our list of restaurants in NB when we are in the neighborhood. BTW..Mercedes was a very nice and attentive waitress! And I will try to take pictures before we attack our food lol...we were starving! read more
