Tacos and Beer!! Best tacos I've had in a long while. I tried one of each. All good. But carne asada is the best!

Desert churros were mushy from the inside. Chip salsa had no flavor

Service was horrible our server was overwhelmed with the amount of tables he had. We were abandoned. He looked so exhausted. Our table was not acknowledged even after three different servers passed by our table. I had to flag them down and ask him if my table was even assigned to one. We had to ask for our check multiple times yet. They brought us to go boxes but still no check. Had to go to the host booth to pay the bill. And still had to wait for the server to bring the bill. It was not pleasant.

Great food, beautiful views. Arriving at the Adobe Grill, you walk up beautifully landscaped hilly walkways, and greeted with the sounds of the house band playing on one of the outdoor levels. As we checked-in for our reservation (reservation recommended), we got seated on one of the outdoor balcony tables. The views are perfect, as you get to see the sunsetting on the mountain sides. Chips and salsa were brought to the table right away. This is one of the best chips and salsas I've had in a long time. The chips were thick and crunchy and salsa was made with fire-roasted tomatoes, thick and full of flavor. I ordered the carnitas; comes with rice and beans, tortillas and sides of an avocado lime salsa and a roasted tomato (warmed) salsa. Both were pretty good. The carnitas were mostly tender; with the exception of the harder meat ends. The rice and beans were very tasty. You can't beat the atmosphere here. From the beautiful views, to the authentic modern mexican furnishings. Very upscale. The service was good. The server took our orders right away and the food came fast. But trying the get any one of the many people working there's attention was a little tricky. I know they are all moving so fast to help others. The price was on the high end for Mexican food, but I think you're paying for location, views, and entertainment with the food.

Chicken flautas and chili gueros, chips and salsa.

So I'm staying here at the resort and my first night I decided to get some Mexican food. As I walked in I sat at the bar and the bartender was very welcoming and friendly. I started off with some chips and salsa and a Paloma which was a little strong which I liked. Then I got the chili gueros and the flautas and both were delicious. I also came back a few after as well with my dad and friend and got another Paloma and this time I tried the shrimp enchiladas and those were so delicious!

I don't love writing bad reviews, but its nice to have an outlet when places stink. Sadly thats why Im here today. Adobe Grill is a hard skip. The only reason one should eat here is they are staying at the resort and unable to leave to eat somewhere else. The Good: Beautiful location. Beautiful restaurant. Solid chips and both my chicken fajitas and my wife's chicken salad were good (but bland). The Bad: Salsa is flavorless and stringy/hairy? (pic attached) I got a Grande "El Perfecto" margarita and my wife a Paloma. Nearly $40 in drinks, I dont think there was an ounce of tequila between both our drinks. I got a $22 limeade and her a $17 grapefruit juice with tajin. Despite the restaurant not being busy at all the service was mid to bad. This place is wildly overpriced and with average food and bad everything else (except the environment, with is pretty). They cleary exploit naive tourist that may have never had good Mexican food/drinks. For me its one of those spots, that's a one and done, never going back.

This restaurant is definitely a destination if you're in the La Quinta area. The grounds are beautiful, and the food is authentic and delicious! We sat on the patio, and even though we had to ask three times to have our heater turned on, we had quick and friendly service. We will always be sure to come when visiting the area. The Christmas decorations were so beautiful!

Decent food, mediocre service, and cool indoor seating. There wasn't anything phenomenal, but there also wasn't anything to complain about.

SHORT ANSWER: Just an update, but Casa Mendoza seems to be just getting better. Some new staff but…read morefood quality and people here are very welcoming. LOCATION: In Old Town La Quinta, OTLQ easy to find, tons of parking but at times it gets busy so you may have to walk a bit. FACILITY: very traditional inside and out, clean, and lots of space between tables. MENU: rather massive, we usually order the same things so all the other options makes my head hurt so we just go with what we know. FOOD PREP: excellent, always looks the same which is a good things. FOOD QUALITY: some of the best in the valley. LIBATIONS: lots of choices and not too expensive, wish they had a locals city of LQ discount like some of the other options in OTLQ.. WAITSTAFF: very nice, everyone. OVERALL VALUE: if you order the right things, it is a great value but you can go nuts and spend a lot, tourist dollars spend well, upselling happens for those who want it and deserve it! TIP: Sitting outside is great most all year, we don't go out when it is crazy hot, but have dined outside in 100+ temps, we prefer the front outdoor space.

*Mi Casa es Su Casa*…read more My buddy had a small casual bday get-together with his family and invited me to join the celebration. I saw all the favorable reviews on Yelp and was looking forward to my first visit at Casa Mendoza. Very chill & lively family owned Mexican joint in Old Town LQ. The place was kinda busy @6:30pm on Hump Night ~~ always a great sign when I see this. Felt more like a Sunday Evening. It took an hour to receive our meals. Ordered @6:45 arrived @7:45pm. Good thing the Chimichanga & Gauc apps arrived pretty quickly. The Gauc was Excellente. All their food was very good. But all our meals arrived cold/lukewarm. Took forever to receive our food and we knew for a fact it's because all our plates sat a while until we were served. The actual plates weren't even warm and the sizzling fajitas had sizzled out and lost its dazzle. Because it was still 95 degrees when dinner was finally served, our lukewarm meals were doable on a hot night. Everyone did enjoy their meals tho. I was very pleased with my Mahi Mahi in Garlic Butter Sauce. The refried beans were outstanding. The rice very good...and I made tacos with the 3 corn tortillas. But would have enjoyed it even more had all the food been a little warmer. I stuck with H2O but all margarita drinkers said their drinks were good and hit the spot on a warm night. The service in general was also inconsistent for our small party of 8. The Birthday Boy was a little frustrated and got up a few times from his throne seeking assistance -- such as missing tortillas for meals, water refills, extra napkins. We even had to wait longer than anticipated for them to acknowledge the bday boy with a celebratory bday song & sombrero...and the fried ice cream, which didn't include a candle. Tho we all enjoyed ourselves and time together...a 2 hour dinner at a Mexican joint on a Wednesday night wasn't what we anticipated. Especially with one restless 7 year old ;-) But everyone working at Casa Mendoza is very friendly with great attitudes. Hostess team, waiters, servers & runners too. So that made up for the spotty service, just a little bit. Since I'm closer to the other Casa Mendoza in Palm Desert, I'd go there in the future with my wife, and order the exact same thing. But hope for much better service and warmer food.
