We ended up getting permanent bracelets and semi-permanent rings (along with some other jewelry they had in the shop). For the permanent jewelry, you get to look at what seemed like HUNDREDS of different chains, it was so hard to decide! I loved that the price was listed on each of the chains, so you know what to expect. For a ring made from the chains, it is 1/3 of the price listed. I thought this was such a reasonable price too! On top of it all- it was unexpectedly such a fun experience! I can so see this being a really fun activity for a bachelorette party, a birthday, even just a girl's day out after brunch. She came up with the idea we should get permanent jewelry! So off to Alexandra Marks we went. You can choose between permanent bracelets or anklets and there are so many different chains to choose from and you can even add on fun charms. We all selected a gold tone metal chain and opted for anklets since they seemed more durable. Hot tip: Ask for your anklet to be looser so that it's not as tight and is less prone to breaking! We got champagne to sip on and it was such a fun experience throughout. They also let us know if our jewelry does fall off or needs to be cut off, the store will fuse it back together as long as you call/make an appointment and bring it back to them to fix. We spent a few minutes looking at the clothes and other jewelry for sale and they had some really cute stuff, and prices seemed pretty reasonable especially for a small boutique. They have a decently sized collection in both silver and gold, along with little charms you can add which I recommend! But I've followed on Instagram and they have some beautiful jewelry, and I love jewelry, so I stopped in today whilst waiting for my coffee order at The Coffee Studio to be ready. The staff were nice; I was greeted immediately upon entering. I did get there as they were opening, so it was just me and the three employees. I wandered around for ten minutes or so. They have some beautiful merchandise for sure, and work with local artists as well as those further afield for their jewelry (at the very least). They carry pieces from at least half a dozen artists. Most of it is gold, and I'm not a fan of gold but they had a few silver pieces that interested me and I may be back for. The clothing was a skip for me, since I'm not sure they carry anything above a size four or so. They also had some clips/hair bands/head bands, and why did I spend a ridiculous amount on these? Because they're beautiful, I guess. I think what originally brought WG to my attention is that they do permanent jewelry. I'm really intrigued by this so I've checked into the places I know do it in the city. WG has particularly beautiful chains, and they have a variety of charms from red which to choose (I like the mama one now that I can call myself that!). I need to look at price and confirm that this is where I want to do permanent jewelry... but I think I might be back for that. As a word to the wise, the employee told me that I could come and do it as a walk in, but they recommend appointments on the weekend because it can be very busy. There's nothing but street parking around here, and it's not in the busiest part of Andersonville where there's more parking. There's some street parking on the surrounding streets, and don't forget about Ashland or as far north as Victoria and whatnot up by Gethsemane, which also has a short metered portion.

The deal was $99 for $225 worth of jewelry. I stopped by at the end of the month, eager to check out what they had, but I was kind of disappointed to find out that they didn't have much in my price range or really anything I liked. I knew I didn't want to spend more than my youswoop (or not much more at least)-if I'd been able to afford the next step up, I would have. I can't remember who helped me that day, but he was very nice and told me they planned to have their new store (at 28 N. Wabash) open come March, and that they'd have more in my price range by then. I walked by last week and their new store was still closed (Samir told me today that they hope to open next month). Bummer. I decided to go in today to their booth location at 7 South, because well, my youswoop was burning a hole in my pocket (as these things do). I'm glad I did. Samir was really nice and very helpful, showing me things in my price range. Unfortunately (and the reason this is not a 5 star review), they still didn't have much around $200-$250 ($25 over my youswoop, the max I would've spent) I'm fairly certain the purpose of the youswoop was to discount bigger purchase like an engagement ring, but I still would've liked them to have more options. Anyway. They have some beautiful pieces. Many things you won't find at most jewelry stores, which is pretty cool. Samir helped me select some Sapphire earrings after much deliberation on my end. I'm very happy with my purchase. You may find yourself now asking, "What, praytell, will keep you going back to Mon Ami, when you don't have much money and they don't have a lot in your price range?" The answer is simple. You see, my sapphire earrings are yellow gold. Anybody who knows me knows that I loathe yellow gold (save for literally two pieces of jewelry, one from my husband, and one that belonged to my grandmother). So when I was looking and found these earrings, of course I asked if they had any in white gold. They did not. However, Samir said that they would dip them in w.g. for me, and that I could pick them up tomorrow. What really sealed the deal for me with Mon Ami was that he told me that they normally charge $10 for dipping, but he would just take my youswoop as the entire payment (earrings were $200, tax was $19 or so), and for me to not worry about giving them the rest. I really appreciated that, even though it wasn't a huge difference in cost. That gesture will be what keeps me going back to Mon Ami-it's how you get yourself a loyal following. Thanks, Samir!
