I know the reviews aren't the best so I was a little nervous heading in - but honestly it really wasn't that bad. The dishes were all pretty good and I've recommended this spot to my friends as well. FOOD: - Appetizers: cornbread (pretty filling, good value if you don't want to spend a lot), lobster sando (a little too salty for my taste but it was still worth trying!) - Main: I actually liked the main entrees more than the appetizers! Favorite was the lamb chop - I usually don't like lamb for the gamey taste but I didn't get that at all. My parents liked this the most too. SERVICE: - We got our food pretty quickly and I had no problems like the other reviewers noted. If you're not sure about coming here, I'd say to just go and make your own judgement! This one is hard because I really wanted to like the place. The aesthetic is beautiful. It's like something you see from architectural digest and the service from Jose was really excellent. The food on the other hand, it was definitely not the best. We had the lobster sando, (my favorite), the hamachi crudo (not the best and I've had a lot of crudo in my life), and the fried shrimp (too much sesame seeds and they tried to make a sweet and sour sauce but it just doesn't work for me). We got the spaghetti (which I wasn't really a fan of either) and the whole fish (which was basically a fish and chips which I did not hate but I did not love either). The coleslaw the fish was amazing though. I just honestly did not like the sauce the fish came with and I ended up asking for tartar, thank god they had it or I wouldn't have been able to eat it. The drinks were pretty decent, I got the Yuzu Old Fashion and an Espresso Martini, which had way too much vodka and wasn't enjoyable. Would I come back again? It's a sad no! I am so glad I didn't have to leave the hotel to get some amazing food while staying at the Tetra Hotel. I can only speak for the breakfast I had since I only came during the mornings. This restaurant had a nice upscale but casual vibe and it can be conveniently found connected to the hotel lobby. The service was very slow though, taking over 10 minutes for my food to come out after ordering. However I loved how fresh and good quality the food was. The only reason I took off a star is because the prices are a bit much for what you get. THE FUNDAMENTAL- My scrambled eggs were cooked to soft perfection and not dry at all. The sausage and steak had that perfect char. The toast was perfectly toasted, crunchy but still chewy. The potatoes were perfectly crispy and I loved the umami flavor. The continental breakfast was okay with just a simple parfait and apple but the pastry was good. The umami chicken BLT was delicious and amazing texture. The salad included was refreshing but they forgot the fries. Overall the staff was so attentive and nice and they made the experience feel upscale and nice for breakfast. Second time coming to this place on both occasions, it was a business lunch with different vendors so unfortunately I didn't take a picture. Menu is sparse with only a few options beyond salads, all of which are sandwiches, all at $25. Last time I got a burger this time I got a sliced pork sandwich with egg and a lot of arugula. Food was OK, but at this price point it should stand out and it just doesn't. I should add that the lunch time crowd was us four and one other table being served. I was looking for a romantic and unique place for Valentines day. I saw this menu and was intrigued. They had a special prix fixe menu for the holiday, but we didn't really like the food being offered, so we opted for their a la cart. I guess since it was a special day, they called me to get my card info ahead of time. It was a confusing process because if I called them back, it went to the hotel lobby, and they didn't have a clue what I was talking about when trying to give them my card. Weird that they didn't just take it from the open table reservation I made. EXPERIENCE We arrived, we had a 5:45 reservation on a Tuesday, I think it had to be that early because of Valentines. But it was not busy at all. The restaurant isn't small, there were many open tables even when we left. It was quite confusing because they were turning away other parties, but it wasn't full. I even tried calling to move my reservation to be later, but they said no. When we left, maybe 6/15 tables were full. Anyways, the service was really good. Constantly refilling our water, asking how our meal was going. The food came out in a timely manner. The ambiance was amazing. The decor, furniture, dishware, was all impressive to us. The menu was interesting with some true fusion and unique combinations. I was pleasantly surprised. FOOD (5/5) Hamachi Crudo (Sweet Onion, Serrano Pepper, Kaiso Salad, Black Sea Salt, Yuzu Kosho, Ponzu, Olive Oil) - This was great, seemingly simple, very fresh. I wanted more. (4/5) Mini Grilled Lobster Sando (Milk Bread, Miso Aioli, Furikake, Tograshi Cheese) - This was yummy, but it was quite heavy. The bread was really soft! But everything about this was just heavy. Maybe some acid or something to cut all of the fat would have been nice. I think the cheese was an interesting addition, I don't really associate lobster and cheese, maybe a step too far. The aioli and furikake made sense and were nice. What about a yuzu aioli instead? (3/5) Wagyu Burger (Tomarashi Cheese, Miso Aioli, Fries, Toasted Brioche Bun) - I don't really understand taking a nice wagyu cut of beef and turning it into a burger. My partner ordered this. He liked it for the first 3 bites, but then it became overwhelming. Quite heavy. There wasn't much balancing the dish, just all heavy ingredients, nothing refreshing to compliment. DESSERT (4/5) Chai Panna Cotta (Cardamom Streusel, Frosted Pistachio, Satsuma) - I liked this a lot, the flavors were subtle but noticeable. Does it taste like chai, that I am not so certain of. The panna cotta was delicious with a good mouth feel. But the frosted pistachios, something was wrong with those. It wasn't adding crunch, it just kind of mushed in my mouth, and unpleasant feeling. OVERVIEW Maybe I was just in an extra good mood this night. Regardless of all the confusing reservation issues leading up to the night, and being forced to come for an early dinner unnecessarily, it was a really good experience. To start off, the service was amazing! We literally got our water refilled after every sip it seems like lol. I really liked the lobster sandwich. I usually find a lot of the lobster rolls heavy on the mayo and would get sick of it but this lobster sandwich was actually just perfect. The beef carpaccio was a cool experience as well and pretty good. The only thing I would not recommend is the tomahawk. It comes with a pricey price tag but of course that's expected with a tomahawk. Compared to other tomahawks or steaks I've had, it was just not worth the experience because it was just so bland and tough to eat. My partner and I decided to celebrate Valentine's Day at Adrestia for the first time, and we had a lovely evening overall. They offered a pre-fixed menu with wine pairings, which was a great touch. My partner, who's a fan of wine, was very pleased with all the selections. As for me, I'm more of a foodie, so I was excited to dive into the dishes. The Dungeness crab was a bit unfortunate in portion size--I wish there was more. The tofu appetizer was decent, maybe a 7/10, but the real highlight for me was the steak. It was absolutely delicious, and the full-bodied red wine pairing was spot on. The strawberry beignets were the perfect sweet end to the meal, and they were a favorite for both me and my partner. Our server, Jazmine, was friendly and attentive, and everything was well-timed. The gentlemen pouring the wine were also very knowledgeable and explained each wine pairing in detail. Jazmine also mentioned a small vendor event happening on March 7th, along with live music, which has already given us the perfect excuse to come back and try their regular menu. Located in the elegant, new TETRA Hotel in Sunnyvale, Adrestia represents a new breed of chef-driven hotel restaurants that offer inventive, quality dishes at fair prices (rather than overpriced food aimed at tourists). The menu at Adrestia incorporated Japanese and other global influences, and the plating, presentation, and creativity were stunning. To start, we had the Skillet Cornbread, a buttery loaf of cornbread baked in a cast iron skillet. The cornbread contained actual kernels of corn, had crispy edges, and went nicely with the honey butter and miso butter that came on the side. We also got the Trio of Spreads, which came with triangles of grilled naan along with zucchini baba ghanoush, carrot hummus, and my favorite spread, a green olive tapenade. Next, we continued with some larger plates including the Wagyu Burger, made with a super juicy, fatty, thick patty of beef in a brioche bun along with melted TomaRashi cheese and miso aioli, which both added an unctuous, umami flavor. The most photogenic dish we had was the Lobster Sando, a Japanese-style sandwich made with grilled milk bread containing a filling of spicy lobster and togarashi (Japanese chili pepper) cheese. The sando was sliced into four pieces and topped with furikake, which added a nice crunch, and the plate was decorated with miso aioli, which added a creamy unctuousness to the sandwich. Flavorwise, my favorite dish was the Flash-Fried Yellowtail Collar, two pieces of fried fatty, meaty hamachi collar served over crunchy puffed forbidden rice and an orange yuzu sauce, which added just the right twinge of sweetness. I was also a huge fan of the Red Rice-Crusted Branzino, two fillets of branzino with red rice embedded into the skin, which added an amazing crispy texture to every bite. The fish was served with a Fregola Caponata (pearl-shaped pasta with eggplant and tomato) and a salad of arugula, radishes, and capers leaves, which both made for delicious accompaniments. What a hidden gem of a restaurant! Adrestia was almost completely empty when we dined here, but the creativeness, execution, and flavors of the food were completely on point. My favorite dishes were the Lobster Sando, the Flash-Fried Yellowtail Collar, and the Red Rice-Crusted Branzino, but you can't go wrong with any of the chef-driven creations here! read more

This is a restaurant inside Tetra hotel. Can I just say that the ambiance of the restaurant starts even before you enter. I was here with a few of my girlfriends on a weekday for dinner. There is self parking and valet available. You can get your parking ticket validated if ur dining at the restaurant. The food is just awesome!! The service is good however the server got confused about one of our drinks and served us an extra old fashioned. We were not charged for it since it was an error on their part. Fancy new resto at the fancy new hotel somewhat inexplicably in the middle of nowhere in North Sunnyvale nearby all the Google buildings and the old bones of Yahoo. Beautiful, chic setting, minimalistic but not bleakly stark. Not too many folks dining when we sat down, but it's a fairly small resto anyways. First drink I had was yummy but strangely light on the booze (Ready Aim Fire). Second drink (maybe by way of making up for the first drink?) was basically undrinkable - a Japanese old fashioned that just tasted like pure ethanol. I suggested to the server perhaps using a different Japanese whiskey next time and the drink charge was removed from my tab, fair enough. Lobster sando was delicious! Man, I love me some Japanese style sandwiches and this did not disappoint. Hamachi crudo was similarly wonderful. The beef carpaccio by way of comparison was decent but not as flavorful, but honestly that's more user error on my end, why do I order a carpaccio when I already ordered a crudo? Think, michael, think! Finally, the wagyu burger was excellent, as any burger made out of wagyu should be. The burger was succulent and flavorful, the buns were perfectly toasted and the fries were crisp and yummy. Great balance of acid, saltiness, and a hint of spice. cornbread crispy edges. dense but light in texture. very buttery. the miso butter was better than the sweet cinnamon butter. i prefer a more textured cornbread but I think it was overall very well done lobster sando not my fav. judging from the photos, we did not get something that looked similar to others. different chefs on staff perhaps. there were no chunks of lobster at all. it was finely grounded into a paste that reminded me of dumpling stuffing, or fish balls you find in asian noodle soup. the outside tasted very egg forward and reminded me of french toast. what i love the most was the garlic aioli it came with burrata this was bomb! we almost didn't order and glad we did. half of the bread slices were charred until black so they were not edible. we used corn bread to dip it into the creamy burrata and green sauce. i kept coming back for more green sauce. i think it was chimichurri beef carpaccio this was my least favorite dish out of everything. this was bland and under seasoned. the salad it came with was also very bland and not mixed with anything. i had to ask for salt to help. when i am essentially eating raw beef slices, i need it to taste like something, or else it grosses me out. just a personal preference lol 5 apps and two cocktails = approx $136 read more

The ambience is modern, minimal and welcoming. We decided to give this place a try and came with a party of 8. Everything looked delicious on the menu! Self parked in the hotel garage. Service was great! Kind and attentive from the front desk check in to the servers and busboy. Ambiance was nice! High ceilings with natural lighting. Food was all good but quite rich/indulgent. We weren't that hungry so went for a few small plates to share: -Mini lobster sando (a creamy lobster grilled cheese cut into four small squares) -Cornbread - buttery and moist with crispy edges! The honey butter was the perfect addition. -Gem salad - refreshing with light tangy dressing and some crisp prosciutto -Hamachi crudo- although the servers raves about this dish it was my least favorite item. The seaweed topping had on overwhelming fishy smell and I eat a lot of seaweed. The fish itself was flavorless but I did appreciate the Serrano pepper zing. Overall good meal! Id be back sometime to try other items next time I'm in the mood for American. Portions were great we ended up stuffed and i took some food home. $63 pp with tax and tip, and we didn't get alcohol. We came to this restaurant on a Tuesday night with reservation. When we arrived the restaurant is almost empty. We only see 1 table occupied. However it takes us several minutes to find the host / server (same person) to seat us. Apparently the host/ server is hiding in their kitchen. We were finally seated and again when it we were ready to order, the waiter is no where to be found. Items we ordered: 3 new york steak (2 medium rare and 1 medium well) - dry and chewy Lobster sandwich - good Flash fried yellow tail - decent Brussels sprout risotto - decent We ordered medium well steak purposely for one pregnant lady in our party and apparently the waiter served the medium rare steak to the pregnant person in our party. The 3 steaks are overcooked in general so we did't realized about this error until halfway through the meal. We wanted to addressed this error and again the waiter is no where to be found. After a while we the waiter finally came out and we tell her about the issue about the raw meat that's being served to pregnant person, she asked the chef and and came back with an answer " we served high quality service meat so it's safe to consume for pregnant person" what kind of response is this. We ordered the 2 drinks on the cocktail menu - Box Briar and Rhum Club - and they were both borderline horrid to the point that we couldn't even finish them. Although I was disappointed with this first impression, I was hopeful that the rest of the meal would be better. The Hamachi crudo and yellowtail collar was good but the beef carpaccio was too salty and lacked flavor. The brussels sprouts risotto was unique and tasted good. Great food, horrible service. We reserved the special xmas menu wanting a great celebration. It was anything but. We arrived exactly on time with no one to greet us when we tried sitting down. We even got a hotel person who tried to find the server and fail, who then abandoned us once she saw a guest at her counter. After walking aimlessly for a good 15 minutes, we finally found the server. He argued that he's been there the whole time and we were just too tired to make a scene. We booked the nikkei menu the same server didn't even know nor care to show the nikkei menu until asked. What's the point of booking the nikkei then? To make it even worse, our appetizers were brought to the wrong table. Thankfully people over there said it's not theirs. In the end they didn't even tell us that we can get parking validated nor even say bye. Wasted $10 on parking. The worst service I've seen at any restaurant that charges this kind of pricing. 1 star for the food and creative menu and another lady in red who is courteous and actually seems better but wasn't our main server. read more

I feel like Adrestia is a hidden gem that not enough people know about (maybe because it's in a hotel?) This is based on my last visit here a few months ago but everything we ate was delicious. My husband and I came tonight to celebrate Valentine's Day a little early. This place has excellent food and great customer service. It's a quiet small restaurant inside of a beautiful hotel. We started with the cornbread, it came with a miso butter and maple butter spread (I forgot to take a picture but it was delicious!). Then we ordered a lobster sando and burrata, both were amazing! I finished with the Brussels sprout risotto and my husband had the NY strip steak. Everything was cooked to perfection. No complaints over here, we can't wait to return. Nice location, easy parking, welcoming and clean contemporary open atmosphere... friendly, attentive and knowledgeable service. Started with a very refreshing pineapple and passionfruit cocktail (not on the menu..just ask). Hamachi crudo was spectacular. Thin sliced super fresh fish and a variety of flavors "sprinkled" on top. Cornbread...WOW!! Amazing with two completely different sides of butter. The flash fried hamachi collar (hamachi Kama) was masterful! The chef even left a little "handle" to pick up and eat like a chicken leg. Lots of umami and the crunchy rice added a perfect textural element to the dish. Branzino was also a star. Perfectly cooked with a super nice coated and crunchy skin. Quite unique!! The mushrooms, while also quite good were the only miss for me. I really appreciated the choice of mushrooms and the grilled flavor profile, but there was a sour finish to them which I wasn't a fan of. Don't get me wrong, I would still get it again, but if the chef could figure out how to remove that "sourness" it would (for me) shine! Overall, I would have to say this is one of my new favorite restaurants in the area. I could tell the Chef (from Tokyo) is a master of his art!! I ordered: * Farro - Brussels Sprouts Risotto * Skillet Cornbread * Trio of Spreads The breakdown: * Risotto - The rice was cooked al dente, so good job on that. The flavors of the dish were mainly one-note -- a balanced sundried tomato. So far, it's good, nothing amazing or unique. The brussel sprouts were quite the let-down however. Only one of the brussel sprouts was cooked thoroughly and the rest were extremely hard. I also let the waitress know that this dish was for someone who had sensitive teeth, but for some reason, I received the opposite result. I give it 2.5/5. * Trio of spreads - There are three spreads with some naan bread. I appreciate the ingredients, however, the Olive Tapanede spread was very sour without the required balance to justify the sourness. I did not like the texture of these spreads -- I mean, super grainy and a bit chunky in certain areas. The carrot spread was aite, and the best out of the three. On a side note, if you want great Trio of Spreads, I recommend Aziza in SF. But this, a 2/5. * Cornbread - From the images, I was expecting something sensational. As a rule, hotel restaurants are usually awful and overpriced. However, this place was definitely the exception. The food was definitely above average and the decor was decent, if not a bit generic, but what really elevated the entire experience was our server Jose. It is this type of restaurant in a hotel that make me glad that I am not a business traveler any more. I am a million milers on two different airlines. We live in town, and we came to this restaurant because there was a big write up on the local Sunday newspaper introducing this restaurant serving a fresh Japanese/California fusion with the menu created by a famed Japanese chef. We made a point to order everything on the menu that remotely sounds Japanese Fusion. Turned out there was only maybe three. The tempura whole fish was the worse. It had nothing resembles a tempura, more like a battered fried fish. A fish and chip is many times better than that. The American side of the menu was not much better. The only menu that worth eating was a simple hamburger costing a little under $30. It was well cooked. Everything else, not worth it. I understand that there is not much restaurant around this area of Google and Facebook, during this pandemic era. Good luck, Salute the road warriors. read more

Food was great! Interesting incorporation of Japanese flavors with American dishes. Loved the shrimp, the empanada, and the lamb chops! Seating wasn't the most comfortable for a tall person with old bones, but I could make do at the bar. Weirdest thing, though, was the service staff wore all white. As someone who has worked in the industry for many years, I imagine they hate the upkeep on those uniforms, and as anyone with a lick of style can tell, white can turn even the loveliest people into potato sacks. read more

Apparently you can make reservations online when the restaurant isn't open. They will treat you like you're crazy if you say otherwise. Glad they didn't went elsewhere and had some great food. read more

Came with my colleagues from New York we stayed at Tetra for three days and finally had the chance to have Dinner at Adrestia, we ordered the Hamachi Crudo (10/10!), skillet cornbread the Honey butter really completes it and unfortunately sold out of the Tomahalk but we were convinced we have to get it when we're back in town. Nice ambience. Food was ok. Had the lobster sando which was yummy but very heavy. Cornbread wasn't as sweet as what I'm used to. Overall it was pricey, not sure if it's worth it. Service was slow, and there were only 2 tables that had customers. It was nice to try once, but doubt I'll be returning. Glad they validated parking. read more
