I like the ambience here. They have a bar, live music, coffee cafe area, dinning area and an out door dinning area. The servers were friendly. We ordered cocktails "Flying Ace" and "Cielo Rosa", Forager Flatbread, and Roasted Beet Salad, and cheese plate. The cocktails were fun and inventive, but maybe a bit too complex for us. The Flying Ace was a smoky old fashioned type drink with a charred cinnamon stick. Maybe the wrong choice for a sunny afternoon outdoor venue. The Cielo Rosa, with mezcal and jalapeño has a lot going on as well. The forager had great mushroom flavor and loved the roasted garlic. The first bites were great- wish they could have kept the crust crispier for later bites. (Heated plate works well) The beet salad was really good. The crushed pistachios really contrasted well with the beets.

They pass on the 0.0975% California Tourism Assessment fee.

They have live music on Saturdays in the lounge next to the bar starting at 6 or 7 pm; it's usually one or two musicians. It's quite pleasant. - 4.5/5: The Flying Ace cocktail is a good Old Fashioned riff, with a spicy cinnamon note. One oddity; they pass on the California tourism assessment fee, which applies to hotels that have restaurants. It is 0.0975% of restaurant sales. For for my $18 cocktail, I was hit with a 2 cent "CA Tourism Tax".

Absolutely delightful brunch we had at Roger Bar. The restaurant itself is tastefully decorated and was very festive for the season. We booked a Santa brunch so the kids could meet Santa and when we walked through the door, Santa was sitting over by the tree so enthusiastically waving at us. The kids were delighted! The hostess walked us over to our table and our server, Shannon, greeted us. She was so friendly and helpful the whole time. Before we ate, we walked over to Santa and striked up a conversation with the kids. He was a great Santa and the kids were open to talking to him. They sometimes can be shy, but not with him! After talking, he asked them what their favorite colors were and pulled some small toys from a bag. This was such a nice surprise for the kids and they were excited to take a photo with Santa :) The menu was great and was so hard to choose what to get. I settled on the classic breakfast they had with a mimosa and the kids had the kids meal, Mac n cheese and cheese pizza. We also got them these fun drinks they also offered. I think one was strawberry based and the other was grapefruit based. The server warned us that it has been tart in the past for kids, but we decided to try it anyway. It ended up being good for him at the beginning, but I think it started getting more tart for him so I ended up finishing it for him and I thought it was great! My breakfast was delicious especially the pancakes and the country potatoes. I love the way it was prepared. The eggs were good, but not made in a way I am used to. When the kids food arrived I was surprised how professionally fun they played the food! Sometimes I think restaurants don't put much thought into the kids food, but it actually looked very delicious. The mac n cheese looked like it wasn't made out of a box and the pizza did not look like it was previously frozen. The food came in trays with the fries being my country potatoes, but without the other fix ins and sauce. It also came with a cookie and fruit! Overall, it was an amazing brunch. I had stayed at the Ameswell a few months ago and I didn't expect anything less than my experience there and they always deliver. Such a great property all around. I can't wait to come back :)

Overall, this is a really nice spot with a great theme. It's conveniently located right off the freeway inside the Ameswell Hotel. The staff was on the younger side and service took a bit longer than expected, but everyone was friendly. Unfortunately, the food was a miss for us. We came for Christmas brunch and tried the burger, avocado toast, pancakes, fried chicken, and a kids' meal. Nothing really stood out, and we wouldn't return just for the food.

What is going on with the smell in the bar area in particular? I am a longtime customer who will stay away until it's resolved. I spoke with someone there who said cleaners would fix it. Still not fixed. It's sour and awful... please do something so I and others can enjoy ourselves again.

Great interior and nice patio area to have brunch. Food was good - fries could be more crispier and the salad could be freshier considering the price. The best was fruit yogurt. Service was overall great. Food took about 20min to come out.

My friend suggested this restaurant to celebrate my birthday, and I took a look at yelp and saw the positive reviews and decided to check it out. It is located in the Ameswell Hotel. We went on a Friday night, ubered there and it was super packed. They tried to seat us at the table right by the door which we didn't like at first since the draft and wind kept coming in. We asked to get moved to a further table and they got us in even though there was some company event that night and most tables were reserved. They were still able to accommodate us which made the night start off right. Inside there was band singing live for us which made the ambiance much more fun. The interior was modern, chic, and in the middle was the bar that glowed! So cool! For the 4 of us this is what we ordered to share: Snacks: Brussel Sprouts $11 (4/5) Nice flavor and slight crisp to the exterior of the brussels sprouts Crab Rangoon Mozzarella Sticks $16 (5/5) If you know me and my love for cheese, you MUST get this so oeey and yummy. Roasted Cauliflower $12 (4/5) I'm not a big cauliflower eater as I prefer broccoli, but this was super tasty also because the cheese sauce on top duh and some yummy toppings! Entrees: Crispy Rice Salad $16 (4/5) A nice mix of various veggies and herbs to get that super crunch with cucumber, edamame, and cabbage, topped with a vinaigrette, and lemongrass crispy rice! Now that we got all our recommended vegetable servings out the way. On to more good stuff! Gnocchi $24 (4/5) Delicious pillowy gnocchi with tomatoes in a creamy vodka sauce Chicken Katsu $28 (4/5) Super moist panko crusted chicken breast on top a curry, rice, and slaw on the side. Can't go wrong this this since the chicken was cooked perfectly. Desserts: Sticky Toffee Pudding $11 (5/5) This is one of my favorite desserts ever and usually when I see it on a menu I have to try. Roger bar did not disappoint me and you can taste the deep rich warm gooey flavors that balanced well with the vanilla gelato on the side. Chocolate + Coffee $13 (4/5) Gooey brownie and coffee gelato. I think after eating the sticky toffee pudding I would go with that one instead since I overloaded on my chocolate for the day. Overall, they're both very satisfying. We had an amazing time at Roger bar. Service was great and it a fun place to hang, grab a bite, and a drink, and sing along with the band. I would definitely come back to try the other dishes I didn't get to!

I came here to listen to some live music from Ingrid Pontes. The singer was amazing as was the ambience at Roger Bar, which is part of the Ameswell Hotel. I ordered a pina colada kombucha which was quite refreshing. The bar is spacious and there is a nice outdoor area for kids to play in. I highly recommend recommend the service and the place!

Unbelievably bad service. We ordered the Roger Burger and as seen in the picture, the menu clearly states the 'salt roasted fries' were part of the burger and the there would be a choice of side. I think any logical person would interpret it that way. However when our order came out, no fries were included (the side we chose was). When i asked about it, they disputed and said the fries were one of the sides. They said by choosing a side (one of the choices in the menu) I basically replaced the fries. As shown in picture, i think it's pretty clear fries are part of order and the side is separate. Yet despite this logical interpretation, we were refused the fries. Despite us raising valid concerns, we were stonewalled with 'you can talk to my manager' (who conveniently was unavailable/in an interview). This is such a minor item (fries), yet this restaurant chooses to treat their customers this way. Very unfortunate.

The ambiance was great, and I really liked the indoor-outdoor feel. The food and cocktails were average--good, but not worth the price. Since it's located in the Ameswell Hotel, it's convenient for guests, but I expected the food to be better. The portions were also a bit small.

Great spot with nice ambiance in Mountain View. Ample parking nearby and bike racks if you're biking over. There's also live music on Fridays and Saturdays and parking validation if needed. Service is friendly and they come by often enough (especially just before happy hour ends). Happy hour is 15% off everything which is nice, as the prices are higher than what I would expect for the place but the 15% discount makes it a great place to go. This time, I grabbed the chicken katsu and a Josephine Zero mocktail. The katsu was hearty but lacked any noticeable spice to it. The Josephine Zero was great, and I've enjoyed the other mocktails Roger has (there's a lot of mocktails!) The crab rangoon mozzarella sticks were great. Would recommend getting them.

Solid food! Fun drinkies. Cool ambiance. Great for small parties and the shareables are pretty good for big parties as well. The outside lawn has some games like cornhole and giant jenga. The hotel connected is always pretty quirky. I'd recommend this place to stop by or for casual birthday dinners with friends!

(Ryan Reynolds voiceover) The vibe is hidden chic getaway. Anna warmly greeted and served us. Crispy Rice Salad w/ Felafel! Wow! Felafels were light and flavorful! NY Striploin. Excellent! Broccollini perfectly charred Chicken Katsu. Perfect breading. The curry is fabulous! No. 2 Adaptogenic. It's got zing! Guava Fizzler. A repeater! Light airy fare that hits the spot! Fusion California! Would order everything again! Thanks, Anna! Woohoo!

Ask the Community - Roger Bar & Restaurant

    Is there a kids menu?

    Yes!

    Do they have organic options?

Do you take dinner walk-ins for a group of around 4 people or are reservations needed?

What is the update on live music? I inquired a long time ago and was told the city of Mountain View put a stop on live outdoor music, and was considering put it back into place and to keep checking in.

I heard they had some noise complaints for outside music. Best to call for current situation

Are you back to live music yet?

Unfortunately, we do not have live music back yet. We are working with the city of Mountain View and hope that we will be able to have good news soon!

Is this place dog friendly if we bring our dog for outdoor dinning?

yes it is dog friendly outside, do not know if they restrict certain breeds, call to verify

Why is the HH menu items the same price as the dinner menu?

Hello Miss Bonnie B! Thank you for bringing this to our attention - we need to update our online menu! Our happy hour pricing should reflect our Hangar Burger at $14 and our Hot N Crispy Chicken at $13. We will work to get that fixed! We hope to see…

    Is this place kid friendly?

It is super kid friendly! Lots of options on the menu that kids always love - burgers, fries, pizzas - and also lots of healthy choices as well. And, definitely check out the lawn games - cornhole, bocce ball, hula hoops and more.

The space is sleek, modern, and light-filled, making it a perfect spot to gather with friends for lunch or evening drinks and bites. Here is a breakdown of what we tried: Deviled Eggs: A must-order appetizer! Topped with tobiko/caviar, crispy shallots, and chives, they are incredibly creamy with a nice pop of texture and savoriness. Korean Fried Chicken Wings: Crispy, perfectly glazed in a sweet-and-spicy sauce, and topped with sesame seeds. Served with a cool dipping sauce that balances out the heat wonderfully. Tacos (Carnitas & Shrimp): Both taco options were served on warm, fresh corn tortillas topped with pickled red onions, cilantro, and served with a side of slaw and spicy salsa. High quality and super flavorful. Roasted Cauliflower: A gorgeous mixture of purple and white cauliflower tossed with a rich green pesto and drizzle of spicy red pepper sauce. A phenomenal vegetable side with a great kick. French Fries: Golden, crispy, well-seasoned, and served in a massive bowl--perfect for sharing across the entire table. Overall: Excellent presentation, generous portions for small plates, and a super welcoming atmosphere. Definitely a family style dinner, order multiple things to try! Made a reservation couple weeks in advance for a week night dinner for 2. Celebrated our anniversary and couldn't be more happy we came to Ethel's Fancy. Service was great, everyone was friendly and explained the menu and process. Helped making some personal recommendations and the food came out quickly. The only dish that came out very slowly was the dessert, we did wait about 25 - 30 minutes just for the softserve, but all other dishes came out in a moderate time. Rouge de Bordeaux Milk Bread, comes with cultured amazake butter and some salt. Comes out super warm, puffy, and soft. Very nice pull and the butter is super decadent. Very great take on a japanese shokupan, we were hesitant at first, but it makes for a good appetizer 5:5 Warm Sesame Pancakes were like those mini sesame mochi pancakes at chinese dim sum, but the texture was slightly airy. The sauce to accompany it was unlike anything i've had, smoked trout, avocado and yuzu. The avocado was not over powering and the cream on top was whipped. Amazing pairing. 5/5 Sashimi of Kanpachi, japanese cucumber salad as the base and dressing with the kanpachi sashimi. I will say this was the weakest dish of the night. While still good, it was a bit too tart, it overpowered the other natural flavors. Fish was still very good, tender and not fishy, but again, over powered but all the tartness in the dish. 3/5 Yellowfin Tuna on sushi rice - this was a great shareable plate of upscale poke. The tuna was great, no fishy taste, perfectly seasoned and the smoked kira had an amazing pop of flavor. Very rich and decadent dish, absolutely loved the harmony of a slight smokey flavor to the nice rich, umami savoriness. 5/5 Crispy Caledonian Prawns - Absolute star of the night. We could not stop talking about these prawns. Big plump prawns, fried perfectly, where the prawn itself was not dry but the shell had a shatteringly crispy exterior definitely slightly coated with a starch to give it a nice crunch. The chili ramp sunomono was a great touch, not spicy at all but added a great touch of flavor that complimented the crispy prawns. Could devour plates of these! 6/5! Sword-Fish Katsu Style - A great take with sword fish, flakey but not overcooked, great thin crispy katsu. Accompanied by kumquat and cauliflower, helps cut down the greasiness. The sauce with it was a buttery tart sauce. This was a lot better where the tartness helped the fried fish. It was like eating a fried fish burger without the buns. I really enjoyed this one. 5/5 Lastly we ordered a softserve with peaches, shokupan croutons and a caramel dressing. We had to wait about 25 minutes just for the small softserve so we were a bit surprised as other dishes came out relatively quickly or in an orderly fashion. It still tasted great as a little small dessert but definitely was surprised by how long it took. 3/5 Overall, we were very happy with our experience at Ethel's and it definitely lives up to the standard it sets. I can't wait for other new dishes to try and come back in the future.

Unfortunately, we left regretting that decision. From the start, the experience felt unwelcoming when we were seated with our 3-year-old daughter. There was no single overtly disrespectful moment, but the overall tone and repeated small interactions made us feel like we were being judged for having a child with us. At one point, when our daughter accidentally dropped her fork while playing, the reaction we received came across as frustration, which added to that feeling. We understand not every restaurant is designed for young children, but Broma presents itself as a place for friends and family. Instead, we felt like we had to constantly manage and overcorrect normal toddler behavior, which created stress and took away from what should have been a special occasion. Because of that, we didn't feel comfortable raising concerns during the meal when the server checked in--we were more focused on getting through the experience without drawing additional attention. We were also offered an off-menu item without any mention of price. The menu we were given did not list the smash burger, so when I ordered a double, I had no context for the cost. The final price was a surprise, and we would have made a different decision with that information upfront. The food itself did not match the price point. The "smash burger" was not prepared in the style typically expected, and overall the meal felt underwhelming for the cost. Lastly, the billing was confusing. The paper receipt listed "gratuity," while the digital receipt labeled the same charge as a "service charge," making it unclear whether an additional tip was expected. That lack of clarity does not align with the level of transparency expected at this price point. We don't mind paying for a great experience, especially for meaningful occasions, but this visit did not meet that standard and ultimately left us regretting our choice to celebrate here.

Atmosphere-wise, this place is great. The live music by the bar gives the space a nice energy…read morewithout making it feel too loud or chaotic. The food, however, was not especially impressive. I would not rush back for the food alone. The seafood pasta was too acidic/sour and somewhat underwhelming, so it did not quite land for me and led to the stomach discomfort that lasted into the next day. The quality and presentation do not match the price tag. Also, "broma" means "joke/prank" in Spanish, so naturally I found myself wondering whether the two Black Iberian pigs on the wall were part of the joke. :) I would come back for the vibe, the bar area, and maybe to give the food another try.

The location is in an assuming plaza with plenty of parking in the parking lot. Outside does not look like much but the interior is cozy and intimate. Restroom is outside the restaurant and is shared with the building. They have a prefix menu only that rotates according to the chef and drink menu with a large selection of wine. Chef's are making the dishes right behind the bar. Everything we had was incredibly flavorful and unexpected. I could not put in to words how enjoyable and complex the flavors were. Highly recommend trying this restaurant.

Month of July: Thai fusion! I've been meaning to come here…read morefor so long and have been patiently waiting for a monthly menu that catches my eye. This july it was thai! The restaurant is pretty small inside, and has 2 seating times: 530 and 8. It's a prix fixe menu but you also have some options to add to it. Larb Bibim Guksu: cold noodle dish that had szechuan ground lamb , shiso, and heirloom tomatoes - made for such a refreshing start to the meal. Fishcake tom yum: This was my absolute favorite dish. The cabbage wrapped fish was tender and juicy and the broth was so incredibly flavorful. I loved this dish, no notes Pork jowl: The pork was good, but I think compared to the other dishes on the menu, the least inventive and new. Solid dish but creativity wise I wasn't particularly sold. Ecuadorian shrimp (add on): I love some shrimp! the red curry sauce on these shrimp was super yum and it was nice that they gave you a small finger towel/wipe for afterwards Pandan Coconut Bingsu: This was an amazing dessert!!!! I am not a dessert person whatsoever but this really did it. There was a pandan bingsu (v finely shaved ice) with coconut foam on top. There was red bean also at the bottom center of the ice. The dish felt incredibly balanced and light. Every bite felt like a cloud that disappeared on your tongue. 10/10 dessert Overall it was a great experience and I'm incredibly happy with the creativity of the menu and the execution. Would love to come back to try another menu :)
