Since, this salon was just renovated everything's brand new. I like the open air and modern concept. I am now familiar with the parking and directions to get to the building. It was a little tricky at first. But, my favorite part of the salon is my stylist, DK. He is an expert professional and does a precise job with cutting and styling my hair. Gabby the receptionist/manager is outstanding. She has incredible and kind customer service skills…read more She helped gave me closure to an outstanding issue. Previously, I worked with two stylists there who share a room and have worked together for years. Though they are talented, they appeared to need clients with highly flexible schedules and/or jobs as they repeativley asked to change appointment times in less than 24 hours or last minute or would cancel at the last minute. The profession I am in does not allow much flexibility in moving a 6 pm appointment to 10 am the next day. For me, I need a strong sense of reliability in a stylist. In one case, I drove 30 minutes to get there for an appointment only to find out the stylist canceled it without telling me. That stylist appears to be scheduling via texting on her phone at times The other stylist in the pod would ask to move evening appointments up. At that point I understand his father was dying so this seems reasonable. Symmetry appears to be a place where stylists rent studios and somewhat manage their schedules. I need more professional and reliable scheduling. These stylists appeared to at times put the receptionist in the middle by asking them to reschedule the appointments. A prvevious manager/receoptionist Chris who no longer works there I found offensive and I guess took personally with his assumption that women don't work or have flexible schedules so that at last minute I could change an evening appointment to 10 am the next day. I assume Symmetry have stylists who work well with modern working woman without much flexibility in their schedules. I spoke at a stylist at another Symmetry salon who told me these two stylists at the Bethesda Salon most likely wanted to leave early for the day and did not want to stick around for an evening appointment if there were not too busy midday. If you plan to work with a stylist at Symmetry I advise you to ask do they work well with working women and how realiable are their schedules. Symmetry has other really good stylists. Also, ask how the stylist schedules via calling the receptionist for an appointment, via the stylist texting from their phone or via the online system. Previously this was a challenge as I made appointments via calling the receptionist/manager only to arrive and be told the appointment never existed. Hopefully, they have a solid system now. Do you best not to take your frustration over the middle person, the receptionist who my understanding is also the manager. I hope Symmetry which seems to be getting better and better works to troubleshoot challenging issues with some of the stylists there including poor customer service skills and business ethics.

But it'd be remiss of me to not give a shout-out to Chenelle, who has garnered so much of my trust with her cut, highlighting, and coloring skills over the past few years. The low-key transformations she's given to my hair always grow out beautifully, and she's fixed two unfortunate haircuts that I've gotten elsewhere while traveling. Logistics-wise, street parking can be competitive but there's a parking garage just a block away. I love that I can see availability online and book at-will. They basically have a loyal customer for life out of me, even though I no longer live as conveniently close as I used to!

I had a really bad haircut from a salon across the…read morestreet where the stylist cut 12 inches off despite me requesting a trim of 3-4 inches, made the right and left sides completely uneven, and left a huge cliff between the front framing layers and rest of my hair. My friend took me across the street to Salon Gerard to fix it, and despite me not having an appointment, Chenelle stayed late to trim my hair to fix the unevenness and cliffs and expertly calmed me down as I was still in shock. I really miss my long hair, but Chenelle styled it so well that I was not completely distraught and even gave me tips on how to preserve the blowout. She's not only highly talented as a stylist but also incredibly empathetic and reassuring in stressful situations. I would recommend her to everyone.
