zero stars if I could. I needed a bulb for my headlights. The associate was helping a customer so I went to the headlight bulb isle. After customer was rung up I was not even approached or acknowledged. Then a new customer came in. Asked for headlight bulb. Associate walked by me said excuse me. Then walked back passed me and said excuse me again. I had enough. I walked to the counter as the customer was finishing. A new customer comes in cuts in front of me while the associate looks at me and doesn't acknowledge me at all. I walked out! Very disappointing. read more

Three stars for the staff for trying to be helpful and no stars for the corporation which charges high prices, but refuses to hire enough help. When you trying to help a local business such as this store and you're put on hold for a long time and have to wait in line, it's time to move on to Amazon, where you can buy the same products for less money and have them delivered to your doorstep the next day. read more

Super unimpressed. The two guys behind the counter were apparently helping other people - which is fine. But when I am standing there looking like an idiot, the least you can do is say hey, I'll be with you in a minute. Or at least greet me. Then a third guy came out of nowhere and stared at me for three minutes before finally asking if he could help. I needed a fuse to get my cigarette lighter working. Here's the conversation: "Hey, I'm looking to purchase a fuse for my 1997 Oldsmobile Cutlass to get the cigarette lighter working." Him standing in front of the counter: "Yeah, so?" Me: "...I'd like to buy it from you guys??" Him: "Okay, go find the fuse panel in your box and tell me which one you need." Bro, if I knew what fuse I needed, I wouldn't be standing here asking you for the information. At least let me know whether or not your computer can find that for me before I start pulling my car apart because I don't know where the fuse panel is. I hate to say that women are incapable, because they most definitely are not. But I'm not a car girl, I'm hoping to get some assistance along the way. But I did go outside and find a second WORKING cigarette lighter in my car. So he did save me money and now I never have to go back there. :) read more

From customer in store #7115 on 4/3/18 at register 2 at about 5:00 pm....Went to Advance in Glen Cove, NY to pick up oil, an oil filter and wipers for my nephew's car. I was greeted by Tom who is one of the last remaining people at that location since it opened up. Tom is always very pleasant and a pleasure to talk to. There is no catalog to look up part numbers for an oil filter, so I use my phone to look up on the Purolator site. I pick out a 5 gallon jug of oil and I see that there is a card there that states that for $2 more I can get a Purolator One oil filter with my purchase. Great. I pick the appropriate oil filter and go to the counter. I am waiting on line for 5 minutes because Anthoney and I believe the manager James are conducting an interview at the customer counter. I am not even acknowledged. Finally I am rung up with a bit of an attitude. I look at the total, and see it is incorrect. I am charged full price for the oil filter which is only supposed to be $2 more. He is trying to pawn off the lower quality Purolator on me. I go back and forth like an idiot and then finally show him the card that states that the item are on sale. At that point I get a major attitude and shortness of voice from this "parts professional". He says that he will then give me the Purolator at the sale price. Are Advance "parts professionals" not aware of what sales they are running in the store? Why must the customer go back 3 times to prove what the sale is while "the parts professional" should have done it? Why did the "parts professional" not look up the sale in the computer? Why did the "parts professional" not go look at a brochure which they always have at the counter? Finally, why is company business being discussed in front of customers with your backs turned towards them. Doesn't the manager have an office? I have been in the automotive business for over 20 years. Know your product, know ongoing sales, and treat your customers with dignity and respect. The former management and employees were awesome, but these employees need to step it up. read more

DONT GO HERE!! I went there today to get a head light for my car. The guy at the counter put in all my information to get me the right bulb and I even brought him outside to double check..all was confirmed until i got home, took my head light off and it wouldn't fit. I later asked a mechanic and he confirmed it was the wrong one and I called customer service and got told this; "we aren't mechanics". Wow! I understood completely they weren't mechanics but i wasn't offered or given a refund or even an apology. I also went there a previous time to order a battery and they ordered me the wrong one. I sure wont be returning there again. read more

Get In and Get Out! This place is convenient for anyone who lives in the Glen Cove area. They have a great selection of products as any big auto store would. I have to admit that the service at times could be VERY VERY SLOW - and for that reason I gave it 4 stars. I also gave it 4 stars because the people working there at times - do not know where certain things are or what certain things even mean. However, one of the guys recommended me a scratch remover for my car and it definitely did the trick in working. I could easily give this store 3 stars, but until they really agitate me - I'll knock them down another star. In the end, I recommend coming here for products you know of and DO NOT COME HERE FOR ADVICE ON VEHICLES. read more

i do recall how i would enjoy going to my local auto parts to pick up antifreeze , motor oil, brake fluid , and other preventive maintance stuff , etc and keep it in the trunk until it was needed but as we get older we tend to get lazy and rather go play with our smartphone for hours but sometimes that feeling to hit the local auto parts store comes around and here i am at advance . along forest ave in glen cove you will find this place with good size outdoor parking and inside it's spacious with the a to z of auto parts , supplies , and accessories . the windows are plastered with all that's on sale and yes i do need some antifreeze , motoroil, power steering fluid and a new easy to use tire jack cause mr sadri is not handy at all . i walked aisle to aisle picking up stuff left and right most that i will never use or need but it's friday and i am off from work so why not. store is organized and shelves are filled with each aisle labeled with what's available . the workers seem helpful enough and was able to get me front and rear brake pads quickly that my buddy jose the mechanic will put on my ride on sunday .i usually have gone to auto zone or pep boys in the pass but advance auto parts is just as good with selection and prices . in and out in 15 minutes , 4 stars on my yelp meter. read more

ive been a regular customer of the new glen cove location since opening day. ive spent thus far over 1000 dollars there since. the staff is friendly and somewhat knowledgeable and if the part you need is at ANY advance store they will locate it and have it for you many times by the next day. the staff is helpful and considerate. HOWEVER I just found out their return policy states if you need to return a part that was not used or was unneeded, and accidently lose the receipt, you don't get back the CASH THAT YOU PAID! you get a store gift card instead, ONLY good inside an advance auto parts store!! lol!! now I'm out 140 bucks for a piece that was not needed thus adding to my expense of repair. a total waste of 140 bucks unless I invest it in car parts at one of there stores. next time ill use ebay for expensive parts. AND IM a good regular customer and everyone there knows me and helps me every time I come in a few times per month for battery charging and buying of many parts. after being told this, I STILL bought a part I need for my car in addition to the refund denial I got today. so everyone DONT LOSE YOUR RECEIPT or you lose out on the cash you paid for the item!!! beware!!! once they get your MONEY, THEY DONT GIVE IT BACK!! LOL! even if your a regular that spends thousands per year there, company policy doesn't care. you get a card. not your cash back. but hey, at least they have the parts when I need them, so I guess that's a small price to pay for doing biz there. ill still use them anyway. I live very close by to them. I guess ill have to list the parts I'm stuck with on ebay to resell in the meantime. lol!!! read more
