I had a completely dead battery that I had to jump just to get it to Advance Auto. I bought a new battery there and was hoping to get it installed. The first associate looked under my hood and told me that there was too much corrosion and he couldn't remove the old battery, and they would refund my purchase. Then he tried to jump my car which would not come back to life. He told me to get a tow truck and take it to a mechanic! I went back into the store to see if a different associate could help. I got Luis this time and he worked hard to get the old battery out and put in a new one. He cleaned up the posts and connections and went out of his way to do it right. I was in a rush and backed out of my garage without looking carefully. There was a casualty. My passenger side mirror suffered injuries. : ( I know that I have to have it replaced, but what to do in the meantime? I called Advance Auto Parts and they told me about a peel and stick reflective material that you can put over the cracked mirror. I ran over and a very sweet lady helped me out. She showed me where the product was and checked me out. It was only $15. I hope it gets me through the holiday weekend. Great service, helpful people and knowledgeable people who work there. I was very clear on what make/model my car was when I bought a battery for my Volkswagen. When a technician was putting it in my car they found I was sold the wrong size battery, and therefore I failed my inspection. I went to another advanced autoparts and the staff member was much more helpful and gave me the right size battery. Do not say you were not warned! I ordered a part and was told it would be there the next day. Went in was told that they didn't have part and was told that I was given the wrong receipt so there was no way for them to look up my order to call and let me know, which isn't true bc I verified it with another cashier two days later, that they could have looked up my account by order and simply called me, which they did not do. It was just sheer laziness on their part and I couldn't even get the proper refund back to my card bc the system "wasn't working properly." This place is the worst and run by rude high school kids so when you get screwed over, do not say you were not given a heads up! read more

I have visited this store a few times now and have been satisfied by the service here. They do have most items in stock for items that I am looking for. I am a novice when it comes to knowing what parts to buy for my vehicles. This store does have easy guides for picking parts like wipers and bulbs tomy vehicles. The staff is also able to help look these up if needed. Checkout process is also convenient with cash registers at the back and the front of the store. Bought a seat organizer here. Was told I could return it within 45 days with the receipt. That was no issue as I attempted to install it as soon as I got to my truck. The bottom clip was not long enough for my passenger seat. Boxed it back up and walked right back in. Upon going back in and going to the kid who sold it to me, he tried to return it but needed the manager (who was right next to him having a conversation with another employee laughing and joking around) for approval. It took him 3 tries to get his attention with me standing there just waiting. Once he finally came to the computer, he said the system was down nationwide and that they can't refund me but could give me store credit. Said I could come back in an hour or so or tomorrow to attempt to get my refund. I took the product and my receipt and left and on the way out, the nice kid that sold it to me, said "try another advance, the system might not be down". I walked into this store(#8979) today. There were 3 employees all assisted someone. There was a gentleman waiting in line. There was a customer that couldn't make up his mind on a purchase. The 2 employees in the back continued their push for the gentlemen to make the purchase - all the while there are customers still waiting. I asked if there was another cashier and a rudely and unprofessional employee told me i "need to wait". I immediately walked to the front of the store & asked the guy there if he could help me. This place was close by and my car needed a battery, after i called the team they kept the doors open past closing time to service me and a man named Victor guided me in finding the right pieces to get my battery out of my car. They weren't rushing me and they even offered to take out the battery for me. *I hope this man is recognized for his positive attitude and tolerance when it came to servicing me and my wife through this issue and for that I can't thank this guy enough who is a great model for what businesses should aspire to be. If you shop at Advance Auto and want to return an item - FORGET IT! They demand to take your drivers license and SCAN IT INTO THEIR SYSTEM!! Having been a victim of identification theft, this is a huge intrusion into your personal information. Their data base already has your name, address, phone number, credit card number with expiration and three letter code. Now, in order to return an item you can't use, they will not give your money back without a copy of everything on your drivers license and absolutely refuse to provide a work- around to solve your concerns. They would get 5 stars if the young lady at the front had not been a moody and useless waste of a job... Once I got past her the two guys towards the back of the store were great. Very courteous, helpful, and pleasant to deal with. After Amazon dot com FAILED to provide the right parts despite my selecting items that were listed as a match for my year, make, and model car, I first tried Sears Auto Parts. I even called ahead to make sure they had what I needed. They lied on the phone, were no help in the store (literally 5 employees, 3 customers, and it took 10 minutes before one of them told me someone would help me soon..). I purchased a car battery from the Rockville location, but they said it couldn't be installed at the location because of their memory saver being down. I took it that same day to Kensington location and was told that they stop installing batteries at 6:30. I was fine with this if that is the store policy. The following day I left work early and got to the store at 5:30 only to be told by the associate they are short staffed. There was no one in the store and there was two associates at the cash register and one in the back. I told the guy it was urgent and if there was any way it could be done if I waited. He replied "I get off at 9, if you want I could install it then". I ended up making the drive to another location where I finally got the battery installed. The money I saved on the battery was gone with the gas wasted driving around and leaving work early. AVOID THE KENSINGTON LOCATION! Advance auto parts will not be my first choice next time I need work on my car done. read more

This location is horrible for service. Do not go there! I went to get a new battery during the health crisis and was told they won't do direct service. I understand they don't want to get into cars but I wanted a new battery and didn't need to be near while they are under the hood. My car wouldn't start once I got there since they wouldn't do any direct service but they wouldn't give the car a jump start to go back home. We had to call the corporate office to call the store to get us a jump. I then went to Auto Zone and they still observed the social distancing and I was able to get a new battery in a safe way with good service. I'm done! read more

Not sure why the number of police officers on the road seems to have increased... Last night I noticed one of my headlights was out however, it was after 9pm and I was hoping that I could make it home without getting pulled over. NOPE. Cutest state trooper pulled me over on 270. He was nice but he gave me a repair order. I guess it was good so that no one else would pull me over before I could replace the headlight. Today, I go the auto parts store that is nearest to my office and the one I always go to. I pull open the book to look up the model number I needed for my car...and wouldn't you know that some bozo ripped out page 51/52...which is the exact page I need! Could not find anyone to help me so I walk to the back. Guy behind the counter looks it up for me. Tells me I need 9003. I start to walk away and he tells me he has them behind his counter. As he hands me the bulb, I ask if there is a 2-pack as I know I bought one last time and prefer to replace both bulbs at once. Since he gave me the basic bulb, he had to give me 2 separate packs. I guess it was nice he was not trying to sell me bells and whistles, but I wanted the Sylvania Xtra Vision. As I did not know the name of what I wanted, I asked for the Silver Star (because it was on the back of the basic package) and that is what he sold me. He wasn't rude. But he wasn't overly helpful. I told him I did not want to buy the bulb grease because I used it last time I didn't think it helped any. But he told me I needed it and so I bought it. I dunno. Maybe because I am a woman. But I just felt like he was rushing me. He was not overly helpful. If I had the model number, I could have looked at the different options and bought the style I really wanted. Maybe this is my own fault. The icing on the cake was when I googled the model number and found that the twin pack I paid $45 for was listed on Amazon.com for $18. That is the Amazon prime cost too. Knowledgeable staff, product mostly in stock and easy to find most of what you need without help. Very organized compared to other Advanced Stores. I came in for various parts for my Toyota Truck. I only got Brake Pads because they couldn't find my Commercial Account. I provided business number and account number as I had a previous invoice but still no luck. Drove 4 miles to another location to purchase the rest of the needed parts and they successfully pulled up my account. It was on a weekend my visit so maybe they didn't have the Commercial Pro available but it's often times tasks like these that make the difference. Knowledgeable about product. A+ Store. I fell right in the door way battery went fling and no one helped me the associates just looked at me. a customer came over and helped me up and asked if I was ok. I had to go get my battery and carry it over to the counter with a hurt knee and elbow. After my car battery died, I called to ensure my battery was in stock. I was told if I arrive before 4:30pm it would be installed. I got a jumpstart and arrived at 4pm. I was assisted by Carlos who lacks basic customer service skills. I reminded him that I needed it installed and said he wasn't doing it. I thought ok can you give me a clue as to who can? He proceeds to put it on a cart and roll it up front. The guy up front said he wasn't doing it either- another customer was his last one. Finally a guy from a closed office came out and did it. During the installation I was told I had the wrong battery so had to return the first that Carlos rang and bought another. I was baffled at the customer service. I called the help desk and after being on hold for 15 mins they hung up. When I actually went there, the same lady told me that all the workers were taking a break and the service could not be offered for another three and a half hours.
