Knowing we had a stacked list of items to tackle, competitive pricing, reliability and communication was very important to us. Scheduling a free in-person visit for an estimate was a breeze. Prior to that, they had pointed us in obtaining a meter spot first as we needed an electric panel upgrade. After we received the meter spot from painstakingly slow DWP, a young man was sent out who documented the work to share with his manager & technicians for the proposed estimate. Don't let the fact that it wasn't an experienced technician doing the walk-through deter you, he did a fantastic job documenting it all and an estimate came soon afterwards. Advance Electrical Service runs a well-oiled machine which includes managing & scheduling free estimate appointments, while still being communicative with technicians so they're well briefed for the jobs. We definitely saw this organization when they executed the first part of our electrical work which was upgrading & relocating the panel, converting GFCI outlets in wet areas, replacing an ancient bathroom vent fan and adding a new dedicated outlet. The 3 technicians managed to knock all this work out all on the hottest Saturday we had yet, in 104 degree weather, without any complaints and still finished the job (with an add-on) at their proposed wrap time. After completing the work, they tested everything thoroughly and walked us through and educated us on all the upgrades. Very punctual, professional, courteous and a great team to work with. Also, we had a few change of plans because a replacement chandelier did not arrive on time and we've already booked our next job with AES for part 2. Despite change of plans and even adding new items (replacing some shoddy security lights and hot-wiring an outlet in the garage) same day, there was no hiccups with invoicing and future scheduling whatsoever. Robert was one of the few people willing to work with me regarding a couple troubleshooting options before he even came out. In case it was an easier solve. What I got was 2 guys at my house for less than 15 minutes and a texted quote to replace my electrical panel. This cost me $230. I also asked for a quote to run 220 to my garage. No one measured or even bothered to look at where it was going. When I asked Robert about it, he claimed he said no such thing. I am very disappointed and feel ripped off. It is my pleasure to write a 5 star review for Advance Electrical. We purchased an older home a few months ago, and quickly noticed some issues with the 100 amp service: circuit breakers tripping frequently, flickering lights, power outages in portions of the house... the kind of stuff that makes you check the batteries in the smoke alarms, you know? Finally, our garage, living room, kitchen, and bathroom all lost power, and it became apparent that we needed some electrical work. I tried the home warranty provided by our seller first, but they were worthless as hen poop on a pump handle (but that's another review.) they found a way to not cover anything, so no love there. I put up a request for quotes on Yelp, and got three or four responses quickly (aside: if you're not using Yelp for home improvement bids, you're missing the boat.) Advance stood out for both its high Yelp ratings, speed of response, and price. After a phone call with the owner, Robert, he arranged to come to the house for a free inspection and to provide a quote. Robert showed up on time, took a quick look around, and made the recommendation to upgrade the panel to 200 amp service, and correct some wiring/breaker issues around the house. Robert and his crew did an amazing job replacing the panel. These guys worked all day from 8 to about 4, and not only brought our electrical system up to modern times, but corrected all of the "code" stuff that our home inspection identified. The following day, the guys came back and added 6 breakers, rewired several parts of the house, added outlets, and corrected all the problems we were experiencing. To be candid about price, panel replacement and rewiring is not a cheap repair... but Advance saved me thousands of dollars off the next closest price quote. They don't take credit cards, but I paid on Venmo using my card, so that worked too. I can't say enough positive things about these guys, and I definitely sleep a lot better knowing my kids won't have to jump out their window in the middle of the night due to an electrical fire. I am writing this with gratitude. After trying to change some smart switches I ran into an issue where I confused the wiring and needed to call in a professional. In my own, home I've changed 4 smart switches with no issues, but in this instance, I inadvertently rewired the lighting incorrectly. I went to update my girlfriend's parents' switch in the dining room to work with their Google Assistant devices that I got for the holidays.
