I've had two interactions now with Marcell and his team, and both went well. We had a furnace start making strange sounds at the end of 2021 and shopped around for mechanics who could look into it. Advance Heating & Air Conditioning answered the most promptly and provided the best pricing so we went with them to take a look at the furance. Marcell was there the next day and came back with a fair diagnosis; the furnace is nearing the end of it's life and we had three options- a) let it be and wait till it dies b) throw parts at it in hopes of extending the life a little c) replacing the furnace. We went with Option A and lived with the furnace until earlier this month (beginning of 2023) when the furnace completely died. I enjoyed working with Marcell previously, so we went back to him to ask for furnace options. He provided three alternatives (Coleman, Goodman, and Payne) and even looked into the warranties of each. We ultimately went with Goodman due to it's superior warranty. Before I knew it, Marcell and team had the new furnace put in and the house was heated again. Just had Advance install a DAIKIN 12,000 btu mini split for our mid-century modern in the East Bay hills. The DAIKIN comes with a 10 year warranty. Heater was functional but it was very old (gave us the deal with AC installation) and dual zone certainly help with heating or cooling of the house. Update: 1. The driveway was fine before they came and broken after they left. So it was very likely caused by the equipment. And the damage is the concrete is now sinking, below the rest of areas. The cracked piece is still there. 2. I got the registers replaced by my GC and he said there is no reason they couldn't replace them if they are professional. The registers could be found easily in any Home Depot. Even thought the original registers are not producing, there are a lot of same size alternatives. 3. They promised pull the permit but still not any update after two months. And my contractor said they violated the electrical codes so he doubted they couldn't pull it; It's fraud. ----- The business did 5 stars before you pay them, but I would give 0 after you paid them. They would be slow or even unresponsive to your questions and concerns. I hired them to replace the whole HVAC system. They installed the system on mid May and then I reported the problems to them on the same day, but they still have not solved any of them on today. 1. They damaged the driveway and promised to fix but still not... 2. The register has incredible noise level (73db/disturbing) and dust problems. They promised they could replace the registers at the beginning but now they kept saying the previous system was too old. Yeah. I know it's old. that is the reason I wanted to replace the whole system. It doesn't make sense you couldn't replace something because it's too old. So they haven't done anything yet to fix.... Let me just start by saying I don't handout five star reviews often. However in this case, Marcell and his team deserve five stars and more. I contacted Marcell to get a quote on how much it would cost to get an air condition unit installed in my home due to the ridiculous heatwave we were having at the time. Marcell was referred to me by a friend of mine. I told him the situation and he asked for a few photos (the breaker, backyard area and the heater I currently had). After he reviewed the photos he gave me a quote which my jaw drop in a good way. I thought "no way on earth this is possible". So I did my due diligence and called a few other places whos prices were astronomical. I called Marcell back and asked him a few more questions regarding what other places were saying I needed, pretty much fact checking them. After reading a few additional reviews I decided I would go with Marcell and his team. The fact that Marcell was 100% honest with me about what I needed went a long way and his prices were beyond reasonable. Marcell and his team showed up at 9am on a Monday and proceeded to get to work. They removed my old heater and disposed of it. They were very transparent of what was going to be done so I was never out of the loop. By the day's end they were nearly complete and said they would be back the next day to clean up the loose ends. The following day they showed up at the same time and cleaned up any loose ends that needed to be done and then tested the heater to make sure the house was cooling down as it should. Found Marcell not based on word of mouth, but based on online reviews, and I got a quote from him alongside a few others (initially via photos / phone, thanks to COVID-19). I gave him the size of my system based on what other contractors had said, but he correctly pointed out based on just *one* photo that I was incorrect and my system was actually smaller than I thought. Pretty impressive if you ask me. His prices were surprisingly good too, so can't recommend him enough, especially among a trade that typically has most of the real pros doing commercial (vs. residential). His only downside is that he is a bit skeptical on recommending newer, more efficient heat pump systems, which in fact work amazingly well in our Bay Area climate. That said, he's a pro and just needs a little bit of nudging from the homeowner to do a fantastic job with heat pumps as well. read more

They have been giving us the run around for months trying to fix a botched installation of a mini split heating/cooling system. Since I last posted Marcel admitted the guy he employed to do the installation scammed and botched multiple jobs in addition to ours. He assured me it would be fixed and it has not been. We now have liquid dripping down the walls where the units are installed and they of course still don't work properly. Despite months of frustration I would not be posting if the employees of this company would have rectified the situation but they absolutely haven't. I decided that after 2 hot summers and likely that being the normal, I would get some quotes to add AC to my house and at the same time get a check-up on my existing heating system and ducting. Long story short, I needed a complete overhaul. I requested a numerous amount of quotes and used the Yelp feature to collect them all and I was able to connect with Marcell and Advance Heating and AC. When his quote came in virtually, I asked him to come see and confirm to make sure there weren't any hidden items. He kept his price and confirmed all the work that all the other bidders were wanting to charge so much for, even double in some cases. He was so clear with what needed to be done, explained exactly what was needed with all the ducting that needed to be replaced and gave me some options for adders in case I wanted them but wasn't at all pushy. His crew came in, removed my 20+ year old furnace out and all the old ducting that was so bad and put in a new Goodman furnace, Payne AC condensor and all new R6 ducting and installed it to high quality standards! The work was clean, was done in just about 3 days and they observed all the social distancing and mask safety which made me comfortable. Marcell and his crew couldn't have done a better job and it was really a pleasure working with them and I wouldn't have even found them if it wasn't for Yelp! I don't normally say the cheapest price is the best way to go, but here it was high quality, best price and I'm really happy with the result. For those that are looking for a reference, a lot of my quotes for the same work and even less quality/size equipment was 15k+ and I broke everything down to the detail to level-set and Marcell provided the best overall quality by far!
