I am reposting my review with Global heating because it looks like my first one about three months ago got taken down for whatever reason Yelp decided. John was amazing when he came over to my house. I had previously interviewed and hired two other contractors to come in to look at my AC unit and they did not know what the hell they were doing. By the time, I finally reached John, he knew exactly what was wrong! He is super honest and his price was amazing depending on what your issue is with your AC. My issue was I needed a new compressor which the other two bozo clowns couldn't figure out. My only regret is that I wish I found John as my first contractor instead of interviewing and working with the other two bozos! I live in Newark. Compressor on 18.5 yr old condenser finally went out, thanks to diagnoses from John. John walked me through the different options where he clearly outlined the pros and cons. We decided to install an entirely new system and John provided a very reasonable estimate. John's team powered through the installation on a warm day and was able to get the new system up in 1.5 days. System has been working flawlessly since installation. Some drywall had to be removed to fit the new system and the Global team even covered the cost of the drywall repair. Throughout, John and his team have been on top of things, super communicative through phone, text and email. He as been super honest and transparent throughout the whole process. While other companies are pushing certain systems and configurations that are overkill, John will advise you what is necessary to ensure the best cost basis and what you exactly need. Our furnace stopped working on a Sunday. I put out a project request on Yelp, and within minutes I got a call from Global. Giovanni (the owner) told me about his business (family owned and operated), and that he could have Joey out to do a diagnostic the very next day. The visit is $49, which will go towards service if we go with his company. I also made an appointment with another HVAC company, which had a $89 visit fee, the following day. Joey arrived on time, checked out our furnace and knew exactly what the problem was. Since our furnace is old, he'd have to order the parts, but he gave us a fair estimate. He was very professional, and was very confident what the problem was. He didn't try to up-sell us a new furnace. This left us with such a good impression that we decided to go with Global, and cancelled our appointment with the other HVAC company. I don't usually have service done on our home without a second quote, but that's how confident we felt with Global. We got text updates from Global when the parts were ordered, and when they arrived. When your AC predictably fails on the hottest day, you want it repair ASAP but is afraid of how much it will cost you, you certainly don't have high hopes of a cheap fix after hearing the local AC company will charge you a diagnostic fee of $69 just to have a look and is cagey on pricing and repair option. Global Heating And Cooling does none of these things, is very reasonable on repair costs and will help you with trouble shooting advice even if you don't end up using their service. a rarity now days. Contrary to marketing presentations, the modern AC system differs very little fundamentally from its predecessor 70 years ago apart from some modern electronic control boards. The external unit remains that of a sealed reciprocating compressor power by electric motor pumping Freon through a condenser that is in turn cooled by external electric fan all controlled by a mechanical contact relay. Just like an old school fridge, a experienced technician can quickly diagnose most problems here given a reasonable description from the customer and some photos. Most AC company today will charge you for the above privilege or outright hide info here. Not so with with Global Heating And Cooling ! They were upfront with potential costs on replacing different components, how to quickly locate key info like fan RPM and quickly diagnosed a bad start capacitor from from photos and verbal description despite yours truly lacking a multi-meter. Thanks to the above, the repair bill was cut from $275 to $27. Not many vendors now days will freely give out technical advice to customers that costs them revenue ! After calling 3 different heating and cooling companies I decided to go with global and they did not disappoint. I made an appointment and technician was able to diagnose the issue within minutes. That to me shows that they are experienced with that they do and not try to upsell you with services you don't need.. just straight to work, it was some sort of sensor that needed replacement. This review is for Global Heating and Cooling Services. Our old Carrier furnace had been making a loud, intermittent noise for some time. We had another business (also with good Yelp reviews) come to check but they sadly did nothing more than a quick look and say all was good. Thus, we weren't sure what to expect when we called Global. Joey came out and within a minute or two noticed an issue with the motherboard LED and after hearing a recording of the sound concluded a failed motherboard was cutting power to the furnace and the sound was from the blower motor suddenly turning off. The next day we installed a new motherboard. Upon inspecting the old one sure enough there was a burnt component on the backside. Our system has been running since without the power shut-off and the cycling seems improved. In hindsight the other company should have caught this problem. Joey was quite honest, knowledgeable and helpful, explaining what he was doing and answering our many questions. Joey is John's (Giovanni, the owner) son and Global is a small family business. After working with Joey and talking with John they are both focused on providing good work and customer service. Somewhat hard and refreshing to find these days. In short, Joey and Global were great and I have no reservations about giving them 5 stars and recommending them to others in need of furnace or air conditioning work. We did not have it done but they also do duct cleaning. In fact, Joey has his own company doing duct cleaning throughout the Bay Area.
