The heating and AC still worked fine, but we replaced the batteries and filter just in case. This was my first thermostat issue in years, and so there was a lot of new terminology to understand. With freezing night that same night and next few days, he quickly scheduled a technician, Abraham, who arrived on time. Abraham tested the system and confirmed the thermostat needed replacement. He patiently explained the setting and troubleshooted the issue when he new Sigler unit, set to "Gas", wouldn't start the heater. So, we called Sal about the issue and while we were discussing over the phone Abraham thought of checking the old thermostat settings. After checking the old White-Rodger's thermostat setting, he realized it was set to "Electric." Once he switched the new Sigler thermostat to the correct setting, everything worked. Abraham stayed in touch with Sal, confirming that both heater and AC responded correctly to temperature changes. Abraham was professional, polite and completed thermostat set-up for out pancake unit. Could not recommend Sal more! My AC was no longer cooling so I made an inquiry through Yelp around 9pm last night and he responded within a minute. He was able to come out by noon the next day (on a Saturday), and very quickly diagnosed AND fixed the issue within 20 minutes, and now I am sitting here in a nice and cool home!! The issue was the capacitor needed dead and I had a hunch that was the issue, so when I was messaging with Sal I told him I wasn't sure if I should replace the capacitor myself or hire. Within 10 minutes, he fixed the problems. It was the capacitor. Turned out he's like in his 30s and been doing this for 6 years. After he fixed the problems, he took time to check the temperature to make sure it's cold enough. I was pretty happy with his thoroughness. Value is hard to say, normally a capacitor cost $150-$400. They charged me $3xx so I didn't think it was unreasonable. However, $49 service fees was reasonable. They were pretty prompt. Service requested on Wednesday and they came Friday.
